Caribbean Castaway boasts a lush sprawling lawn which is unique on St Thomas ,beautiful gardens and direct water access. Walk directly into our private lagoon for swimming or snorkeling or enjoy spectacular views from the beach or private point under the palm trees. All bedrooms offer the most beautiful ocean front views on the island. No one gets stuck with a lousy view. All bedrooms offer en suite bathrooms, and their own balcony overlooking the infinity edge pool, across the professionally landscaped sweeping grounds out to the water's edge. Swaying palms, multi-colored flowers , and the resident iguanas are a treat for all. Thatch Cay, The British Virgin Islands and St. John are all within view. A stunning stone cottage for two, recreated from the designs of the sugar mills from the past is situated just 20 feet from
the water's edge. If your plans include playing on the lawn, relaxing by the pool, swimming or snorkeling in the sparkling turquoise waters directly off of our property -it is all right here in your backyard. Other properties boast about a short drive or walk to the beach, at Caribbean Castaway there is no need to drive or walk to enjoy beautiful sand and direct access into the water. You have it right on the property.

This location is perfect. If your plans include visiting the famous beaches of St Thomas Lindquist Beach (the new Magens Bay) and Sapphire Beach both offer life guard supervision and are a two minute drive from the house.The town of Red Hook is just a five minute drive, where you will find delightful restaurants, live entertainment, groceries, shopping, boat rentals, marinas, dive expeditions etc. There you can also catch the ferry every hour to St. John and the British Virgin Islands.

Caribbean Castaway is a six bedroom, solar powered 'green' villa on a one acre water front piece of heaven. High vaulted natural Cypress ceilings, large glass windows and doors, comfortable interior furnishings create the perfect island atmosphere. Art work by local Caribbean artists include Guy Harvey, Elaine Estern and Jonna White are featured throughout the villa. The Mahogany front door, hand built and carved by a local artist is one of the architectural focal points of the house . The gourmet kitchen features Bosch appliances, granite counters, two refrigerators, stand alone ice maker and is fully equipped to cook a gourmet meal for 12 or simply reheat leftovers. For your entertainment, satellite tv and a separate media room with a 55' flat screen television and surround sound, complement the main living area. High speed totally secure Wi-Fi is provided for continued access while away. Additionally, there are hard wire Lan connections in the Bedrooms and Office for even more security.
The air conditioned main house features five bedrooms, four with king size beds and one with two twins (which can be converted into king bed ) The cottage, the sixth bedroom, is equipped with air conditioning , a king size bed and a beautiful stone shower. All the bedrooms and cottage feature individual climate control, luxury linens, plush bath towels, flat screen tv's and DVR's.

In St. Thomas the outside living space is just as important as the inside. Caribbean Castaway is equipped with a large gas grill, outdoor stone pool bar, pool bathroom, expansive covered porch/terrace and a pool deck featuring coral tile imported from the Dominican Republic. The infinity edge pool features a glass mural of a coral reef and turtles swimming on the bottom. A generous size soaking ledge allows you to comfortably lounge with your chair in the water. For additional enjoyment away from the house there is open space on the lawn for you and your guests.

50th Anniversary Celebration with Family

Our family of 11, ages 11-80, stayed at the property the last week of March to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely perfect! The accommodations were excellent with privacy but large general areas by the pool, waterfront, living room and media room. We had several meals at the large 12 person table outside as well as the 12 person table inside. Since everyone is encouraged to leave unused supplies, the kitchen is well stocked. Be sure to check in before heading to the store because you probably won’t need to buy spices, etc. for cooking. Location is excellent being so close to the beaches and Red Hook. Great views! The only mistake we made was watching the sunset on the first evening without spraying for bugs. Several of us were attacked by the “no see ums” and had uncomfortable bug bites the next day. We cooked several meals but had Chef Romeo cook a special anniversary dinner for the group. It was the best meal we had during the vacation. While the men and kids went fishing with Drift Charters, we had Spa to Go come to the property for massages. Again, fantastic service and so convenient! Alyssa from A Minuto Photography met us at Sapphire Beach to take professional photos. They were beautiful! We also did a half day 50’ private sailing catamaran ride and went zip lining with Tree Limin’ Extreme. There was plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful pool, play games, & snorkel off the beach. Perfect property!!

What a nice great getaway!

WOW! We had such a nice time. We were a group of friends looking for a relaxing trip. The point down by the cabana was just beautiful. We also enjoyed looking at the water from the pool, it was calming. We hired Chef Romeo to come into the home and cook for us a couple times. He was simply amazing. So pleasant to work with, his food and presentation was so perfect for us (I honestly wish he could have come to our own home). What a kind, knowledgeable guy! Spa To Go for in home massages. What professionals they are! Great way to relax! The beach area is nice but getting into the water is tough, so make sure to have sturdy water shoes. The water for us was a little "rough" but we watched for lower tides and made the best of it. Beautiful property and very well taken care of. Highly recommend for R&R. If looking for beach swimming, its a little rough

Great stay near Sapphire Beach

This is a wonderful property with a perfect outdoor area. Great pool and a large enough yard that the grandkids could run around and explore. The rooms are large and well appointed. The fully stocked kitchen and media room were highlights. This is, by far, the best place I've stayed in a very long time. The walk to Sapphire Beach which we did everyday to enjoy the wonderful beach, great restaurants and bars is really only possible by walking around a stony point in the water. That route takes just a few minutes. The walk along the main road is not a good option as it's much longer and a bit dangerous, especially at night. This place is really perfect.

Wonderful family memories made!

We planned a trip to St Thomas to include 11 family members ages 1-70. This house was PERFECT! Booking and communication before the trip was great. We were delayed a bit coming into St Thomas due to weather but the property managers were patient and met us at the house when we got there a couple hours late. The house was exactly as described in the VRBO post. It was laid out well and allowed for meals and fun times together inside and out. However, if someone wanted to have quiet time or take a nap, the bedrooms were off to the side of the main house and allowed for quiet privacy even if others were still awake, which was nice. The view from the house was spectacular and the waterfront perfect for catching sunrise and sunset. The snorkeling off the beach is beautiful but if the current is strong or the waves big, the rocks at the beachfront make it a bit difficult to get in and out. We all had water shoes though and it was fine! The location of the house was perfect. Just a few minutes to Red Hook, Sapphire Beach, and Lindquist Beach. We did have rental cars which was nice for a large party. We could get in and travel anywhere on the island or take the car ferry without needing a taxi. We wanted to do this vacation to have wonderful family memories together as life often keeps us busy and spread apart. This house sure did allow for fun and sun and togetherness and memories that we get to hold on to for a long time! I hope we can go back someday to make more memories!

Joanne and I have traveled around the world and have always compared St Thomas to wherever we have been. We always said St Thomas was the most beautiful place in the world and in 2006 purchased a home there. We then took four years to create what we would expect a caribbean home to be. The personal touches in the house and landscaping enlightens the senses thru tropical plants and colorful flowers. We hope you share in our creation.

Why they chose this property

Sometimes in the winter you just want to get warm. Florida is very nice but can get cold. St Thomas offers a warm vacation under the American flag and is easily accessible from major airports. The water colors in St Thomas are like no other. The east end of the island is a much more relaxed atmosphere than Charlotte Amalie while still offering easy access to restaurants, shopping, St John and the BVI 's via the passenger or car ferry. Caribbean Castaway is between two of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Lindquist and Sapphire Beach, ( both just a five minute walk from the house), After a two year search we found this unique property and fell in love. Most properties in St Thomas are on a cliff which limits the use of the property to the house and porch. We wanted a flat piece of property which you can truly walk into the water from and have open space for a yard with grass.

What makes this property unique

Caribbean Castaway is one of the finest rental villas in St Thomas. It's a short walk to Sapphire Beach and Lindquist Beach. Best of all you can walk into the water straight from our property and the snorkeling is incredible! A great place to just relax at the pool, swim/snorkel, soak up the sun or escape to your own room with balcony for some quiet R&R. All interior rooms are air conditioned and the entire property is serviced by a 60 KW generator.
The cottage, 20 feet from the water’s edge, is constructed with stone/brick/shell materials inside and out, just as they were 200 years ago , the vaulted cypress ceiling, the stone shower, the kitchenette area all make this a very special. The cottage is included in our rate for a six bedroom rental only. Cottage may be substituted as one of the bedrooms ( Five bedroom minimum) for a additional fee of $500.
