This is it! Located on the exclusive East End, 'The Hideaway' transports you back to the Caribbean experience of your dreams. Without a neighbor in sight, you will enjoy the serenity and tranquility of song birds and sea breezes as you float in the private pool suspended above the lush and fragrant vegetation. A private path leads you past ancient Tamarind trees to your own beach in paradise. Gear is provided to allow you to snorkel the Hansen Bay reef and Pelican Rock right off your beach. There are kayaks on the shore to allow you to explore even further. The drive is a short distance to the famous National Park beaches that abound on island. Hike trails of the Park or walk the country lanes outside your door past abundant flowering trees and palms. This brand new villa is the fantasy of the Architect /Interior Designer owners and comes complete with everything you need to enjoy the island.
All three bedrooms have their own bathrooms and state of the art whisper quiet air conditioning as well as ceiling fans.The great room has four ceiling fans as does the shaded outdoor loggia/living area. Indoor and outdoor dining on multiple levels, outdoor wet bar and outdoor shower adds to the well planned layout. The villa includes internet access with a TV/VCR with an extensive collection of movies, CD/IPOD player and gourmet kitchen that is fully equipted for the most discerning chef. There is also an armoire bursting with games of all sorts and a well curated library to borrow from.


Snorkling and Scuba: The Hideaway's private path leads to a private beach maintained by the Privateer Bay Homeowners Association. Snorkeling consists of a reef along the shore to the SE and the area surrounding Pelican Rock. A short walk or kayak away is Haulover Bay with additional awesome snorkeling on the Francis Drake Channel side. Privateer Bay Beach Association also maintains a beach, over the hill behind the Hideaway on Francis Drake Channel side. Crystal clear waters abound! Snorkeling gear is available at the villa and additional equipment can be rented at Crabby's in Coral Bay. Diving is available in Coral Bay or at Low Key in Cruz Bay. The wreck of the Rhone, the Indians and the caves of Norman Island are a short distance away by boat.

Beaches: Along with the private beach maintained by PBHA at the end of the path from the Hideaway, the kayaks provide access to a myriad of beaches within Coral Bay. Beyond your beach, the closest beaches are Vie’s , Salt Pond, Francis Bay and Maho beach. The North Shore beaches are a short drive away as well…

Dining: On the East End, you have Vie’s Snack Shop and beach 3 minutes away and the renowned Skinny Legs is 8 minutes away. In Coral Bay you will find several choices for dining along with groceries in a well stocked Dolphin Market at Cocolobo complex. Love City Market is also close for bottled water and smaller grocery needs. For additional shopping, you can go into Cruz Bay (20 minute drive 8 miles away) for shopping at Starfish, Dolphin or St. John market for food and beverage provisions, and Mongoose for interesting items. There is a list in the villa with restaurants noted. You might find, after visiting Cruz Bay and stocking up, there is no reason to leave the tranquility of the East End and the Hideaway.

The Hideaway was absolutely perfect for our family! We had such a great time floating in the pool and looking out over the bay. It was an amazing vacation, and we can't wait to go back!This villa is on the east end of St. John. It's a bit of a hike to get to that part of the island (Jeeps are a must!), but so worth it! We were so glad to be able to slip away from the bustle of Cruz Bay and head over to the tranquility of the east end. If you enjoy gorgeous views and experiencing nature up close, this is the home for you!

Perfect Saint John Experience

I cannot say enough about how much we loved our time at the Hideaway. The villa is beautiful and comfortable inside and out. We wanted for nothing-from cooking to outdoor activities, the Hideaway had everything we needed for the week. We were blown away by the fantastic snorkeling right off the beach in front of the villa. We absolutely loved being in the East End. A perfect vacation for our family of two adults and two teenage boys.

58th Birthday Retreat in paradise!

We were so lucky to have found this gem, off the beaten path, on the beautiful East End with friendly neighbors and amazing snorkeling basically right out of the back door! We cooked every night - fully stocked kitchen which was great! Christine was very helpful and we hope to come again!

Christine's place is so quiet and peaceful. We loved to location. Worth the drive to be in such a beautiful private spot. Everyone says to snorkeling right off the beach is great...and it is! We went to Trunk and Watermelon Cay and nothing was better than what we had right at the house! Everything about the house was great. Well stocked, the air conditioning worked great, and even in this remote spot the WiFi was great too. Christine help us get Landlubber to deliver or groceries and stock the fridge which was worth every penny of the times saved. Especially during 4th of July carnival week! I really hope we can return here sometime sooner than later. Thanks!!!

The Hideaway exceeded our expectations! The luxurious house, nestled on a hill at the East End of St. John, was gorgeous and comfortable. We sat in the outdoor living space for hours enjoying the views. We couldn’t get enough of the private beach with fantastic snorkeling just feet away. The pool was a wonderful way to cool off. The home was well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, beach towels, snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and paddle boards. A private paradise

The Hideway was wonderful! Our family of two adults and two teens were in love with its gorgeous landscape, plenty of toys like snorkels, kayaks and SUPs, and a panoramic view of Hansen Bay. Once you have been to the grocery store, there is no reason to leave with a beach steps away, a reef for snorkeling and plenty of water to explore. The house tends to every comfort and Christine makes sure that you have all you need to start a relaxing vacation. Amazing last minute retreat

The villa was beautiful, more beautiful than the photos show. We enjoyed the kayaks and SUPs, snorkeling gear, and of course, just having access to the private beach. Rocky, but nonetheless, private. Just be careful.... as there are lots of sea urchin in the sea. The rooms were very well appointed, including the kitchen and living room. Just watching the sunset by the pool was most relaxing. I would go back in a heartbeat!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Serene getaway

The Hideaway is a perfect spot for a restorative getaway. The house is well maintained, designed and furnished. With the beautiful pool, kitchen and beach access, there is no need to leave, but you will want to explore the island. The property is far from Cruz Bay -- a plus for us, but others may not agree. There are enough restaurants and small grocery stores in Coral Bay that we only trekked to Cruz Bay once. We took day trips and went out for late lunches before returning to the pool. The kitchen had every utensil and gadget we needed to prepare simple dinners and snacks. Christine was a responsive host. The house has reliable wifi, nice bathrooms and all the toys you might want for a fun vacation. We plan to return!

Private Hideaway

If you’re looking to unplug in a quiet, secluded, beautiful home THIS is the spot! As a previous reviewer mentioned, it is a bit of a drive to get to, but worth it. The homes layout worked perfectly for our family, the lanai was wonderful (bring lots of bug spray) with ample shade & seating & a plunge pool to cool off. But THE VIEW! Wow! Totally private & serene. Private beach was an extra cherry on top. My ONLY complaint is the main area of the house- LR/kitchen are not air conditioned. In early July it was quite hot & humid and would’ve love the A/C. All bedrooms have a/c, so that was welcome relief. Home is equipped with everything you will need to cook, play and relax!

Wonderful Stay

Beautiful property on the less-populated East End. Spacious home with perfect views. We enjoyed the secluded rocky beach with kayaks and paddle boards, and the covered outdoor area with plunge pool. We explored several local beaches (Hansen Bay, Trunk Bay and Hawksnest) to snorkel and hike. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to cook every meal. We ate one night at Skinny Legs in Coral Bay (great burgers!) We also traveled by ferry one day to St. Thomas to zip-line at Tree Limin Extreme (thrilling and awesome views- recommended!) and dine/shop. If you are inexperienced with driving on the island, we suggest arriving when there is still enough daylight to drive to the East End from Cruz bay - at least 45 minutes. We enjoyed the seeing all the wildlife- beautiful birds, geckos and lizards. We encountered the local donkeys several times, including the final morning of our stay waking up to find them munching grass in the back yard! Great vacation- would definitely return!

Perfect Villa for Our Family Vacation

Our first impression of The Hideaway was "this place is a home run!" It looked really nice in the photos but was even more beautiful than we expected. As we looked closer we began to notice how absolutely clean this home was. We have stayed in dozens of VRBO homes, and The Hideaway was without question CLEANEST HOME WE HAVE EVER RENTED. We used the guest suite as the master and the teenagers settled in the main part of the house. The pool and deck area between the two living areas was the show stopper. The kitchen was very well equipped and made our eat-in meal prep easy. There was a short path to a private beach (only saw 3-4 people all week around 300 yards away) area where we spent most of our days. The use of the beach chairs, kayaks and snorkel gear was very much appreciated. We snorkeled all over St. John and parts of the BVI, and one of the best areas was along the left side of the private beach. We have stayed on St. John twice and really enjoy the solitude and slower pace the East End offers. While the home is away from the crowds, it only takes about 10 minutes to get to Coral Bay for groceries, dining, etc. We also appreciated how beautifully the property had been landscaped. The owners and the local caretakers were very responsive and receptive to our needs.

Gorgeous home on a dreamy lot overlooking the water. The decor, the layout and the landscaping are beautiful. Well stocked and very comfortable. It’s a steep, winding drive to get there with many blind curves, but once you are arrive, it’s nothing but peace and beauty.

Great stay. Enjoyed the property and the remote location on the East End, while still having relatively easy access to the rest of the island. The view as you walk into the outdoor area is breathtaking! The private beach is outstanding & very private! Rocky entry is tricky but the snorkeling is outstanding! Kayaking to nearby Hansen Beach, Haulover & beyond is a workout but great way to get around & snorkel close by. House is amazingly landscaped & comfortable inside. Well stocked kitchen & quality mattress! Way too big for 2 but would be perfect for large families…..Outdoor area is A+……shaded seating area, wet bar/fridge, big enough pool with a view. Bird feeders for hummingbirds, frequent goat & deer sightings, lovely trail from the house to the beach…..you could enjoy a week just at the house, so plan 2 weeks so you can break away & explore the island! 4th trip one of our best! East End is perfect!

Fantastic!!!

We were a party of 5 people and had a great time for our week stay!!! House itself: is beautiful! And had a great/functional layout for us. It was very clean. The kitchen was nice and fully stocked which made cooking easy with so many people and various dietary restrictions. The sitting area by the pool was the favorite hang out and was a great common area. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms worked well. We didn’t use the tv at all but did enjoy some of the books and games available. Yard and area: was also beautiful and functional for us. The beach was a short walk and ended up having some good snorkeling including seeing turtles. Walks on the beach and seashell hunting was a daily occurrence as was a night time walk around the house and yard to see what little lizards and frogs we could see. We also found a couple scorpions which we didn’t realize where native to the area. The neighborhood is quiet and near other good snorkeling/beaches as well. Short drive into coral bay for restaurants and shops. Communication: was great and they were very responsive to questions and helpful all around. Check in and out was super easy. All in all we really loved the house and our stay!

What makes this property unique

The Hideaway came through Irma and Maria...bruised but strong!
We have Power and a new stove and windows and shutters are to be made new by April. Until then, all it working and the screening over some openings lets wonderful sea breezes in and keeps mosquitos out! Internet is on it's way and TV have an extensive library of movies to entertain in the evenings.
