About this property
Verde River Hilltop Gem - Tranquil, artistic and close to everything
This is a large (14'x16') master bedroom set up for a quiet getaway...You'll park on a private driveway with private entrance and greenery all around. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood with views of red rocks of Sedona and valley as well as looking up to Mingus Mountain and Jerome. Short distance (10 min) to Old Town Cottonwood businesses and events and 25-30 minutes to both Jerome and Sedona, with easy access to I-17 freeway or Hwy 89A. Close to supermarkets & businesses but feels tucked away and has pretty trees, shrubs and flowers planted all around and is just a short walk to the Verde River with trails down the street. Owner is an artist with long history of living here and knowledge of area so she can give you tips and info will be in your room as well! All the furnishings and amenities were picked with love for things to be used and enjoyed not only for their utility but their aesthetic and colorful qualities as well. Doves, quail, cardinals, finches and other birds visit the backyard. Dead Horse State Park is my favorite walk (10 min. drive) around the three lagoons and even more birds like herons, ducks and even bald eagles can be spotted there! Hope you come and enjoy your stay in the beautiful Verde Valley!

Cozy property, close to stores and restaurants. Most of all not far from hiking and biking trails. Several trails for hiking and biking at Deadhorse Ranch State Park.
The property manager was very sweet:) when we checked in we saw that she had taken time to hand-write us 2 pages of recommendations in the area. The room itself was very comfortable!
I spent a week hiking Red Rocks, and enjoyed my hillstop stay. The shower is lovely, and there was lots of space for my stuff--I'm on a two month road trip so the extra closet space came in handy. Wifi is fast, and host is responsive, and there was a little outdoor seating area (sadly, the weather didn't permit me to use it much)
We stayed here for 3nights and we loved it,! It was so cozy and clean. It was just outside Cottonwood and very quiet. It has everything that we needed. Plenty of information about things available and things to do in the area. If we are out that way again we would definitely stay there again. We would highly recommend it! Thank you!

The place was very clean and well-maintained. We were impressed by the attention to detail and the warm atmosphere that the host had created. The layout of the apartment was good and the location was perfect for our needs. The area was quiet allowing us to relax and unwind after the long day of hiking. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Restaurants and groceries were also conveniently close.
Communication with the host was seamless. She was responsive and accommodating, ensuring that our needs were met promptly. We would definitely go back.

We spent over a week in hotel rooms and we were ready for stillness and time together. (You feel closer when you don’t have to smile at strangers in line at the hotel breakfast buffet). It was nice to be steps away from your door with luggage. With a little creativity, you have everything you need to make meals after a trip to the grocery store. We enjoyed stashing our ice cream in the little freezer!
Our reasonably priced room was like being at a relative’s house where you had your privacy while your stay was thoughtfully made comfortable and enjoyable. The walk-in shower was amazing to wash off the miles of hiking!
Neighborhood was friendly and we enjoyed our walk along the beautiful Verde River. The view from the driveway was breathtaking each time and your piece of the river was prettier than the water we saw in Dead Horse Ranch State Park.

During my second visit to Sedona, I am glad to choose my home base in Cottonwood/Verde Valley area, where the studio is located. Quite to my surprise, the studio is very much like European local owned hotels -uniquely designed and vividly artistic. The host Pam has gone above and beyond attentively with each detail. The stupid is cozy, clean and feels like home without strangers. There are good collection of supplies in bathroom and kitchen as you could choose to cook after getting tired of dining out. Pam provides good amount of instruction to navigate indoors as well as outdoors. As an avid hiker, I found it super helpful to get Sedona hiking recommendation/city shuttle transportation to the trails. Additionally I enjoy the recommended good food and exploring in Cottonwood old town, which is so undervalued compared to Sedona, but quite a hidden gem worthy of a precious vacation. I absolutely and whole heartedly recommend staying here. You will not regret!
This was a lovely, well-sized room with all the amenities that we needed and more.
The location was perfect with Sedona 25 minutes to the east, Clarkdale 5 minutes, Jerome 15 minutes, Camp verde 20 minutes. Her house sits at the top of a hill with a gorgeous view of the sunrise and sunset with the red rocks in the distance. Priceless!
For all the amenities, size of the room, and location, the price was completely reasonable and better than anything else I saw in VRBO.
My 13 year old and I stayed here together. The bed was a queen and super comfortable. Plenty of blankets and pillows. The kitchenette had everything we needed and more. It was very quiet and we never been heard the host during our stay. The driveway allowed us to pull right up to our door and we had a private entrance.
Pamela replied immediately to all of my emails before we came and also to those during our stay. She had tons of pamphlets for attractions and personal notes left with suggestions of things to see and do nearby.
I feel very fortunate to have gotten to stay here and am already planning to come back with my husband. I highly recommend and look forward to staying here again soon.
I went there to get away from the metro Phoenix congestion and fast paced lifestyle to explore the surrounding areas of Cottonwood. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Pam is a wonderful hostess and the suite was perfect because it had everything I needed in one cozy room. The location is close enough to everything but far enough to feel the privacy I desired.
The short walk to a less traveled walking path along the Verde river is going to make us come back again and again. What a gorgeous hidden away spot. Breathtakingly beautiful. I also enjoyed the patio space. We never met the owner but she was very polite in our messages and has many amenities if you want to cook (we didn't) and good books around to read. Bed was comfortable.
I have lived here for over 45 years, coming right out of college with my art degree in Illustration from Cal State Long Beach, growing up in Santa Monica and Rolling Hills area of California. I have lived in Jerome, Clarkdale and now Cottonwood and am pretty well-versed on the Verde Valley! I have done many posters, calendars, greeting cards, paintings and prints, etc. over the years and am still doing my art. My kids grew up here and my son is a firefighter in Sedona and is very active with the bike community as is my grandson. My daughter is married and now lives in Phoenix and works for Grand Canyon University. So many things to do here for visitors and my place is centrally located to make your plans for fun here or to head over to Sedona or Flagstaff or up and over the mountain to Jerome or Prescott. And it's easy to make your trip back down to Phoenix if needed as my location is just off of Hwy 260 which is just a 15-20 minute drive to access I-17 freeway to go south to Phoenix or north to Flagstaff.
Why they chose this property
When I moved from Clarkdale, it was just my daughter and I and this house had such a nice location and feel - perched on a hill looking off towards Sedona or looking up to Mingus Mountain and Jerome with easy access and walks by the Verde River just down the hill in our neighborhood. I've planted trees, shrubs and flowers and it's become quite a nice environment to just relax here. Nice neighborhood, wonderful neighbors, quiet and pretty all around. Easy and affordable to enjoy your stay here in Cottonwood without the higher prices of the bigger tourist areas of Jerome and Sedona while having access to either within a quick and scenic drive. Or just drive to Old Town Cottonwood and enjoy all the cute shops and good restaurants and wine-tasting rooms just minutes away! Or take a hike by the river nearby or on out to Dead Horse State Park by the lagoons - so many areas to just get out and enjoy nature here.
What makes this property unique
Visitors will have their own private driveway at side of the house and entry is also private from a small patio area with flowers and chair into your large master bedroom with adjoining private bathroom. My favorite thing is the large walk-in shower and the spacious bedroom that allows for a small cooking and kitchen area with table as well as recent upgrade to a new queen mattress which I've already gotten compliments on for a good night's sleep! You have TV, WiFi and a small rolltop desk you're welcome to use and put things in the drawers or another small dresser provided. I hope you like the artistic touches I've tried to bring together for the furniture, framed work on walls down to the pretty plates, mugs and linens provided. There is plenty of room in the large closet with two sliding mirrored-doors with a detailed map of the USA on one so you can see where you've been and where you might want to head next! I have a journal you can make notes in or suggestions to me or just about your daily outings, those are fun for me to read later too! I've provided many brochures about shuttles, restaurants and things to do here so you can get an idea of all your many choices for exploring the area for a memorable trip.
