This 1200 square foot A Frame cabin is perfectly located near Deer Mountain with amazing access to the local ATV/Snowmobile trails and the local Mickelson trail!! It boasts a wood-burning fireplace, private deck with hot tub to a private forest view! You're only 5 minutes to the rim-rock canyon walls and waterfalls of Spearfish Canyon, or 15 minutes from Deadwood with taxi service! You can also be enjoying Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Keystone and more attractions in about an hours drive!

The open layout of the A frame cabin is perfect to enjoy some time with your comrades. The cabin can sleep up to 6 in total - queen bed located in the loft, a queen bed in the main floor bedroom, and a futon in the cabin as well. Whether in the area to enjoy the local trail adventures, or just some rest and relaxation, Bobcat Retreat will fulfill your vacation needs. We welcome you on your next Black Hills trip!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cute A-frame. There was only 2 of us so plenty of room. The property was clean, well stocked with towels and other supplies such as towels, tp, paper towels, etc. Nice deck off the back to enjoy morning coffee or a nightcap. The hot tub was newer, well maintained and so welcome to soak in after a day of riding. Momma deer and her two babies would walk through the back yard. Very easy check-in & checkout. Just wish there would have been WiFi as cell service is spotty.

Quintessential Cabin

This is a perfect little rustic A-frame. Open layout is perfect for a small family to be able to do their own thing while being close together. Proximity to Terry Peak, hot tub, scenery, wood-burning stove, and quiet neighborhood are also major selling points. We LOVE Bobcat Retreat!

Stay was awesome . Hot water goes quickly but we managed . Some notice about no WiFi and service would be nice. I work remotely so was planning on doing work ? But couldn’t . Otherwise everything was great and would stay here again for sure

Family Vacation

Lovely cabin for our family of 5. The view sitting in the hot tub or on the deck was relaxing. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals at home. Everything was in decent driving distance. Spearfish canyon was just a hop away. Overall, very pleased with the place.

Cozy Cute and Relaxing

We had the best stay. The cabin was perfect size and so very charming. We were able to relax and unwind with our girls. The hot tub was amazing. Perfect place. We look forward to staying here again.

Relaxing cabin in the woods

Cabin was just as described. The stairs going up to the loft were a tad small but no biggie. Saw lots of deer at night. Owners were easy to contact and were quick to respond to all of my questions.

Home away from home

Absolutely loved this cabin. It was a great space for our family. Very clean and better then what we expected! Perfect spot in the woods to see some wildlife whipe enjoying the hot tub! We had a 2 and 3 year old with us and they had a blast. We toured all over the black hills and this was a nice place to come home to every night. Very clean and communication with the owners went really smoothly. Higly recommended this space!

Fun getaway

This cabin was functional, cute, and had the essentials of privacy and close to some trails. The loft stairs are definitely steep and I would say not everyone would be able to use them. They were fine for us. Cabin had everything we needed except for a lighter for the fireplace. But we managed. The hot tub was perfect. Not a lot of cell service and no Wi-Fi. We loved our stay.

Comfortable cabin, beautiful location!

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Everything from the layout of the cabin to the view from the back deck made this the perfect place for our group of 5 to enjoy every day. One member of our party was pregnant while we were there, and she was perfectly comfortable the whole time. The hot tub was a relaxing way to end our busy days touring the black hills on our motorcycle trip. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make some fun meals, which we could enjoy together on the big dining room table. We stayed at the end of July, and even though the cabin does not have air conditioning, we were plenty comfortable the whole time because of the location in the hills. I recommend staying here, and we will certainly be back in the future!

Cozy Cabin, dangerous stairs

My family and I (husband and four young kids) stayed at the cabin as part of our yearly road trip. The cabin was so cute and there was even a little Christmas tree they could decorate. The hot tub was awesome and it really was a nice quiet little area. However, the stairs to get up to the loft are dangerously steep. As soon as we saw them, we told the kids they weren't to be going up and down the stairs and only to go up when we were going to bed. I slept upstairs with them and my husband slept in the small bedroom downstairs. I was too nervous to let them sleep up there without and adult. Even still, three of my four kids fell down the stairs, while holding the rail. My youngest who is 4, actually hit her head and the other two got carpet burn. There definitely needs to be a warning about the stairs. There is also a fireplace in the middle of the room that is sitting on bricks. A few of us stubbed our toes on that. We also found that there was hardly no storage for clothes. We had a great time but the stairs definitely put a damper on the stay, unfortunately.

Quick Trip

Overall our stay went well and we enjoyed ourselves at the cabin and had a great time riding the trails in our side by side. Cabin was clean and cozy and served our purpose for what we had planned. Hot tub was terrific after trail riding all day. Only issue we had was at check in. Information was sent to us ahead of time with address and code for key box to get in. When we arrived the code for the key box did not work. Attempted to contact the manager but no answer. Luckily we still had cell service and eventually I took a chance and sent manager an email which she did get and responded right away with the correct code. We did have to sit outside and wait for an hour before this was all taken care of and the rest of our party went on without us for the day since we didn't know when we would be able to get into the cabin. Again not a deal breaker but really...how do you give out the wrong code. The gas grill on the deck worked but wasn't any too clean and was about ready to fall apart. Like I said overall our stay was great aside from the check in. Would recommend this cabin.

Bobcat Retreat

We came here for our honeymoon. We absolutely love cabins, especially A-frames, so we thought it would be the perfect place to spend our honeymoon. This place is probably one of the most disgusting places we have ever stayed. And we have stayed in a couple bad hotels. Wish we would have saved our money and went to a hotel instead. We arrived the first night of our honeymoon and the place had not been touched AT ALL. We contacted Budi and she had no idea what happened. She was nice and cleaned for us, but the place was still kinda nasty after she finished. She reused the same comforter that was dirty from the previous guests and reapplied it to our bed. So that was disgusting. There was dirty laundry everywhere. No beds were made, dirty sink with food in it, the silverware I’m the drawers were not clean, dried food stuck to them, the counters were dirty. There are cob webs everywhere inside the cabin. Don’t plan on moving around much in the shower, it’s pretty small. Lifting your arms up to wash your hair is hard. The temperature gauge on the grill outside does not work, so we burnt our food a few times. The coffee machines had old coffee in them and left over food in the fridge that stunk. We made the best of our honeymoon and really only used the cabin to sleep because of how disgusting it was, we tried to not go back until we absolutely had to. Bed upstairs is very uncomfortable. Bed downstairs is right next to a slanted wall, so if you get claustrophobic like me, it’s not very peaceful to try to sleep. My new husband and I tried to sleep separate on the couch and recliner chair, those were the only comfy things in the cabin. We couldn’t even enjoy our first few nights together as husband and wife in the same bed. Wrappers upstairs on the loft floor beside the bed. The steps to get up to the loft are dangerous, I almost broke my ankle twice. I wear size 8 shoes and my foot doesn’t even completely cover the steps. I had to go down them sideways and they are SO steep. There is bricks around the fireplace that are super inconvenient especially when you’re not wearing shoes. We stubbed our toes multiple times just trying to get to the couch to relax. This place has no WI-FI. Which sucks when you’re visiting there for the first time and have no idea where to even go. Nothing loads so we had to go into town to look up trials and decide where we wanted to eat. I am never one to complain or leave a bad review. But save your money and don’t stay here.

3rd year in a row staying here . Only disappointment this year was very little firewood staged to bring n and all the lighters were out of fluid and hardly any paper to help start. Manager brought us what we needed quickly. Hot tub was a bit dirty which was a first in all out stays. Overall still a peaceful place and we enjoyed as always

Cozy Birthday Get Away

Everything was just as expected. Cozy quiet private cabin just a short drive from Lead and Deadwood. Fireplace worked great! Hot tub was toasty. Cabin had everything we needed to cook breakfast.
