Good points:
1) Quiet neighborhood an easy walk from 2 grocery stores, the Hip Strip, downtown, the university campus, and the Rail Trail along the river. 2) Apartment was clean (except for bits of dried food in refrigerator). 3) Kitchen equipment is adequate for basic use.
Bad points:
1) No apparent heat control. Posted instructions showed a radiator with adjustable valve, but the only radiator is in the bathroom and it wasn't on (which was fine). Rather, the apt has baseboard heating but no thermostat or discernible way to adjust the heat. I opened windows in January to control the temp. My text to the host for more info went unanswered. 2) Bad lighting. Ceiling lights are in living and dining areas and kitchen, but ceiling light/fan in bedroom didn't work (dead remote control, nonworking wall switch or burned out bulb?). Additional lamps included only a klieg-light floor lamp in living area and equally glaring wall lamp in dining area, both terrible for any sense of social space. Additional "mood" lamps on bedside tables keep you from walking into walls but are too dim for anything else. 3) Noise upstairs. If the Upper unit is unoccupied, be glad. It was occupied for part of my stay and the floors are so creaky that I could hear every step they took, as well as their conversations.
