Down a sandy lane, sheltered by the tallest oaks in the area, this thoughtfully restored retreat provides a peaceful sanctuary from which to base a memorable vacation. The bright, airy gourmet kitchen has a breakfast bar and antique French doors which open onto the back deck for morning coffee in the sunlit garden. Large family room/dining room and separate living room, both with fireplaces, complete the ample first floor. All four bedrooms and two full baths are on the second floor; the master bathroom boasts an enormous ''lion's paw'' double ended tub, as well as custom shower with seat. One bedroom has a sleeping loft, fun for children. The third floor roof deck is accessible from the master bedroom, up a ladder and through the serene meditation space. The wrap-around screened porch, rooftop basking deck, backyard terrace, hammock in the woods, sleep-in windowseats, fully stocked game cabinet, and pool table, boxing heavy bag and spring-free trampoline along with a mini-soccer field sized grass yard offer many options to stay put, rain or shine.... Swimming, surfing, or sandcastle building are all easily accessible at nearby Corn Hill Beach on the bayside, and Longnook or Ballston Beach on the oceanside. Morning croissants & wonderful deli sandwiches, groceries & newspapers (Jams), the Truro post office, bait & tackle shop and fish market, are all 1 mile down quiet Castle Road. Castle Hill Center for the Arts is around the corner, as are the local farmstand, video rental and Pamet River Harbor.
Truro is blessed with exceptional beaches on both ocean and bay, and the unique historical treasures of Highland Light lighthouse, Highland Links public golf course, and the Truro Historical Museum, where volunteers explain displays and special exhibits illuminating life in Truro over the centuries. The Cape Cod National Seashore provides incomparable beauty and places to hike, mountain bike, swim and surf. Fishing on ocean or bay is fantastic, from beach or boat. Thursday night summer concerts on the green in Truro Center are always popular and only minutes away.
Provincetown, famed for restaurants, shopping, whale watching and nightlife, is 15 minutes in one direction, while Wellfleet, known for galleries, W.H.A.T. theater, boating, beaches and Wednesday night square dances on the pier, 15 minutes in the other direction.
The house has new improvements, including a new open yard stocked with beautiful native plants, a 'soccer field' down by the barn open for lawn sports, a man cave with a full sized pool table, couches and a heavy bag and boxing timer, along with environmental improvements (new solar panels) and mini-split units throughout the house for full and energy-efficient AC.
