About this property
The Loft At The Inn At High Falls
We recently renovated 'The Loft' with a flare toward 'country chic' by combing farmhouse style with industrial accents. As you walk in, you will be enchanted by large windows overlooking the Inn's property as well as our farm across the road. From the great windows in the living space you will immediately notice the views of our 1800 dairy barn as well as Mohonk Mountain with seasonal views of the Tower. There is a fully equipped kitchen that is perfect to cook in. The open bedroom for The Loft is on the second floor looking down on to the entire living space. In addition to the common yard with a fire pit, The Loft also comes with a private screened in porch with a lounge area and dining area . There is one bathroom, nicely appointed with a large walk in tile shower. In the event you need extra sleeping, one of the couches opens to a queen size bed.
The property is served by a private artisan well drilled into the local bedrock. This area naturally contains sulfur in the rock, which means our water has a mild sulfur smell and taste. After periods of heavy rain, the water can temporarily pick up a bit more sulfur as it filters through the ground - this is completely normal for wells in this region.
The water is safe and is fine for showering. It is also safe for cooking and drinking but bottled spring water dispensers are provided in each unit. Most guests tell us they stop noticing it after the first day or two. And we have an extensive water system to treat water specifically that contain sulfur to minimize the effect.
We wanted to mention it up front so you know exactly what to expect!

Had a wonderful stay, check-in was seamless thanks to our helpful and attentive host Frank and Rich. The loft had everything we needed for a nice quiet getaway.
The overall stay was very pleasant. The property was easy to find and the check process went smoothly. The cabin was very clean upon arrival and everything was as the host described it. The kitchen facilities were nice and spacious. While we didn’t cook much, it was nice to use for small meals. The bathroom was also neat and clean.
We loved our stay! The property is beautiful and comfortable, we especially enjoyed the screened in porch for eating meals and relaxing while reading books. We took advantage of the grill and the fire pit as well. Location is very close to great outdoor activities. Highly recommend!
Frank's place had everything we needed for the perfect end to summer weekend. He was responsive and his instructions were easy. We hope to come back someday!

Loved this place ! It had everything we needed. We appreciated the extra towels and ice in the fridge. We also appreciated the screened back porch nestled in the trees. The furniture and decor were truly inspiring . Thank you for the extra pillows and bedding. Oh and the shower was huge and spa like. Thank you so much.

The property was interesting - I loved the loft sleeping area. The living room furniture was a little threadbare, but serviceable and comfortable. Guests should be aware that the water is very sulphuric, with a strong odor. The host provided bottled water and bags of ice in the freezer, so this was not much of an issue except when showering. The bed was extremely comfortable. It took some hunting to find the cutlery in the kitchen!
Overall we had a good stay but need to point out a few things. We had a hard time finding the house - GPS kept sending us to the wrong place. Found out about the new name for the road from a neighbor and we’re able to find it. Screens on the screened in porch especially the door should be replaced. The inside of the house was great especially the shower and very comfortable bed.

Not what we expected
Upon arrival there was a guy sitting in his car in the driveway. After a while I asked who he was and he was apparently living in a studio downstairs. I feel we should have been made aware other people would be staying in the property. Also had see through curtains and no blinds so there was not much privacy. We made the best of it but definitely not what we hoped for
It's a beautiful rental, but this house gave us some problems.
We were not aware until after booked that this has an exterior stairway to enter (there are no photos showing the entrance from the outside in the ad; I learned about it on Google Maps). Being seniors, we would not have booked the Loft.
The other issue we had was the water: It smelled powerfully of sulfur. I'm told this is not toxic, but it was immediately noticeable when entering the rental. It also tarnished all of our silver jewelry, from just hand and dish washing.
I had the occasion to speak briefly with the owner. He was friendly and seemed eager to help with any issue. But I don't think there was anything he could have done to resolve those issues during out stay.
