About this property
Cozy Cabin Steps from RMNP
Welcome Home to Cozy Cabin in Estes Park! Originally built in 1935 as a summer bunk house for farm hands, it is surrounded by original farm buildings now turned to residences: farm house, barn, chicken coop, and tool shed.
Cozy Cabin retains its old world mountain charm with restored original hardwood floors, cedar wall accents, and split log siding. The updated family and couple's retreat has all modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable stay including a new kitchen, bathroom and energy efficient windows, one of which is a picture window allowing perfect views of the sunrise. Open year round, the heating units keep the cabin cozy even on chilly nights. Please plan to access the cabin with All/4 Wheel drive in the snowy months (November - May.)
Get away to this quiet retreat just steps away from Rocky Mountain National Park. Hike into Moraine Park or drive the 1.5 miles to the Visitor Center and South Beaver Meadows Entrance. Or shop the unique stores in quaint downtown Estes Park. In the evenings, relax under the pergola with a heater and 365 degree views of the mountains and watch for the family of deer that meanders through the property most days.
Looking for natural phenomenon travel? Spring brings calving season (elk, deer, bobcats, black bear) in and around RMNP. Summer is high season with all the hiking, trekking, rock climbing, family fun activities, horse back riding, Alpine sliding, driving Trail Ridge Road/Old Fall River Road... SOOO much to do! Autumn (Sept - Oct) is peak season to see the Aspen turn bright yellow as well as hear the Elk bugling. The Winter Holiday Season (November/December) offers one of the most quaint and premier shopping towns lit up with Holiday lights. And winter is perfect to get snowed in or to go sledding, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ice climbing, or our favorite, trekking the snow-packed trails with traction devices.

About the host
Hosted by Ruth
My husband & I love to get away to this mountain retreat and have made many special family memories here with our two daughters, now adults. We never take for granted the amazing views, wild life, and natural experiences surrounding us. Our goal is to make these experiences available for other families and couples as well. We hope that you will enjoy reconnecting with family and nature's peaceful quiet.
Why they chose this property
My Great-Great Grandfather was a homesteader in Estes Park. Our branch of the family moved away from Colorado, but my father remembers spending summers in Estes park in the 1940's. Our Great Aunt Ruth, who lived in Estes Park most of her life, climbed Longs Peak dozens of times; the last time at the age of 68! When we and my parents moved to the area in the 1990's, we went in together to secure this cozy retreat where we could create inter-generational memories. In our completely unbiased opinion, Estes Park is the most beautiful year round vacation spot in the U.S.
What makes this property unique
Because the cabin faces Southeast, I love sitting in front of the picture window and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Likewise, the pergola offers stunning views at sunset with the clouds turning pink and orange all around. And on full moon nights, the heater chases away the chill as the moonlight bathes the surrounding mountains. The full kitchen and propane outdoor grill help to make life easy for us: eating dinner outside under the pergola is always refreshing. Most afternoons, a family of deer meanders through the property on their way down the mountain. A family of Bobcats has a den on Eagle Cliff Mountain above our cabin and sometimes parade their kittens past the cabin. The location is unbeatable for walking/driving into RMNP or getting to downtown Estes Park. Even getting snowed-in is restful, quiet, and cozy with heaps of blankets, books, board games, and streaming movies.
