This little one-room cabin is ADORABLE! It has everything you need (and nothing you don't) for a quiet getaway to fill your soul. It has lots of light from large windows looking out at the woods and the Amnicon River valley, and access to hiking trails and our large private sandy beach on the South Shore of Lake Superior.
Here are a few things you'll want to know before you book this cabin: - The cabin is clean, comfortable, and elegant, but still quite rustic. The cabin is available year-round, with a propane fireplace for your main source of heat. It has electricity, but no running water. In the kitchenette is a water dispenser for washing & drinking. Adjacent to the cabin is your own private low-odor outhouse that has a little heater and a light you can turn on from inside the cabin. Just a one-minute walk from the cabin is the main lodge, which has public restrooms for showers and flushing toilets. - There is no drive-in access to this cabin. You can unload your vehicle about a one or two-minute walk from the cabin. We offer hand carts and/or utility sleds for bringing luggage to the cabin. The cabin is down a slight hill from the unloading area. After you've unloaded your vehicle, we'll ask you to park your car back in the parking lot along the side of the road. - We want to be as transparent as possible about what the cabin is like. In addition to the photos, we have a short 4-minute video tour that shows the layout and surroundings in more detail. We’re happy to share this video with you after booking or upon request. Just send us a message!

I love staying at Camp Amnicon! It is the quiet and solitude I need as I live in a hectic city with a hectic life. Quietude was a great cabin and I will be back for sure. The amenities are just right and I like that I don't have to bring much! The South shore area of Superior is beautiful and not offers a calm and just the right kind of disconnect. I will be back for sure!
Wonderful property - my extended family rented all 6 cabins for a few nights after a wedding. Cabins are clean and comfortable, property is beautiful, staff is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed campfires every night and paddling on the river and swimming in the lake.
The property is beautiful, the cabin was clean and perfect. The fire pit was great! Check-in and directions were spot on, easy. Loved it!! Would love to go back!
liked the cabin very much - the accessories to heat up the outhouse was a great idea - ants started to inhabit cabin on the last day; will need to address that soon
We loved the quiet solitude of the property. We explored the trails and shoreline, played games, read books, and relaxed. It was the perfect get-away for our birthdays.
Great little cabin in a fairly remote area. Access to Lake Superior South shore is about a 20 min hike on a nice trail. Amenities feel very similar to most commercial/county campsites. Plenty of parking. Keep in mind there is no AC on the cabin but there is heat. Fun little place to stay.
What a lovely cabin! My husband and I spent a few days away from the city and were delighted to find this little gem. We enjoyed the quietness of the area and the beautiful beach as well.
If you are looking for a peaceful a.k.a. can’t hear any traffic, glamping, nature filled, 10 minute walk to Lake Superior getaway. This is the place for you.
My 16 yr old daughter and I stayed for a long weekend and it was perfect. We got to see a porcupine on Porcupine Trail and enjoy the cool evenings with all the windows open. It's a small slice of heaven.
We were very impressed with the facilities. Everything was just as described! We only wish we would have had more free time in our schedule to explore the grounds. Beautiful area! Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this little cabin. Though i wish there was better cell phone service it was a peaceful get away. Having the beach a short mile walk away was a perk. It is slightly inconvenient to have to walk to the showers and there isnt much for privacy
Convenience of proximity / Rejuvenation of seclusion
We were able to go out to eat at some fun restaurants for supper each night. At the same time, we felt as though we were hours away from the hustle and bustle. Nature was all around, yet conveniences kept everything hassle free! We will recommend this get-away to friends and family. We will definitely come back multiple times.
Cabins are great and just what we needed for a weekend getaway from our busy lives. Cabin is super cute and clean making it a great place to stay. Outhouse is very clean and close to the cabin. Property is beautiful and large. Unfortunately there wasn't any snow this year but we still hiked up to the Lake and enjoyed a walk along the beach. Would be a great place to go snowshoeing when there is snow.
We stayed in the Quietude cabin and it was a wonderful escape from the craziness of life. The cabin is VERY clean and comfortable. Amnicon is a lovely location. About the only thing that wasn’t great was the condition of the trail past the clamping tents. The trail was overgrown and impossible to use.

About the host
Hosted by Camp Amnicon
Camp Amnicon Adventures & Retreats is a high-adventure summer camp that offers guided wilderness trips to small groups of middle & high school students. We are ELCA-affiliated, and welcoming to people of all genders, races, and backgrounds. Our mission is to guide people to experience Grace & Growth in the wild places of creation. We hope that you get to experience deep peace while you're here.
At our base-camp, we rent out 6 small/personal retreat cabins and a big four-season lodge, as well several as hike-in campsites and seasonal glamping wall-tents. The cabins are far enough apart from each other and the main public spaces of the camp that you will get a nice amount of privacy. But you should also expect to see other people around the main areas of camp, at the beach, on the walking-paths, and in the public restrooms in the lodge. If you'd like to see a map of the grounds before making a reservation, feel free to send us a message and we'll be more than happy to share it with you.
99% of the year, our site is quiet and serene. There are a few days during the summer when we'll have several groups of campers coming through base-camp for day of orientation before they head out on their guided adventure trips. If you'd like to avoid these high-traffic days, please contact us prior to making your reservation. We're more than happy to share with you how busy we might expect any particular dates to be.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or need help deciding if our cabins will be a good fit for you!
