We had a wonderful time in Vicopisano. Casa Colombo is a wonderful place to stay and our hosts were warm and very helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Casa Colomba. It was lovely to host you and we are happy you enjoyed your time with us. We hope to welcome you again one day in the future.
Marie was such a friendly host and the walk around the little town with her when we arrived was the perfect way to start our 5 night stay there. The place is a good mix of old town charm and modern convenience. Little coffee shop was open early to get coffee and the country roads were a great place to go for a run in the morning. We drove to the coast and took the train to Cinque Terra to explore. It was a good base away from the crowds but close enough to get everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that Marie made such a positive impression with her friendly hospitality and town tour. It's great to know that you appreciated the blend of old town charm and modern convenience, as well as the early morning coffee shop and scenic country roads for your runs.
We're glad that our location served as a perfect base for your explorations to the coast and Cinque Terre, offering a peaceful retreat from the crowds while still being conveniently close to various attractions. We would be delighted to welcome you back anytime. Thank you again for your kind words!
I have wanted to stay at Casa Colomba for 2 years! My dream came true and it did not disappoint. Marie and Lorenzo are wonderful hosts. She is there to give you wonderful suggestions and to help book your excursions. The accommodations were great. The town is right out of the history books. We plan on returning again.

Ciao Donna!
Thank you for such a wonderful review of the time you spent here with us at Casa Colomba. We really appreciate your feedback and we loved spending some time with you during the vineyard experience. Lorenzo and I can't wait for you to return to live life like a local in our little history book of a town!
We had such a lovely stay in Vicopisano! Marie and Lorenzo have put together tons of information about where to go and what to do in the area. We had the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. The apartment was wonderful and looks exactly like the pictures. It was the perfect location for our excursions around Tuscany. We rented a car out of Florence and found the driving in the area to be very easy. We wish we could have stayed longer and cannot wait to be back!

Wonderful flat and hosts
We absolutely loved this flat. The town is charming and just what we wanted for our vacation. Our children loved it as well. We ventured to Florence (a one hour drive), Pisa ( a 35 minute drive) and Lucca -at Marie's suggestion (also a 35 minute drive). We absolutely loved Pisa and Lucca. Florence was beautiful, but not the experience we were looking for. We much preferred Tuscany. We will be back. Thank you Marie and Lorenzo!

A Beautiful Retreat in Tuscany
We spent a glorious week at Casa Colomba in March. The owners, Maria and Lorenzo could not have been more nice or helpful. The flat itself is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Vicopisano is a quite little town with a lot of charm (and towers!). The flat was very romantic and perfect for a couple. There are a couple flights of stairs to get to the apartment, so this may not be the best choice for someone with mobility issues. Not only would I recommend this place to my friends, I am thinking of when we can go back. It was that nice. Thanks Maria and Lorenzo for a great vacation!

Charming Tower Apartment With Best Hosts Ever!
We spent four days at Casa Colomba and we had the best time! The village is very cute, not touristy at all, and has some great restaurant choices. It's a great location as a starting point to visit surrounding cities if you have access to a vehicle. We took the train to Florence one day and spent the day there.
Marie and Lorenzo could not have been more accommodating. They set up several experiences for us in advance - including a cooking class which we did in the bottom floor apartment of their beautiful remodeled home, and a half day wine tour. They were so hospitable and very responsive whenever we had any questions. They also set up dinner reservations for us multiple nights. They made our time in Tuscany so enjoyable and I would highly recommend their apartment to anyone.

Thank you for sharing your experiences of a stay at Casa Colomba in Vicopisano. As you discovered our little corner of Tuscany has much to offer and it is an ideal location for taking in the sights of Pisa, Lucca and Florence. We loved the fact that we were able to share some memorable experiences with you such as a Tuscan cooking lesson and a visit to the wine region for some wine tasting! It was great to meet you both and although you managed to fit in quite a lot in the four nights we really hope to invite you back to Casa Colomba to discover the rest of what our little corner of Tuscany has to offer!

Stunning apartment in what is probably the friendliest town in Italy.
My husband and I spent 3 wonderful weeks staying in Casa Colomba this August.
Our first impressions of the town and the apartment were equally favourable. As in: WOW!! The apartment is actually BETTER than it looks on the website. It is all SPOTLESSLY clean, and Marie & Lorenzo have thought of absolutely everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Soap, detergent, spare towels; you name it. There are maps and guide books and a bookshelf of great holiday reads (in case you run out of books, like I did). They even put together a welcome pack of groceries (and prosecco!!) so that when we arrived after our long journey, we didn't have to think about shopping straight away.
Italy was experiencing a heat wave while we were there, but the apartment was high enough to catch the wind, which cooled everything down to a pleasant sleeping temperature...and there is an electric fan in each room anyway to help with circulation.
And did I mention how FRIENDLY everyone is? Marie & Lorenzo are definitely the most accommodating hosts we have ever met in all our years of travel. Apart from the exceptional pre-stay communication (all emails answered quickly, all concerns addressed), Marie went out of her way to make us comfortable. She booked restaurants for us, gave us the skinny on the best beaches to go to, and even took us all out one day for a tour of Vicopisano (she's a bit of a history buff). We finished it off with a visit to the local olive-oil maker, who thanks to Marie's introduction invited us all in to his house for a tasting of all the wonderful food (and oil) they produce on the farm. This was definitely the highlight of our whole trip!
The town itself is terrific. It's small, but the locals are SUPER friendly and welcoming. Actually I don't think there's a friendlier town in all of Italy. There were waves and smiles from the locals every day, the shopkeepers were all helpful... even the bus driver got off the bus to walk us over to a machine where we could buy cheaper bus tickets than he was selling.
We are 100% Vicopisano converts now. The location is perfect: half an hour from the beach, Lucca & Pisa. An hour and a half from Florence by public transport!! So easy. And if you can be there for the Medieval Festival like we were, then you will DEFINITELY take home memories to keep for a lifetime. So much fun!
Would we go back? Absolutely!!
Enjoy!

Truly a memorable experience!!!!
My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on this trip and our decision to spend most of our time in Italy at this location was absolutely fantastic. Both Marie and Lorenzo made you feel very special right at the very first encounter. Marie and Lorenzo provided us with an abundance of information, tips, suggestions, recommendations for our stay before and during our time there. The location of Vicopisano was perfect. We wanted a true authentic Tuscany location and this met all of our expectations. The apartment was beautifully decorated and most all of the stones and bricks were from the medieval times. Wow! It was located 2 stories up and while it gives you a workout going up the stairs, you get used to it. The only thing that we wished it had was air conditioning because it can get warm during the summer. But I was told by Marie that they are working on getting an AC unit installed soon, so when this happens, it will be absolutely perfect. Until then, you do have fans in the apartment.
Now as for the excursions, we did the personalized wine tour that they offered and we were so impressed! Just the ride out into the Tuscany country side was awesome..absolutely stunning views and was just like we imagined it. We went to 2 family wineries and they were so inviting and nice. We had personalized tours and wine tastings and the wine was incredible! Very organic wines. We then experienced a tour of Andrea Bocelli's home town and lunch in the village. Fantastic. Later in the week we went to a real Olive farm that produces the best olive oil you will ever taste. We also got to see Kiwi trees, a full tour of the farm and how olive oil is made. Plus you get a delicious tasting along with wine. We bought several items to take back with us.
Our location was so convenient in that you can easily make day trips to the coast or visit other cities like Pisa and Lucca. Highly recommended! And the overall costs for food, wine, etc is so much more affordable than in Florence.
We can't tell you how much we enjoyed this trip! The sights, sounds, tastes and overall true "memorable experience" is what you are going to get with this rental. Marie and Lorenzo really know what their guests like and appreciate and a huge thank you for their hospitality and genuine personalities.
You are not just getting a beautiful Tuscany rental, you are getting wonderful memories. Bene Gratzie, Marie and Lorenzo!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Brent, wow! What a fabulous review, so much feedback and it’s great to know you enjoyed your stay in Tuscany. We are delighted that we were able to make your wedding anniversary a special one and we thank you so much for choosing to stay with us for such an important event.
We had so much fun with you during your stay with us, it’s always great if we can get to spend some time with our guests. It’s nice to know that you found our little corner of Tuscany both authentic and affordable, you are right Florence is very expensive but then most big touristy cities are, but they are also a must do experience and close enough that you can do it in a day. Like our previous guests you were here during our superhot heatwave which caught us all off guard. Yes, you are right we are always looking at ways to install AC however a certain amount of restrictions as we are in the historic centre and the authorities don’t take kindly to the refrigeration units being attached to the Medieval buildings. Casa Colomba is large apartment with 3 main rooms so one internal AC unit is not going to cool every room, but we are looking into it, hopefully the abnormally hot summer will not be repeated! Despite the heatwave it was great to hear that you enjoyed the sights, sounds, tastes and overall true ‘memorable experiences’ during your stay with us. We hope you return and we can have fun all over again.
Warmest wishes

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found the apartment nicely decorated and clean. It's good to hear that you would recommend us 100% and to know that you would like to return. We look forward to the day we welcome you again.

Christian and Denise were fantastic guests and during the 12 nights they stayed with us we got to know them quite well and we enjoyed a night together in the garden over a bottle or two of Prosecco! We are certainly looking forward to welcoming them back to Casa Colomba in the future.
Marie is a force of nature and a natural host. We had the apartment under the roof, ~30 steps and the buzzer for ground-floor door was broken. In August, it gets hot and you need to close windows because of mosquitoes (which also attacked in garden). Place must be wonderful in spring or autumn.
Volker B.
Response from VrboOwner on 28 August 2020
Dear Volker,
Thank you for taking the time to review Casa Colomba and for your kind comment about being a natural host!
I must admit hosting is something that is a complete pleasure for Lorenzo and I and we are so pleased that you appreciated our hospitality, flexibility on an early check-in, restaurant recommendations and concierge service where we booked the restaurants for you.
On the other hand, we were a little bemused about your comment ‘many steps and hot in August’. Traditionally the month of August is hot in Tuscany and I believe that this is a well-known fact. To be honest we would not expect people to book a vacation in Tuscany in August if they suffered from the heat. We had provided fans for you in every room and we were surprised to find that you had actually given one of these fans away to your friends who were staying in a nearby apartment as you declared that you had more fans than necessary!
We are also finding it strange that you had to sleep with the windows closed as there are mosquito screens on all the windows!
Regarding the mosquitoes in the garden - this is a natural phenomenon which occurs throughout rural Tuscany and many Mediterranean countries throughout the Summer. The use of insecticides is rarely welcome by local councils as it is seen as not being extremely healthy for the environment.
Usually, a mosquito repellent keeps them away and when I spent some time with you in the garden, I did notice that you were actually using a repellent!
Regarding the stairs!!! Our listing clearly states that Casa Colomba is a ‘Tower House’ and it is clearly stated in our listing under ‘accessibility’ that there are 34 steps to reach the apartment, so we are not sure why you were surprised by the stairs.
Finally, I must apologise for the broken entrance buzzer (which allows the door to open automatically without the key) which was broken when you arrived. We did explain that the previous guests who departed from the apartment on the same day as your arrival had broken it and that we could provide you with another key until we were able to fix it – however, we apologise that we were not able to get a technician out to fix it during your short stay with us. Sadly, finding tradesmen in Italy at a drop of a hat during the traditional Italian holiday of August can be a little trying!
Despite your discomfort in the August heat, we do hope you give us another chance - maybe it would be a good idea to come at a different time of the year. You were lovely guests and it was nice to meet you all and we would happily host you again.
Take care and best wishes Marie and Lorenzo

Host assolutamente disponibili e attenti. Da consigliare
It's not everyday that I get to stay at a property like this, which made for a memorable experience. Vicopisano is a lovely little town that has just enough going on for the times that you want to stay local, but is perfectly located for day trips in the Tuscan region when you want to explore.
Staying in Casa Colomba was the highlight of our first visit to Italy. The apartment location was perfect for walking around in Vicopisano as well as for traveling to nearby Pisa and Lucca. But what made this stay perfect was the attention and care given to us by Marie. She was always available if we needed anything at all. She knows so much about the local life and helped us with extra side trips. Her suggestions were always "spot-on". Marie: You made our stay one to remember always. We will definitely return to Tuscany! Thank you.

Spent 4 nights at Casa Colomba, couldn't have ask for a better host in Marie or a better location in Vicopisano for visiting the varied and beautiful Tuscan communities. Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Volterra all unique and exquisite in their own ways. Don't miss time in Vicopisano itself. The restaurants are great, wonderful bakery, and the weekend tower tour is worth the effort to look down on the town and miles into the rolling countryside. This place is everything you are building up Tuscany to be in your mind , don't miss it.

Amazing property, amazing romantic vacation spot
This is one of the best vacations we have taken. It started with the prosecco waiting for us when we arrived in this romantic 11th century tower with a wonderful comfy bed but also had everything one would want in our modern world. Marie and Lorenzo were amazing hosts who were there at any time for any questions we needed and helped organize our sightseeing plans so we would see everything we wanted but also had tips on things we didn’t think of and so glad we saw thanks to Marie and she also organized our favorite part of the trip a Tuscan cooking class with our 2 children and olive oil tasting. This truly was a once in a lifetime Italian experience that we will always remember and a must for anyone visiting. You will not be disappointed! Can’t wait to come back again soon

Dear Nicole,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a glowing review,
We are so happy you and your family were comfortable staying in our Medieval apartment, and it is always our pleasure to accommodate our guests in every way we can so that you can have an authentic Tuscan experience. This of course encompasses Prosecco, olive oil and food. Maybe your children will be inspired to become chefs themselves after their cooking class!
We do hope you will be back for more, now you have had a taste of Tuscan life!
Thank you again, it was lovely meeting you all
