Weekend at the Mountain

Some friends and I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights to board all weekend at the mountain. The place was very cute and clean, great location for going to White Pass as well and close to stores. It was very peaceful and the hot tub was great for soaking in and star gazing after a day on the mountain.

Perfect for our Mount Rainier Adventure

A friend and I come to Mount Rainier each year to hike together, this is year 8 of the 20 years we committed to doing it. We were super happy to find this comfy little cabin that met all our needs. It was hot while we were there, so the air conditioning unit they had in the living room was very much appreciated. We especially loved being able to enjoy a soak in the hot tub while sipping coffee or tea in the mornings. I'd highly recommend this place to stay as a launching spot to enjoy the national park.

Cute little place

We enjoyed this cute cabin and the location within walking distance to town was great. The hot tub was excellent after hiking. I would suggest some improvements in the lighting. The cabin was a little dark and a few warmer lamps would be a nice touch. I would also suggest putting some doors or curtain to hide the laundry area. We enjoyed our stay and would like to return sometime.

Home with a great backyard

This cabin feels like home the 5 days. The cabin have all the accommodations and convenient of home but with the view of Mount Rainier in the background. The place is conveniently located to packwood, and near a market. You can get all the ingredients for cooking while staying there, making this truly a home away from home. It is only 20 minutes away from Mount rainier and an hour away from Mount St. Helen. Marily made the booking, checking in, and checking out very smoothly. Better than staying at a 5 star resort for a much lower price.

Great Weekend in Packwood

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) had a wonderful time staying at this cabin in Packwood. The location was perfect for visiting Mt. Rainier. We also went to Mount St. Helens. The cabin was well equipped for our stay. We cooked many of our meals and found everything we needed for cooking. I did bring my own olive oil and some seasonings that my family enjoys. The location of the cabin was within walking distance to town. The hot tub was a nice feature and we enjoyed relaxing outside! We are already planning a return trip!

Comfortable home base

This is a comfortable, homey, quiet cottage which we used as a base forour 4 night trip to visit Mt. Rainier, Mt. Saint Helen, and other places in between. Note that it is also referred to as "Hall Creek Cabin". There's a good view of Mt. Rainier just a few feet out of the front door. We drove many extra miles because the map we were using didn't show forest roads on it, so confirm that you have a good map. We especially enjoyed the pizza in Packwood at Cruisers - some of the best we've had. The owners were very helpful.

Great Visit

My husband & I stayed here for a week honeymooning. We wanted to rest, and enjoy privacy & a peaceful & beautiful setting. We found it here! We were able to easily walk to Packwood for groceries & a stretch of the legs & driving nearby was beautiful & pleasant. We enjoyed the neighborhood elk & the creek so close as well as the stunning Mt. Rainier views we could glimpse from a window or drink in right outside the door! The cabin was clean & comfortable, with a very well appointed kitchen. Interactions with the owner were pleasant & we were completely informed of everything we needed to know & accommodated with our dates of stay, and even given a weather report the day we drove out to the cabin since there had been a new snowfall. Access to the cabin was easy from the highway, but there was no road noise. We had no cell service. Perfect.

Excellent deal, clean and comfy

This is our second stay in this home. The owner is professional and prompt- also fair. The first time, we were accidentally directed to the wrong home, and had to move all our stuff out (there was a lot- it was the end of a 6 week trip) to another house. She compensated us by giving a 1/2 night credit. The house is always immaculate and well maintained. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is well stocked. Small hot tub is very comfortable. We also did not have to pay extra when we had a last minute addition to the party. 4 people are covered by the fee. The housekeeper lives on site- a nice bonus. We ran our of garbage bags (there was originally only 1 extra, and we were there for 5 nights), and she promptly gave us more, saving a trip to the store.

Great mountain cabin

We have stayed at Fred and Marilly’s Hall Creek Cabin as well as Baby Bear’s Den. First, the location is great We primarily stay to ski at White Pass. The cabins are close to Hwy 12 but not too close, we haven’t had any issue with road noise. Depending on conditions it seems like the ski area is about 20-25 minutes away. The grocery store and other stuff in Packwood is also only a couple of minutes away. The cabins are clean and well furnished, and we enjoy the hot tub. There has been a coffee maker with filters, which is something I really appreciate. Something we especially appreciate about these cabins is that they are pet-free. My son is allergic to dogs and cats and we can really tell the difference when we stay at a pet-free rental. If you do rent here, which you should, please, keep the cabins pet-free. The Hall Creek cabin has two beds and was perfect for me and my son. Baby bear’s den is a bit bigger and fancier and would be more appropriate for a bigger group.

"We wash the bar soap between guests"

The title says it all... We arrived to find a not so clean bathroom with products left from the last guest, sticky tile floor, and grimy bathtub. When we brought it to the owner's attention, we received about 4 paragraphs on how the cabin Was Clean and how they wash the bar soap between guests as to help keep costs low and conserve. Who wants to use someone else's bar soap? We further found it funny that the owners were so defensive on the cleanliness... Simply apologize that standards weren't met and how can they fix it... That would have been a difference between a 2 star and a 4 star as this property certainly isn't a 5 star experience. Last note: if the cabin was so clean... how did we find the (assuming) last guests wallet? The owner refunded the deposit and cleaning fee in a timely manner.

Why they chose this property

We love the mountains, and Packwood is very like Switzerland, only the mountains are smaller and farther apart. It is in the center of Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, 10 miles from the southeast entrance to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, and surround by Tatoosh, William O Douglass, and Goat Rocks Wilderness areas. There is a constant flow of wildlife including: elk, coyotes, raccoon, fox, bald eagles, beaver and more with year round recreational activities.

What makes this property unique

We spent every weekend for almost a year in Hall Creek Cabin while we built the Rainier View Lodge. We really made it our home away from home. I enjoyed the hot tub under a star studded sky, the song of Hall Creek, wood smoke on the wind and the plethora of passing elk . . . what a combination! It's a great place to dream and build!
