Get away from it all and come explore! This 3BR cabin has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Located on an ATV-friendly country road and just 20 min from the New River Gorge National Park. Bring your ATV and ride from the house to many popular off-road trails. The cabin sits on 10 acres with a babbling creek and woods to explore nature. Unplug with limited cell service and no wifi- go hiking, rafting, fishing during the day, and hang out on the porch at night. 15 min from Fayetteville, 25 min to Sommersville Lake.
A true WV rustic mountain cabin getaway!

This cabin is nestled in a remote / secluded WV "holler" (small valley between mountains), where a creek flows and is surrounded by nature. The cabin is perched on a hill that overlooks the babbling creek in the front, and has acres of mature wooded forests to explore in the back.

As you enter the cabin, you immediately get a comfortable, homey feel. The interior was hand crafted with all rough cut lumber, the stone fireplace was built with stones from the property and the large living spaces make for a comfortable family night. The two story living room is open to the Dining and Kitchen. There is a main level bedroom and bath with claw foot tub, and 2 bedrooms upstairs with a shared jack and jill bath, with shower. The wrap around front porch will be your favorite place to relax after a busy day. Kitchen is stocked with Keurig coffee pot and essentials.

With no wifi, this is the place to UNPLUG and relax. Go hiking, white water rafting, biking, fishing, 4 - wheeling , and hang out on the porch swing, read a book , build a fire in the fire-pit, soak in the claw foot tub, and count the stars at night. Let the kids play in the creek, explore the woods, and get back to the basics!

Located in Fayette County, WV, amenities and activities are within a short distance.

NOTE: Rich Creek Rd is a one lane, windy - curvy, gravel (your car will get dirty) road that goes up and down the mountain. 4 Wheel drive is a must in Winter. If pulling a trailer, message us so we can tell you the best way in. This is an old coal miners town.. you will see abandoned houses.
There are lots of pamphlets, maps and info in the cabin.

Awesome mountain getaway!

A few of my friends and I stayed at this cabin to celebrate a birthday and enjoy a bit of the New River Gorge. It was everything we needed and more! The location was convenient to the activities we had planned while giving us the true off the grid mountain experience. The hosts told us everything we needed to know about access/amenities/etc. and there was even a cute book outlining the history of the cabin. A great find and one we would consider renting again in a heartbeat!

New River Gorge Vacation

We spent a week at the cabin. It was exactly what I was looking for. Just outside of town, quite, and just enough cell service available to have if needed. Check in was easy, outdoor seating was peaceful, and inside had plenty of board games and movies to keep the kids happy at night. Night brought plenty of lightning bugs to watch.

NRG Family Vacation July 2025

The Cabin at Rich Creek is a fantastic home base for adventures in the New River Gorge. The Cabin is clean, spacious and has everything you need for a home away from home. The setting is beautiful and the porches are great spots for relaxing. The location is perfect for getting to New River Gorge National Park, Hawk's Next State Park and Mill Creek Falls in Ansted. Krista was available, but we didn't really need anything. The kids enjoyed the movies and games, and we appreciated the WV informational guides! Would definitely come stay again when we come back to the Gorge!

Perfect Family Getaway

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and loved this cabin. It had everything we needed and had movies and toys for the little ones to play with. We loved sitting on the wrap around porch to have our drinks. The last night there we had a black bear visit in the side yard. He didn't bother us and left after a few minutes. So cool to see. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to rent this cabin!!

White water rafting weekend

The cabin was the perfect get away for the 7 of us that came to white water raft! We cooked out over the fire, and played plenty of cornhole haha. Would definitely come back to stay here again!

Short getaway

Enjoyed the property and home. Clean and cozy. Only suggestion is to advise visitors to take screen shots of GPS directions as you travel to and from house as you will lose and house is hard to find without.

Disconnect Dream

We just loved it here. We cooked on the fire, watched it rain from the comfort of the porch, and explored the woods. We didn’t miss technology at all and I actually wish I was still in that environment. Great choice for a disconnect with plenty to do nearby. Highly recommend

Unplug and Decompress

The cabin and property were fantastic. Just as the title suggests, we were able to unplug from the world and decompress for a few days. The cabin is well situated as a base camp to enjoy all of the outdoor adventures the area has to offer during the day, and relax to the sounds of nature at night.

The property was amazing. Getting of the grid was exactly what we needed. We had 7 adults and were very comfortable. It's secluded, but still close enough to Adventures on the Gorge, Fayetteville, and other attractions. The hosts were very accommodating.

Long weekend at New River Gorge National Park

The Cabin that Tom built was a wonderful place to stay! The home itself is charming and peaceful and just what we were looking for as we explored New River Gorge National Park. The location is remote and being able to disconnect from wifi was refreshing as we sat by the fire and enjoyed the quite all around. If you're looking for a beautiful cabin experience, wanting to disconnect, and enjoy solitude then this is your place! Thanks, we will be back!

A True Getaway Cabin

If you’re looking for an off-the-grid cabin, but within 20-30 minutes of town, this spot is for you! The cabin is well stocked with the basic kitchen necessities. The cabin was super cozy with plenty of room for our family to stay, plus some! There are two porches to enjoy your morning coffee, plus the outdoor fire-pit where we cooked all our meals on the built-in grate. We couldn't have been happier during our stay- will definitely be back!

Craftsman's paradise

Our family had a short but great stay at Krista's house. The work that went into building the home and it's cleanliness are unbelievable. The fire pit was our favorite place to hangout. We showed up and the kids were surprised with the gift of the fixings of smores. Everything was in place at the fire pit to get a fire started with ease. Thanks for sharing your amazing home.
