About this property

Ocean views from every room!!

Very private coastal home nestled at treetop level yet with dramatic ocean views from every room. House was built and finished October 2010. Light filled house with sky lights, soaring ceilings, floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, Headland Mountains, crashing waves and San Francisco beyond. Huge wrap around deck, private deck off master bedroom with Adirondacks and lounge chair for sunning, relaxing, watching the waves or nighttime stargazing. Hawks and falcons fly overhead as whales and dolphins pass by at various times of the year.

After a day of hiking the endless coastal and mountain trails, watch the moon rise from your living room window seats, enjoy a BBQ on your deck, take a deep bathtub soak to relax, and finally get lulled to sleep at night by the sounds of the crashing Pacific waves and the far off fog horn which escorts boats through the Golden Gate Bridge!

If you are lucky enough to book this property, you will never want to leave. The setting is unparalleled, the ocean views magnificent and the extra touches by the host can’t be beat. She thinks of everything to make your stay comfortable and even healing!

The home is lovely. We had a restful peaceful experience. The home is n wonderfully decorated. And had everything we needed. The corner nook was amazing. The wrap around deck was breath taking.

This is an absolutely wonderful property! Clean throughout, and very well-equipped -- especially the kitchen. One of the most spectacular views of the ocean imaginable, with nearby places to hike through redwoods, stroll along the beach, and taste some fantastic wine. The host was great at communicating everything we needed to know in advance, including some helpful tips (like picking up groceries on the way in, as there are limited nearby places to eat out). Just what the doctor ordered for a quiet couple's getaway. Peaceful and beautiful area, with friendly Scrub-Jays to keep you company during morning coffee! Very highly recommended.

Exceptional view from each room in a very good quite neighborhood! The house is built to show case the astounding view of Muir beach and ocean with paying attention to the details to use the limited space of the house to the perfection so elegantly. The house was very clean, well-stocked, and well-thought through to make our stay memorable. Location wise, the house is very close to Muir wood, Tamalpais MT and of course very close to San Fransico to fill our trip with full of adventurous events, both urban and rural ones! Also, there is a hidden way to access Muir beach close to the house that we could get to the beach without driving and could go for walk next to the beach or go for a hike in Pirate Cove trail with stunning view of ocean or Tennessee valley trail. The host was very prompt when I had questions about location of the house. GPS helped us to get to the house easily, but the document that host sent us in advance was reassuring that we were on the right path to get to the house. We enjoyed feeding scrub jays and watching them as they were couple of living nearby and the host kindly put peanuts to feed them. The mattresses of both bedrooms were super comfy, and we had a good night sleep. Overall, we had an amazing time in this house, and the thoughtful host made our stay very enjoyable and memorable. We definitely plan to go back next summer!

Beverly was very welcoming. When we booked the house, she sent a PDF of how to get there which was very clear—we didn't even need GPS(A small detail that went a long way in helping us plan our stay)! I truely enjoyed my drive from SF to this place.We had such a lovely time with nature. The location is perfectly set right between Muir Woods and Muir Beach, and we got to feed scrub jays right outside on the patio (yes, she had snacks for the curious birds!). The views of the ocean, hills, and beach are amazing. We were lucky enough to see a rainbow stretching across the land to the ocean, which felt like a fairy tale.If you are looking to get away from traffic and noise, this is the place to be. We had no issues during our stay, and this was one of the most well-equipped rentals ever. I loved how she had all the essentials that we forgot to pack, like an umbrella and beach towels. 11/10 recommend if you’re looking for a getaway with the prettiest views and coolest vibes!

We had an excellent time staying at Muir Beach. Used the cottage as home base while visiting with our son in San Francisco. Easy drive to/from the city. Walked the beach nearly every day and even had a campfire on the beach one evening. The Pelican Inn has great food and we enjoyed hiking Mt. Tam. Yes, the outdoor shower is a must. Recommend!

Stunning house, gorgeous views

We had an amazing 4 days in this lovely house in Muir Beach. The views are so stunning, we were tempted not to leave the house and deck at all ... but we were lured by the walk down garden-lined staircases to the beach, and by hiking in Muir Woods just minutes away. The owner left us very helpful information about the area, and the house was cozy and spotless. We can't wait to come back!

Beautiful house with stunning views, well stocked, spotlessly clean on arrival, bedrooms downstairs, loved feeding the scrub jays and had the deers in the garden. The drive to the property is about 20 minutes on a winding mountain road and the walk to the beach is via lots of stairs. The seating in the lounge is not that comfortables and no sunset but overall this property is outstanding

I first moved to Muir Beach in 1996, and knew this community was my heart's desire. I delight in taking advantage of all it has to offer...kayak trips up the coast, full moon mountain biking in the hills, and sunrise hikes to taste the salt air, hear the rushing waves, and see coyotes run the hills if I am lucky. Though family reasons have taken me back east for awhile, Muir Beach feels like my true home.

Why they chose this property

I built this home high on a hillside, hoping for a private setting, and a feeling that I could be 'outside' while indoors. That is just what I have. Sometimes I even need to wear my sunglasses inside on a great sunny day!

What makes this property unique

I named my house 'Aurora', after the Roman Goddess of the Dawn. As my house faces southeast, both gorgeous sunrises and bright full moon rises will greet you over the headlands, and have you awestruck at the beauty that surrounds you. The nicest part about this house is that although you are in a house filled with huge panes of glass that let you see all of the amazing outdoor scenery that surrounds you, you are nestled in the treetops and feel at once very exposed to nature yet tucked away in the most private place around.
