The house was just what we needed for a family get a way. The dogs and are teens loved it. The weather was cold, rainy and windy but the house kept us nice and warm and cozy. We had everything we needed and more. The sauna was a special treat too:) Thank you for a wonderful visit. We hope to return next year:)

Thank you so much! We're glad the house was just what you needed for your family getaway and that the teens and dogs enjoyed it. Sorry about the cold, rainy weather, but glad the place kept you warm and cozy and that the sauna was a special treat. You’re welcome back anytime — we’d love to host you again next year!
Everything about the cottage was amazing. Check in was easy. The house was very clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the back yard was delightful. Even the fur babies loved being able to run in the fenced in yard. Rachel answered all of my questions in a very timely manner. We would absolutely stay here again if we are ever in the area.
The hosts were wonderful and provided superb communication and instructions. The house had everything we needed, was easy to check in and check out, nice neighborhood, definitely would go again!
We had a lovely winter week in this cozy cottage in peaceful Annisquam. We especially enjoyed the sauna, which is in a separate building a few steps from the house. Our hostess was very responsive with the few questions we had. Downtown Gloucester is easily accessible with its bookstores, world-class museum, and great seafood.
This little gem was a perfect location for our sisters getaway. It is walking distance to the beach and has fantastic greenbelt trail at the end of the road, which was perfect for walking the pup.
We loved the layout of the cottage and felt very cozy and comfortable the entire time. Rachel, the owner, was responsive and helpful every time we reached out. Highly recommend this gem!
Very nice rustic getaway home, the house is obviously very old but everything works just fine. I was very comfortable during my stay. I didn’t like that the heater in the half bathroom doesn’t work and there’s no bottle opener other than that everything was perfect

Thanks for letting us know that the bottle opener was missing! We love hearing feedback so we can take care of things like that right away.
Spend the night here before our half in Gloucester! Really enjoyed the space. The 3 season rooms were a little chilly but the space heater helped (it was high 40s while we were here). Heads up the upstairs rooms get pretty toasty at night while the downstairs ones are chilly. It was manageable we just arranged who was sleeping where by what people preferred. Felt super safe and it was very clean. Kitchen well equipped-we had a lovely pasta night!! Beautiful property wish we were staying in the summer to enjoy the back yard.

Liked: Cleanliness, communication
The property was clean, beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. Whenever we had a question, the owner answered quickly.
The stairs are very steep, which is common in older homes, just mentioning that for people who have difficulty going up and downstairs.
We could not get the sauna to work, the owner sent instructions, but we just couldn’t get it to work for us – there must be a secret? Also, the cottage advertises a have a tub shower, which it does, but we could not get the tub to hold water.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly hello from the neighbors, who had a beautiful black lab named Betty. At that moment we knew we picked the right place Betty was my mother in law’s name and our main purpose for coming to Gloucester was to plant pansies at her head stone for Easter (That was our sign we picked the perfect place) The house was immaculately clean and neat ! Rachel was awesome with communication and checked in via messaging a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed. The sauna was just what I needed for some relaxing meditation, and falling asleep to the sounds of spring was exactly what we needed ( coming from Northern Vermont snow/mud season) Everything was just right. The house had really good vibes, you could feel the warmth. I get some won’t understand that feeling, but I do and it can make for a peaceful time away from home. The North Shore is where my husband grew up and it holds such great memories ! Thank you Rachel for sharing your home away from home. I highly recommend this rental. This will become our go to spot for coming to the North Shore. The proximity to all the restaurants and shops without being in the middle of it is perfect !

About the host
Hosted by Rachel Steeg
My family and I have been on the North Shore for the last 10 years and love exploring all that this area has to offer! We love to enjoy Gloucester beaches, or adventure to local coffeeshops and breweries. When I'm not managing vacation rentals I am working for a local nonprofit mentoring middle and high school students or chasing around our growing toddler! We love traveling as a guest and getting to experience new places in unique homes. Some of our favorite spots have been in Sarasota, Santa Barbara, and Montreal. I'm looking forward to hosting you here in our neck of the woods. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Why they chose this property
Annisquam is one of our favorite neighborhoods in Gloucester. This gorgeous seaside village is full of character and tucked away from much of the tourist areas in Gloucester.
What makes this property unique
This home is a quiet retreat away from it all - and one of the only homes in the area to offer a private sauna on site!!
