For the Escapist and Daydreamer - Otter Cliff House

Imagine starting your day hearing the bell buoy near the famed Ocean Path of Acadia National Park. You decide to walk or bike from your house to watch the sunrise light up Otter Cliffs and Monument Cove. You have the place mainly to yourself, and the seagulls. You walk a little further to see what action might be happening at Thunderhole. From there you see that Sand Beach isn't much further, and you realize that you chose a home base as close to the Park as it gets. A rare location, indeed.

While one of the best aspects of this property is it's location to the treasures of Acadia, the property itself hosts a maze of stone walks and gardens with granite lined paths in honor of the trail makers of the area. The home is surrounded on 3 sides by fields, with the National Park's hardwood forest edge right along the back boundary. From here it is quick to make your way down the hill to Otter Cove and beachcomb at low tide.

The yard is private with open meadows, apple trees, dragonflies, garden paths and extensive perennial gardens to enjoy. The southwest corner provides hammocks perched in the whispering ash and poplar forest, with views out to the south ridge of Cadillac Mountain.

Your secluded back patio area offers a peaceful setting where you can plan your day's adventures. It's a place to relax after a long day of exploring, or, you may choose to head the 6 miles into the hub of Bar Harbor for meals and live music. Whatever you choose, this Otter Cliff house is the perfect jumping off point to visit Mount Desert Island and Acadia, and it offers its own unique natural beauty and relaxing atmosphere.

The property feels very remote but is only a 3 minute drive to the Sieur de Monts entrance to Acadia and about 7 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. We saw wild turkeys and a couple of babies nearly every day in the yard which was neat.

Loved the Otter Cliff House

We had a wonderful time at the Otter Cliff House. It was perfect for the 5 of use. It was well stocked and very clean when we arrived. It’s just the right distance to drive back and forth from Bar Harbor. Sherri was a great host and checked in several times to see if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend staying there and would stay there again.

Perfect location for seeking aventure in Acadia NP

The house very clean and had everything that you would have in your own house. It was like being at home. The location was perfect for getting around Acadia and seeing all the sites and exploring awesome trails. It was also 5 minutes from Bar Harbor but secluded enough to be away from it all, in a nice quite suburban setting. Over all we loved it thank you very much.

Loved challenging hikes, autumn foliage, rocky coastlines, and Bar Harbor cuisine. The Otter Cliff property was in a great location - secluded, yet could walk to Thunderhole and numerous hiking trails. Also, only a five minute drive from the action in Bar Harbor. Highly recommend!!

The location, which was practically inside the park, was great. Less than a mile from the ocean. The kitchen was sufficient for the meals we cooked there. The beds were comfortable. We usually spent the evening playing cards around the dining room table. We also took advantage of the Smart TV to watch some Netflix shows from our account. We especially appreciated the motion sensing nightlights when we got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathrooms. The hammocks were a nice touch as well.

If you are looking for the perfect location to explore the island and have a comfortable and relaxing stay, look no further! The home is extremely private, quiet and cozy! we hiked and explored hard every day we were here and at the end of the day this was the perfect place to be! Sherri was very kind and easy to contact. Comfortable home with just the right seclusion

My family had the pleasure of staying at the Otter Cliff house last week. The home was clean, comfortable, and had all the needed amenities and more. We were impressed with being provided with plenty of toilet paper other places we have always had to purchase some along with laundry detergent. The beds were very comfortable which is always a PLUS! Loved the sectional couch in the living room and portable fans that could be moved throughout the house as needed. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, but the frying pans could be replaced. We made breakfast every morning and the coating is mostly worn off and everything really stuck so it was a struggle cooking in the pans. The backyard space is delightful and relaxing. We loved our stay at Otter Cliff and highly recommend it. Sherri, the host is super friendly and a great communicator.

Amazing Vacation

This property was amazing. It was as described. Very clean and had everything you would need to cook a meal. The kitchen was stocked well with plates, pots and pans etc and it has a full sized fridge. Plenty of toilet paper and towels! Sherri was great. We had a problem with the dishwasher and she was on it immediately. She was easy to get in touch with. A very gracious host. The house was very pleasant. Beautiful artwork and the garden was amazing. It was so relaxing to sit in the garden in the morning. The house was very private and quiet. Our first morning we were greeted by wild turkeys! It was conveniently located to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (15ish minutes). It is one of the best vacation houses, I have stayed in. I would love to stay there again!

He met his partner Sherri who had moved here and established herself as an independent local business owner, and who shared the same love for the mountains and coastal life. Together with our daughter, we work hard, travel as much as possible, and enjoy sharing our passion for the outdoors, arts, culture, and adventure with others. Otter Cliff House is our way to invite folks to stay on the island so that they may experience a similar connection and create lasting memories. On a quiet road 1/2 mile from Acadia's park loop and Fabbri, you will find privacy and sunshine here. While it is hard to see any neighboring houses from the yard, it is easy to spot white-tail deer, wild turkeys, squirrels and song birds. Otter Cliff House is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with kitchen, dining room, living room, and a small desk area for work or for researching your next hike. It is situated on 2+ private acres, and it is one of the only places available for guests to rent so close to the Ocean Path and loop road of Acadia National park. A real gem.

Your hosts live locally nearby and have many years of experience traveling and adventuring all over this island, and love to share this knowledge with fellow explorers. We even have a few secret spots so don't hesitate to inquire.
