Plan your perfect seaside escape at The Lane House! This peaceful waterfront home is located on the East Side of Lummi Island and offers breathtaking views of Hale passage and Mount Baker. Situated on a beautiful private yard, and just steps from a secluded beach! This is the perfect spot for laying out and relaxing, beach combing, or taking a dip in the warm summer months! There is a portable fire pit for guests to use on the beach- great for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores!
History of The Lane House:
The Lane House stands on the site of the previous home of Frederick Lane. Frederick Lane arrived to Lummi Island in 1880, and was part of the third family to permanently settle on Lummi Island.
Lane wore many hats after he settled on this small island. He cared for a kerosene-burning navigation light on the tip of the spit. He also helped create school district #32 on the island and was the first school superintendent.
From 1887 to 1890 he was postmaster. After the official post office opened in 1892 he delivered mail between the island and Fairhaven in a small sailboat.
Frederick Lane also planted the famous Black Walnut tree that still stands proud today where North Nugent Road meets Blizard Road.
Relax and unwind in this waterfront oasis. This is so rare to be located just steps away from a secluded beach and also have a spacious lawn!
The house has many large windows so you can capture the beauty of this unique little island.
Watch the ferry sail by across Hale Passage while sipping your favorite beverage. Mount Baker looks majestic in the light of the early morning sunrise.
The large open kitchen is well equipped and perfect for cooking meals with family and friends.
The dining area is located just off the kitchen and has a large window that looks out to the ocean.
The open-concept living area boasts high vaulted ceilings and a towering rustic stone fireplace. This home is crafted with gorgeous natural wood and feels so natural and cozy.
Located off the living area is a naturally lit bedroom equipped with a comfortable Queen bed. There is also a sofa that can pull-out and can comfortably sleep one.
Just down the hall is the primary bedroom set with a comfortable King bed and an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
There is also an additional bathroom on the main floor that has a very spacious walk-in top to bottom tiled shower.
There is a large/utility laundry room with a washer and dryer available for guest use.
The stairs off the living area lead to the open loft area. This fun space has a ping pong/pool table and is stocked with plenty of board games!
The loft also has 2 futons for additional sleeping arrangements. This space also has a 1/2 bath for your convenience.
