Nice, clean place, close to metro

The place is exactly as described. Very clean, with comfortable beds. We had trouble with the key pad upon arrival. I had to contact the owner directly because the property manager wasn't answering. Owner figured out the issue for us. Turns out that the instructions that were e-mailed to us were missing a key piece (the instructions that were provided in the guest-book in the unity were much clearer). We enjoyed our stay and the proximity to the metro station. Very diverse neighborhood. Parking was nearby in a garage above the supermarket, super easy walk.

Great location

We arrived a little ahead of schedule, texted property manager and they stated we can get in then. Close to grocery store and target, and some fast food places (all walking distance). The parking garage they suggested that we use was very easy from start to finish (booking the dates and paying online to checking out with the booth at the garage). One thing the picture (description) doesn't state the den/bunk bed room it's in the queen bedroom upstairs.

Great location

The property was in a great location. Property owner allowed us to leave our luggage there before checkin which allowed us to spend most of the day sightseeing luggage free. Other than the kitchen, there wasn’t a room that allowed all of us to hang out. As we mainly just slept there, it worked out fine.

The property was a quirky layout, but it worked for our stay. The location is good with stores and restaurants within a few a few block walk. Although we used Uber the metro is close. We would use this property on our next visit. Thanks for a good stay

DC weekend

Great place with the essentials. Right off the Metro and within walking distance of several grocery stores. We parked our car in the park lot recommended with no issues. The kitchen had everything to cook a meal. Also very affordable. If we go back, would stay there again.

Family trip

The picture that is shown in the ad is the entry hallway. As you open the door to the unit you walk right into a bedroom with a king bed. The unit was wonderful for the family, had everything we needed kitchen washer dryer 2 bathrooms and two bedrooms other than the king bed. You just have to remember it’s 100 year old building.

Very comfortable and great location

This property does have slightly unusual layout but it really worked for our family of four including 2 teenagers, with them taking the upstairs bedrooms. The location is perfect - very near the metro line, only 5 mins walk, and the restaurants and bars in the same area give a huge choice of places to eat and drink. The garden out the back was also a nice option to have. The accommodation layout means there is no living area, but we really did not find this an issue, as the downstairs bedroom can be used as a communal area if needed. The property was spotless, the kitchen well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Lois was easy to contact with any questions and very fast to relpy. Overall a really good find, and exceptional value for money.

Gorgeous property & friendly property manager!

I booked this property for a bridal party weekend in DC. We were having an issue finding a property with 4 separate beds and decided to take chance. We were not disappointed. I was a little worried about parking but there’s plenty of 2 hour street parking to load/unload your luggage and the paid parking lot at Giant (less than block walk) was $30 for the entire weekend. The property itself is gorgeous! The beds were incredibly comfortable, even the bunkbeds. We weren’t able to enjoy the courtyard area due to rain but it’s well maintained and very private. I had the pleasure of meeting the property manager while we were checking out and she’s delightful! I will definitely be renting this property whenever I’m staying in DC. The process from beginning to end was incredibly easy due to constant communication from Lois, the property manager. Great location, great home and great management!

Unconventional but nice for a family stay

The property was accurately listed and well run. The layout is odd - as others have mentioned, you enter the apartment through the main bedroom, which doubles as a living room - but this worked out just fine for us. (It might be a problem for a group whose members would be arriving and leaving at varying hours.) The interior condition and some of the furnishings are old but perfectly serviceable; shower areas in both bathrooms appear recently remodeled. Everything seemed quite clean except one blanket, which we could have quickly washed there if needed (good, recent model laundry machines are provided). When I had a question after arriving, the owners gave quick and helpful answers by text message, and offered in-person help if needed. The neighborhood is mixed, interesting, and generally attractive, and residents seem to have community pride. Lots of useful stores and interesting restaurants nearby. The only drawback we noticed was that (typically for a converted older building), air conditioning was less efficient upstairs than downstairs. There is a single standing fan for air circulation; we could have used another. Overall, we were glad we chose it rather than a hotel.

Disappointing; Management is unorganized and Apt Wasn't Clean on Arrival

Overall, this property is beautiful but extremely poorly managed. It's in a great location (especially for my family; our sister's house is 0.5 miles away), and we could have seen this property being a "go to" for when we all come to visit, but thanks to our disappointing experience (all the details below), we will not be returning. My disappointment started a week before my second payment was due. I started getting messages from the owner saying that my second payment was due (it wasn't for another week). The owner was quick to respond (apparently they were automated messages), but I kept getting them! It left me thinking I was messing something up when I wasn't. Arrival at the property was a complete disaster. We didn't get into town until late Friday night, and when we arrived, they had changed the code to the apartment, so we couldn't get in. We had to call management at 11 PM. BUT, once we got inside, we noticed that none of the beds were made, and there were clearly crumbs and evidence of people on the sheets. It was disgusting. We had to call them back and have the cleaning service come at 11 PM!! The woman arrived and apologized, but it took over an hour for her to change all the sheets and provide us with clean towels. We were so exhausted that we asked her just to come back the next day to clean the rest of the apartment (which she did). However, that meant that the bathrooms weren't stocked with shampoo, soap, or extra toilet paper (not our job to remember to ask for these items at midnight when we're exhausted and they would have been stocked naturally during a full cleaning). There are also multiple codes for the WiFi (which is not good) and barely any dishes for a home that sleeps 6. The one positive about this home is its close proximity to the Metro and my sister's house, and the beds were comfortable. On top of everything else, and even after multiple messages left, the owner never responded to my husband's and my (kind) requests to chat about the situation. She ended up compensating us $50 (about 10% of what we paid for 2 nights), but without any "I'm so sorry" or response at all. All we kept being told was that she manages a lot of properties and is very busy. That shouldn't matter when you have messed up so badly. I organized this trip for my parents (their first time using VRBO) and sister/brother-in-law. None of us were happy, and we should have at least gotten an apology. Very disappointing experience.

Not Safe, Not clean, Unresponsive Owner

So many issues, had to cut to fit character requirement. Hazards: 1. Faulty, exposed, rigged wring for Halogen lights under the kitchen cabinets. Fire hazard. 2. Holes in the wood flooring of the 2nd story. In the bedroom there are holes under a rug in the flooring. Owner GLUED a throw rug over the holes on to their wood floors!!! to conceal 3. Black mold in the upstairs bedroom. The window in the upstairs bedroom isn't securely attached to the house with gaping cracks all around the window a Black mold/mildew substance is growing in these cracks. As this is also the window for the AC unit, the AC can't efficiently cool the room, as hot air from the outside is rushing in through these cracks. 4. Staircase is so tight that where it turns my husband kept hitting his head on the ceiling. The stair handrail is also wobbly. Putrid, rotting smell coming from somewhere around the staircase. 5. Backdoor to the laundry area has a deadbolt lock that doesn't work. The bolt doesn't go into the hole to secure the door. Laundry room is full of construction debris. Issues with cleanliness: 1. Pubic hair and mold in the downstairs shower. 2. The upstairs mattress has urine and blood stains. 3. Glasses and kitchenware were dusty and dirty. 4. The owner hoards items from past guests. In the upstairs shower there was a crusty half-used bottle of lotion. No one puts on lotion in the shower. There's only one thing I can think of that a person might due with lotion in a shower that has nothing to do with moisturizing... There were half-eaten jars of peanut butter in the kitchen, half-used kids' coloring books left in the upstairs nightstand, the list goes on and on... I understand recycling and reusing things, but it was gross... 5. Carpets and floors were dirty among other things in the house. 6. There were huge rats running around in the front yard. 7. Lied about the size of this unit. The unit we had reserved was listed as 2k square feet - it is MAYBE half that size. Every single room is physically uncomfortable and awkward. 8. No shampoo, conditioner, or body wash provided other than the stuff clearly left by past guests. Though they did put signs threatening "inventory" of the laundry soap that had one use left in it. To make matters worse, when you called/texted/sent messages through the VRBO chat the owner often refused to respond. INCLUDING HER SELF-DESCRIBED "EMERGENCY NUMBER. Fighting to a get refund promised by the owner...
