Welcome to SHELTER by Retreat Vacation Rentals, a stylish newly renovated 6 bedroom full duplex (3 bedrooms, full kitchen, 1.5 baths PER side). Apart from amazing ocean views and homey touches, we offer a cedar barrel sauna, 2 fireplaces & large deck with 2 fire tables. The home has ALL your group needs for a rejuvenating stay. We are located across from the ocean & a short walk/drive to sandy Stories Beach! Enjoy watching the orcas from the deck in the summer or surfers during winter storms!

You will have the entire property for your group, including front decks, rear deck, backyard, and exclusive use of the sauna.

Typically not available in person but we have staff who can attend the property if your require anything.

Location! Location!

The home is conveniently located directly across from the water and the old boat launch for those who enjoy kayaking, sup boarding or simply going for a walk on the pebbled beach. On very low tide you can walk out to the coral reef! For those who enjoy surfing, the best surf spot in town is located directly in front of the home. Join in on the fun and enjoy a hot sauna session directly after or watch the surfers catching waves from the front windows or deck.

All guests will be provided with a digital guidebook with further information on local tourist spots, recommendations, restaurants and more! Look out for the guidebook that is provided digitally directly after booking so that you can start planning out your visit.

We are located directly off S Island Hwy on a private laneway. The home has your own parking directly in each unit.

NOTE: A $600 security deposit will be taken during your stay as a hold on the credit card on file. It is released 5 business days after your check-out assuming no incidentals need to be charged to the security deposit. A Cancellation fee is charged for any cancellations. For anymore details, please see the rental agreement, a copy will also be sent to you via a link following your booking. You can also request a copy of the agreement before hand if you are unable to access it on the platform. For long term stays (greater than 21 days) a security deposit of $1500 is held on the card on file.

NOTE: There are external cameras on the property for security purposes. Each home has a ring door bell camera as well as a roof camera that shows only parking lot and larger backyard area. It is triggered by motion and sends short clips. Cameras are only on the exterior.

NOTE: This property uses noise aware - Noise aware is a privacy safe, smart home device, that measures noise levels during what is considered quiet times. This is NOT a recording device nor does it have the capacity to transmit audio- it works solely based on measuring "decibels". The main purpose is to prevent parties.

Beautiful Place
Beautiful place for a family get-together. Wonderful, large backyard oasis, complete with a sauna. Felt very private and secluded. Only minor thing is the road noise from the highway. Busier than I thought it would be. Once inside you can hardly hear anything from the road. Wonderful experience.

Wonderful
Although highway 19A runs right in front (between the house and ocean) we found the location beautiful and relaxing. Room for the whole family to enjoy the morning sunshine on the oversized deck.

Welcome! Lina and Dan are a husband-wife duo bringing experience in customer service, construction, building engineering/design, short/long-term rental property management, renovations and interior design.

Dan is an engineer who has a keen passion for extraordinary homes and has experience abroad building strawbale, rammed earth, and earthship homes.

Lina is currently completing an Interior Design diploma with the Interior Design Institute. Prior to starting their vacation rental company, Retreat Vacation Rentals (retreatvr.ca), Lina completed a Masters degree in Social Work and has experience in customer service, which helps her to engage and understand client's needs.

Together, Daniel and Lina have completed 5 personal renovation projects ranging from cosmetic to full gut renovations as well as collectively managed properties with long- term leases. With this experience, Lina has developed a keen eye for interior home design and staging. Lina's most recently owned & staged home received 10 offers in just 24 hours.

Together they enjoy collecting experiences on the road and sharing their love of travel. This provides them with an understanding of what travelers are looking for when exploring new places and how to successfully host.

When they are not not managing properties they can be found exploring the west coast with their two daughters & yellow lab.

Why they chose this property

This home was a labor of love. We purchased this home for its amazing views (some of the best in town), oceanfront perks, the expansive yard (nearly 1 acre), and proximity to town and the ski hill. We poured our heart and souls into this home for nearly a year to ensure that it provided us and our guests with some of their most memorable and unique experiences. Once completed, this home truly fit the bill as our dream oceanfront property.

What makes this property unique

We typically enjoy waking up to some breathtaking sunrises in the morning, with glorious views of the ocean and mountains. In the summer we enjoy the views right from the deck, and in the winter, we typically will sit around the warm firetable with some hot drinks in hand. We frequently spot wildlife; orcas, dolphins, eagles, are the most common. In the summer we also like to watch the massive cruise ships as they float by, they look like floating cities! In the winter, you can watch the surfers right from the window next to the fireplace, always fun, especially during big winter storms. The expansive windows also provide views of the ocean from nearly anywhere in the home.

A quick dip in the ocean followed up by some time in the cedar barrel sauna is always fun, especially when its really chilly/rainy outside or after a long day at the ski hill. The home is only 30 minutes away from Mount Washington.

The backyard feels like a wildlife sanctuary, especially in the summer. Flocks of birds everywhere, and some deer that frequently visit the property (we believe they like to sleep at the very back where we let the trees and bushes overgrow for them).

At night, we enjoy making a beachfire right infront of the home and catching views of the stars and, sometimes, incredible views of the moon over the ocean.

This home is truly our oceanfront paradise on the island.
