About this property
UP NORTH - Charming Chalet
A Charming Family Friendly Chalet in the White Mountains of New Hampshire ~ *Up North* sleeps 6 Adults comfortably and offers 2 Bedrooms; 1 Bathroom; Wi-Fi/high-speed Internet, Smart TV’s (Roku) in the living room and bedrooms and is also well stocked with the conveniences of being home (cooking supplies, condiments, Keurig coffee machine); along with a cozy fire pit on the property. In addition, our guests will have access to (small but cozy) beaches on two private lakes to swim, boat (non-motorized) and fish (no license required).
*Up North* is very rural (almost at the top of a small mountain) and is located in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, in the private Mountain Lakes Resort Community ~ The Chalet is a perfect "home base" for branching out into any direction; for any activity that you may choose to do ~ Our Four-Season Retreat is located on almost an acre of private property in a peaceful, wooded setting, with activities nearby that are suitable for all ages and disciplines. We are also close to ATV and snowmobile trails, marked hiking and walking trails, zip-lining, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and multiple four-season Ski Resorts. We are also a short 15-minute drive away from the VT border for more fun activities.
**For those with mobility issues: The Chalet does have stairs that you will need to climb to gain access to the main living area ~ you can see the layout on the properties photo gallery page** ***There is a Ring Security camera/Motion detector facing the driveway and wildlife camera-side woods*** We apologize in advance for our past guests wrong doings, but unfortunately, a few have left us with no choice but to implement a mandatory pet fee (this will be reflected in payment details). We never wanted to do this, ever, but these unfortunate past circumstances have left us with no choice. We truly love our four-legged guests, but sometimes their owners take advantage and are disrespectful of our home and property. Thank you so much for your understanding! (GPS may take you to Sawyer Hill Road ... Please do not use Sawyer Hill Road during the Winter or early Spring months. Four-wheel drive or front wheel drive is highly recommended throughout Mountain Lakes during the Winter and early Spring months.)

Our second time staying here in February and we had a great time. The owner is great and the kitchen is very well stocked, we cooked every meal of the trip here and it was nice and easy. The outside fenced in area is great for our dog. Looking forward to trip #3 next year.
Up North was such a wonderful stay. It was clean quiet, and a welcome sight and the end of a drive through a snow storm. Which gave us the perfect weekend away!
Very clean. Soft beds. Balcony is lovely in the mornings and evenings. It would have been nice to have a little more direction from the host, along the lines of a book with information you need. Example: it says you need to start the dishwasher before you leave. When i couldn't figure out the power, I called the host and turns out it needs to be pulled to the sink and hooked up. Even with her walking me through it, I couldn't get it hooked up without water still leaking from the faucet, so she told me just to leave it. So little frustrating end, but overall very nice, extremely quiet, peaceful place.
We had a great stay at this little New Hampshire getaway! Great little information binder with lots of good information and loved that they had little very bright flashlights hanging everywhere that actually all worked for just in case! Nice cozy feeling with the white Christmas type lights strung along the beam in the kitchen/dining room area.
House is absolutely adorable and charming. Conveniently located, not far from the places we were going. Very clean, beds were comfortable. We had everything we needed. There was a slight water leak from the toilet into the basement which we communicated to the owner and they were taking care of. Our only suggestion is updating the furniture a little. Couch had many rips and stains on the area rug in the living room which i assume was from pets which is understandable. Overall the place met our expectations and we would revisit!
We had an amazing stay. The place was so clean and roomy loved the dog yard for our pup and the fire pit. It was so relaxing to sit on the deck..we had one rain day and were happy to play inside with our 9 year old in the game room! The lake was awesome. Will definitely book again

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay; it is very peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for booking your vacation with us, and we hope to see you back again soon!!
We had such a lovely time here! We went hiking, swimming in the lake and just chilled at the property! We only had 2 nights but we wish we had stayed longer! The property was lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! My older teenage boys loved the basket ball, the diving board at the lake and walking The Black Mountain! 10/10
This house is really great for everyone who loves beeing in the woods. Our son liked the billard table and the basketball in the garden. The kitchen equipment and the sofa in the living room need a little bit update. There is a great lake nearby.
Carol and Kurt’s home was perfect for our long weekend with our family and dogs! The house had everything we needed and the location was great for hiking. The only downside is we wish we were staying longer to take advantage of the home and its surroundings including the lake for fishing.

Thank you Sharon! We are so glad that you enjoyed your vacation. We try to make sure that we make things as easy as possible for our guests so it’s more relaxing and fun. Hope to see you back again!
We loved our family getaway :) We put the 3 kids up in the loft bedroom, which they all loved. Each had their own bed and they enjoyed watching the TV in the mornings. The place is very warm for winter, so we enjoyed being cosy and either watching movies in the lounge or playing boardgames on the dining table. It’s like a typical chalet (big triangle window view, rustic country decor, wood interior, open plan) but on a smaller scale. Not heaps of excess room (except in the basement/entrance) but it was perfect for us. Kitchen well set up and functional (maybe bring your own pan or favourite utensil if you have fancier cooking plans). For activities we ice skated the trail at Lake Morey, did some sledding at the local lake, and meandered around the town - we recommend the food and atmosphere at the local diner, and the antique / curio store. Would definitely come back!
First, the owner are extremely friendly and are very welcoming, for the chalet is as we saw on the ad, it’s very comfortable and several amenities are present, a vacation spot and absolute tranquility, we greatly appreciated are stay.
Thanks again to the owners!

Welcome and Thank you for choosing Up North for your next vacation getaway; we are delighted that you are here! Our names are Carol and Kurt Haase from CT, and we have been vacationing in New Hampshire with our four children for the past 20+ years. Not only do we vacation Up North with our family; we also love to bring our four-legged furry friends with us too ... they need a vacation just as much as we all do!
Why they chose this property
For years, we would say how we should really look into getting a place of our own, but the timing was never right ... until 2021. We took a chance, ventured out and found our special place in the beautiful Mountain Lakes District, located in Haverhill, NH in the Village of Woodsville, (Grafton County, New Hampshire.) Up North is located in an area where there is more Forest than there are homes, which makes Up North that much more special ~ with lots of peace, quiet, starry nights, and privacy! We were incredibly lucky to find this gem in a beautiful area of New Hampshire; with a plethora of activities for everyone, and we are so thrilled to share it with you too!
What makes this property unique
Haverhill (Woodsville) NH has so much to offer ~ with quaint shops, restaurants, and familiar sites all tied up in one small package ~ there definitely is something for everyone in town!
We are also surrounded by a host of activities for all ages and disciplines, as well as having the option to simply sit back, Enjoy, Relax, and Rejuvenate within our Four-season Resort Community in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
We truly hope that you enjoy your stay with us Up North!
