About this property
WINE COUNTRY RIVERFRONT RETREAT WITH SPA & VIEWS
THIS COTTAGE IS A TRUE RETREAT. Our cottage has very reasonable rates for a house on the river with scenic views and a large spa. It is truly a different experience to be on the river. The large deck and dinning room have wonder views of the river and lots of natural light. Built in 1930 and updated over the year, keeping all the charm of a rustic vintage river cottage. There are high ceilings, wood floors, knotty pine in the living room, a stone fireplace with insert, granite counters, large double sink, gas stove, dishwasher, disposal, enclosed sun porch and large deck with wonderful river views. It is an old fashion river cabin that is pet and family friendly. It is not a modern high end home or fancy Healdsburg hotel. Just a fun place to enjoy the views, spa and river. The river flows behind the house just a few steps away. Take the path to the river in the summer time and enjoy our private gazebo set up for our guest to use with sun shade, table and chairs. A perfect place to hang out, relax and swim. A large 4 person hot tub is located under mature redwood trees, very private. The house is near the end of a quiet street with very little traffic. There is a one car garage plus 1 or 2 parking places in the driveway.
We have all the comforts of home, central forced air heating, high speed internet, Netflix's, smart TV in living room, second TV in the back bedroom, Comcast cable TV. There are ceiling fans in the living room and dinning rom and portable fans in the bedrooms but there is no air conditioning.
We set up a Gazebo/Sun Shade (summer only) across the river right on the river bank with table and chairs, provides lot of shade, we also have tubes for a river float, ice chest, beach umbrella and beach chairs for our guest to use (summer only) to take full advantage of all the river has to offer.
The easy beach access makes it a fun place for children to enjoy the river. Take a float or swim down the river, enjoy the scenery, you may even see a few turtles and herons.
Besides the river there are many other activities for guest to enjoy, the Healdsburg Town Square is 3 miles away which offers shopping, fine dinning, theaters, bakeries, live concerts and a farmers market. Dry Creek, Alexander Valley and Russian River wine regions are just a short drive from the property with world class wineries and tasting rooms.
The Villa Chanticleer, a wonderful facility for Weddings is less than a mile away on North Fitch Mt. Road. They also have a big dog park. Badger park has a play area for children.
The house will accommodate up to 4 adults or a couple with 2 children. Works out well with 2 couples as the bedrooms are separate from each other, one in the front and the other in the back of the house, allows for nice privacy. If you are planning a wedding, family gathering or just have a larger group and need more room, the owners can refer you to additional rental properties near by.

Great little cabin! Even more beautiful amongst the redwoods and river than the pictures do justice to. Saw bald eagles, beavers, deer, hawks, etc. Very responsive and communicative host.
The property indeed was a cabin in the redwoods next to the Russian River. The rooms were comfortable and we enjoyed being close to Healdsburg. My only problem with the stay was that the street was extremely dark at night and I found it uncomfortable walking the dogs in the dark.

Happy to hear you felt comfortable staying in our River Cottage. Regarding the dark nights, we are on a country lane away from city lights and noise, that is what we enjoy about the location. For walking the dogs at night we have a porch light, automatic flood lights for the driveway and 3 plug in flash lights at the house for guest to you. They are plugged into several of the rooms, including the living room by the front door. Maybe you did not know what they were for? If you had contacted us we could have directed to their location. Thanks for booking with us.
Wonderfully quiet and comfortable cottage, great location among Redwood trees
Everything was as described, location was excellent for proximity to Healdsberg Square yet very quiet and private. Clean and ammenities as described. Gracious host with excellent communication. I would recommend this location, and i would hope to book again in the future.
This cottage is in a great location with a lovely view of the river. Our stay was relaxing and the neighborhood is quiet and quite close to downtown Healdsburg. We'd stay here again.

Appreciate the great review. Thanks for staying at our place and hope to see you again soon.
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Very nice location, good set up in the cabin, beautiful redwood trees! Easy to access the river and Healdsburg downtown.
We had a fabulous time at this California cottage by the Russian River. Towering redwoods surround it and the house is both charming and functional. Hope to return!
This was such a peaceful place to stay! Enjoyed the river views, proximity to town and wineries. It is only about 3 miles out of town, but feels a world away. It is a cute, rustic little cabin and we loved the atmosphere!

Appreciate you taking the time to write a great review and happy to hear you had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. Thanks again, Edrene
Our girls getaway was so relaxing in the adorable cottage on the river. We relaxed in the hot tub several times a day and star gazed at night. Beautiful place for a girls retreat.
This cute cottage was a perfect balance of proximity to amazing wineries and restaurants and the peaceful views of the Russian River. The strong heater was really appreciated as we stayed in December when it was cold. No complaints, and will definitely stay again.

Well appointed cottage in nice location
The cottage is well appointed and full of charm. Very comfortable space inside with a lovely wrap around deck off the back of the house, overlooking the river. Great place to relax and only 10 minutes into downtown Healdsburg.
A spotless cozy cabin under redwoods overlooking the rushing Russian River. We would give it 5 stars, but the mattresses were so soft, we both woke up with backaches.

Happy you enjoyed most this about the cottage. I understand you may have had an issue with the mattress as you stated you have a bad back and may require a very firm mattress for your condition. Mattress firmness is very subjective. In our guest book we have comments saying the beds are very comfy, next page mattresses are too hard, next page too soft. Mattress firmness is very much a personal taste, verified by the sleep number bed having 10 different settings. We picked mattresses that are medium firmness trying to please the largest number of guest.
The house is very clean and comfortable and located just where we wanted. The beach trail is not super easy to navigate for older folks but we got used to it over time. Neighbors were very friendly.

About the host
Hosted by Edrene Case
My sister's and I were born in Healdsburg and learned to swim in the Russian River. Even after we moved away we made many trips to this area with our friends and family to enjoy the river. We rented vacations homes along the Russian River from Guerneville to Healdsburg and this is our favorite spot. Our kids have fond memories of spending warm summer days on the beach behind this house looking for frogs, swimming, canoeing and rafting down the river. They named the beach 'Froggy Beach'. We always dreamed of owning our own place and now have this really fun rustic cottage on the river to enjoy and rent out to others. Our favorite activities are wine tasting, swimming, tubing, kayaking and canoeing down the river.
Why they chose this property
This property is located on a great spot on the Russian River. There is a nice beach just a few steps away. The street is quiet with no through traffic. There are many large redwood trees that line the river and keep it cool in the summer. We have a large private spa and in the summer a gazebo set up across the river for you to use. Visit world class wineries just a few miles away in Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys or visit the many different tasting room right in town. Enjoy all the other activities Healdsburg has to offer, fine dinning, cool shops, popular brewery, free summer concerts in the square and weekly Farmer's Market. So much to do, be sure to stay at least 3 nights.
What makes this property unique
The views of the river and countryside from the back deck are fantastic. You can enjoy the large hot tub located in a secluded area under a grove of mature Redwood trees. The house has the charm of a vintage 1920's cabin but with all the comforts of home. Fine dinning and great wine tasting are located just a short drive away. Canoe and Kayak trips are available in town or go for a float off the beach behind the house. During the summer months we have inner tubes, a double kayak, noodles, ice chest, lounges, chairs and a beach umbrella you can take to the beach.
