About this property

Wally's Cabin | Hot Tub|Kayaks|Fire Pit|Fireplace

Come stay at Wally's Cabin! This tradtional cabin comes with many features to get you in a peaceful and relaxing mindset, but what's even better is the location. secluded, yet close to Lake Wallenpaupack. This home resides right down the street from downtown Hawley, restaurants, and countless activities. Come enjoy hanging out in the fully fenced backyard with a chimenea, or take a quick drive to do a local venture such as hiking, fishing, restauranting, bar hopping, kayaking, even festivals!

As a superhost for the past 2 years, we have just decided to adopt this neighboring property. We have a place for a few years and are super familiar with the street/location, but this specific cottage is new to us. That being said we are here to accommodate and welcome you to this warm and cozy cabin with all the amenities of a traditional Poconos home.

Inside, guests will find a fully equipped Stainless Steel kitchen ready for any cooking they plan to do. The refrigerator has filtered drinking water and ice. The living room adjacent to the kitchen includes a 50" smart TV, Classic NES & PS1, and board games. Caty-corner to the couch and loveseat is a beautiful cast iron gas fireplace that turns on to keep you cozy with the flip of a switch. We leave custom getaway guides on the coffee table that includes information on the property and the local area with our personal recommendations. The living room coffee table doubles as a place to sit and eat in the offseason or enjoy a nice dinner outside at the front & rear picnic tables in the warmer months. Enclosed in the couch is a Queen pullout sofa bed.

Just through the back door is the enclosed porch. There is a firepit right outside the back perfect for roasting marshmallows on a gravel patio and a picnic table adjacent. Enjoy the light breeze from the the lake under the Edison lights glazing overhead. Soak and relax in the 4-Person Hot Tub located right around the corner. Off the back deck is a new 4 burner Weber grill with provided propane. To the right of the house/driveway is an area for boat/snowmobile trailer parking.

The entire Backyard and Game Shed are fully fenced in which is perfect for children or your four legged friends. Kids will love hanging out inside this unique place perfect for them. There you will will find foosball, Giant Jenga and more.

There are 2 kayaks on the side of the property and 2 more kayaks and a double-person canoe at the neighboring property. Life jackets must be worn. The kayaks/canoes can be launched at the public boat launch a short drive away, or wheel them a few blocks to Walt's and pay a small fee to drop them in there. (We have carts to walk them down the street). Note, these are shared between our 3 houses and are first come first serve.

We do not provide firewood, but out front is a self service station with wood for sale provided by a local company (Cash or electronic payment) . This way you don't have to worry about to transporting it.

*Please note there is a $75 one-time dog fee which allows you to bring up to 2 dogs on the property during your trip. We are dog lovers but ask that you keep your furry friends off the furniture and clean up after them for the sake of other renters. Waste bags provided from dispenser in backyard. Add your dogs to the reservation for the dog fee to be applied please.

Going back inside through the living room is a quaint hallway. To the left of the rear hallway there is a master bedroom (Queen) and to the right is a second bedroom (Full w/ Twin Bunk). There is a closet in each of the bedrooms as well as a dresser.

Your booking included sheets, pillows (2 per guest), towels (1 per guest), hot tub towels (1 per guest), wash clothes (1 per guest), 2 hand towels, toiletries (body wash, shampoo, and conditioner), and some basic supplies (Dish Soap, 2 trash bags, 2 paper towels, 2 toilet paper rolls, and hand soap) to get your stay started.

We look forward to providing you with the best experience to make your trip unforgettable, and it is our goal for you to enjoy it so much we will see you every year! Come enjoy Wally's Cabin!

There is no lake access with the property. If you want to swim in the lake you must use the public beach 5 minutes away (MDW - LDW). For launching boats/Kayaks you can use the public Launch (1.5 miles away), or Walt’s Landing Marina(2 blocks away). If available Walt's sometimes has rental slips (Call ahead).

The neighborhood is walking friendly. Feel free to walk around 6th street and Paupack Point Road with your four-Legged friends. The driveway can accommodate a maximum of 3 vehicles and 1 boat/snowmobile trailer or 4th vehicle.

As an avid renter myself I know the importance of privacy, yet knowing the owner is available at a moments notice if any issues were to arise. Because of this, transparency is key for our guests to have the absolute best experience possible. Our goal is to have a 5 start stay with each booking. With each booking there will be contactless access to the property with a digital keycode. A digital guidebook will be provided prior to the stay as well as a paper copy of the same guidebook on the coffee table. Everything will be explained in this guidebook for an easy yet rewarding experience for the guests. Should anything else arise I will be available through messaging and will be able to provide responses promptly. We take great pride in making the stay as easy as possible, and have done our best to make the property as user friendly and accommodating as possible during the recent renovations.

Walt's Landing and the surrounding communities are some of the original lakeside developments around the Lake. The Lake House resides a short drive up a dead end private street with plenty of privacy, yet is easy to get in and out. The lake itself has 52 miles of shoreline that allows fishing, boating (No HP restriction), and swimming. Rubber Duckie Boat rentals is a 7 minute drive, and Palmayra Public Beach is only 5 minutes away. Mangan Cove which is a very nice public boat launch is only a 3 minute drive and there is enough room on the property for a boat/snowmobile trailer to be parked as well.

The Lake House is about a 2 hour drive from NYC, and a 2 and a half hour drive from Philly. Standard phone mapping apps are all effective to route your path to the Lake House. Don't hesitate to contact us for more specific directions, if needed. While in Hawley, a car is necessary to get around. There are Ubers and Lyfts available, but they are unreliable. There are a few attractions and restaurants that are walking distance from the property, but to experience most of what Hawley has to offer, you will need a vehicle.

During checkout you will see the prompt "Refundable deposit paid at property." This is an automatically generated prompt and is not the case. The Deposit is a security deposit is Authorization that is charged on the day of check-in. Please note Stripe Payment Fees are non-refundable.

**No RWD vehicles in winter months due to small hill on entrance to street and no alternative parking. Road/Driveway/Sidewalk snow does get plowed and maintained but timing depends on storms. AWD/4WD is best in winter months if attending during snowstorms**

Perfect Babymoon
My husband and I wanted a quiet place to spend a long, relaxing weekend for our babymoon. This location was perfect. The neighborhood was quiet and we were able to take walks every day. It was also a very short drive to plenty of places to eat. We loved that we were also able to bring our dog along with us and that the back yard was fenced in so he didn't have to be on a leash the whole time. We did experience some snowfall during our stay (about 2 inches), but this wasn't a problem as Matt arranged for a plow to take care of the road and even shovel the walkways in the front and back of the house. Matt was very good about communication and was always quick to answer questions we had. We'd love to come back to the area in the future during a warmer time of year to fully experience what the area has to offer.

Nice Long Weekend Retreat
We wanted a place nearby to hiking trails and nature, and we got it here! Host was very communicative and nice. The cabin had everything we needed and wanted - comfortable bed and living room space, kitchen with plenty of supplies to cook with (plus olive oil and spice rack) and a hot tub and fire pit outside which we took advantage of. We were close to a few breweries which allowed our dog to be with us, as well as hiking trails like Lacawac sanctuary and Shuman Point. We walked around the lake. It was all very nice and we enjoyed our stay there.
