Welcome to Bobcat Retreat!

Bobcat Retreat is a quaint log cabin in the private Buck Mountain Gated Community, just 20 minutes from Kerr Scott Lake and 30 minutes outside Boone. Buck Mountain Community offers wonderful amenities to guests, including a community fishing pond stocked with largemouth bass, multiple species of sunfish, and channel catfish. There are ample hiking opportunities to beautiful waterfalls and picnic areas, a putting green, and summer weekend concerts at the clubhouse. Guests are welcome to hike the ATV trails. However, remember that guests are not allowed to bring ATVs to the community as that is a member-only benefit.

This charming cabin is graced with a wall of windows on the main level letting natural light permeate the living room and upstairs loft bedroom. Guests will find the stone wood-burning fireplace or outdoor wood-burning fire pit a wonderful place to gather. The wrap-around deck includes covered and uncovered areas to enjoy the wooded and seasonal mountain views and lovely sunsets while relaxing or grilling on the deluxe gas grill.

A queen bedroom on the main level has in-room access to the deck. The loft bedroom boasts a king bed situated under skylights, with a private loft bathroom and balcony overlooking the view. Downstairs is a spacious room with a twin-over-double bunk bed and a twin trundle underneath. The space includes a twin pull-out sofa, TV, and table with access to the lower patio under the deck, where the hot tub looks out at the sunset.

Bobcat Retreat has central heating and air conditioning for year-round comfort. There is FUBO available on the TVs for live sports and TV viewing. Additional amenities include wifi and a washer and dryer. Bobcat Retreat owners generously provide a stock of firewood for guest use, although this is not guaranteed as, at times, the stock may be depleted. If that is the case, there is a firewood stand just down the road where you can purchase firewood. Pets are not allowed. One camera captures the driveway area, which is a level gravel circular driveway with plenty of space for three cars. Winter travelers should prepare for snow and ice with AWD/4WD vehicles.

Beautiful area and home but needs attention

This home is beautiful, and the pictures used are those from sale listing of the home with additional ones after the fact. I did have to contact Carolina Rentals because of lack of cleanliness that made me feel less than comfortable and my first day was spent putting away dishes from previous guests, washing all the towels and linens after stains were discovered in the bed, and cleaning coffee makers that had coffee left in them. After feeling that cleanliness was an issue we opted to not use the hot tub. The items in the home are very outdated. The only comfortable bed was in the basement which is a bunkbed. The couch in the living room has no give left in it. So forget sitting to watch a movie and feel comfortable standing back up. I have stayed in several cabins in my life and for the cost and length of stay I really thought this one would have offered more.

Great stay!

Came into town for North Wilkesboro NASCAR race. Great place! Wish we could have enjoyed the house and amenities more. Slept like a baby! If we’re back in town for future races we will definitely rebook.

Beautiful spacious home

This is a beautiful, spacious home with lots of privacy in a nice, quiet community. The road is paved & the driveway is well-packed gravel. Both are curvy with some steep parts but are well maintained. The home has plenty of room to spread out, comfortable furnishings including very comfortable beds and lots of windows looking at mountains & trees. The kitchen is small but well stocked including many extras like spices, a Ninja blender etc that you don’t always find at a VRBO. The huge wraparound deck has stunning views and the hot tub was clean & wonderful at night as we gazed at all the bright stars. We built a fire in the fireplace every night (early Spring and chilly temps) with the generously supplied firewood. The home is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, lots of hiking & the fun town of Boone. We also enjoyed Blowing Rock & West Jefferson & numerous look outs and hiking trails off the Parkway. Communication with the leasing company was excellent. We will definitely stay there again when we return to the area!
