The location:
Foster Pond also known as Ingalls Pond, is a quaint body of water nestled between the towns of Naples, Bridgton and Sebago in South Bridgton. Its location makes it ideal for those looking to have quick access to the attractions offered by the larger, surrounding lakes but prefer a more peaceful and private place to reside. The pond’s water quality has been rated as above-average and does not allow motorboats that exceed 10 horsepower. The shoreline is mostly undeveloped, making it a nice retreat for canoers and kayakers. It features warm water as well as some cold water fishing and has been considered one of the best smallmouth bass lakes in the Bridgton area. The pond is also known for its yellow perch, chain pickerel, rainbow smelt, and hornpout.
The hiking trails of Holt Pond Preserve and Bald Pate Mountain Preserve are only a short distance from the shoreline of Foster Pond. Holt Pond Preserve offers 5.3 miles of trails through wetland and upland habitats while the trail network of Bald Pate Mountain Preserve totals 6.7 miles and includes views from the top of Bald Pate, which has an elevation of 1100 feet.
The town of Naples, best known for its Causeway, which features a number of eateries, live music, shops, and marina, is 5 miles from Foster Pond. It is also home to the Songo River Queen, a replica of the famous Mississippi River Paddle Wheelers. The Queen is available for cruises on Long Lake throughout the tourist seasons. 10 miles down Route 302 from the Naples Causeway lies the town of Bridgton and its historic downtown village. Here one can find shops, restaurants, and the Magic Lantern movie theater.
Foster Pond promises a relaxing lakefront experience and proximity to local attractions. In this sense, it offers the best of both worlds!
