Everything felt well cared for, comfortable, and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend Kim’s place to anyone looking for a clean, cozy, and beautiful place to stay. Great hosts and very helpfull. Unfortunately for us, the majority of our time was spent on Gwynns Island while there. Very easy access to all Matthews county has to offer from this location. Highly recommend this property for longer stays.

My family had a great stay! We were only in Mathew's for a weekend but we loved the area and Kim and Mary's space. We had plenty of space to relax when we weren't out and about, inside and out. The outdoor patio and dock were so nice with the shade and breeze coming off the river. Inside, the beds were comfy and we had even more "extras" than we needed. The kitchen and fridge was well stocked with complimentary snacks, breakfast supplies and options for a quick meal. We spent extra time at the house enjoying the pool table which my son LOVED. Kim and Mary were very attentive and even though we didn't need anything extra were just a quick message away. Can't wait to come back again!

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding, and while everyone else stayed in a hotel 30 min away, we stayed here! It was the loveliest time! The best thing was getting the chance to make breakfast, and sit out by the water under the trees! I absolutely would recommend this space!

Everything was perfect. It was home away from home. Lacking nothing . The views were amazing and so cozy. The Host went out of their way to be extra nice. Even filling the fridge with milk, orange juice, eggs and snacks. I would book again and suggest anyone who is staying in Mathews to do the same. Thank you so much.

This is the best VRBO of all times, we had a great time and everything was perfect from start to finish and I mean perfect, we would not change a single thing and we will book here again and again. I would give them 11 stars out of 10, it was the best, plenty of parking, lots of space inside, huge deck and patio outside, a reading area just off the living room, huge living room and large kitchen with everything you need to cook, a popcorn machine, genuine/imitation jukebox and a full size pool table at the far end of the living room within sight of the TV, new HVAC kept the correct temp all 7 days we sat on the dock and ducks would come within 10 feet of us, blue herons fishing, birds singing, so quiet and peaceful. A 1500 square foot house at an incredible low price, no cleaning fees and everything was perfect….what more could you ask for?

The space was just as described on the listing. Communication between us and our host was excellent. We have stayed in many different places and this space was far better equipped than any other place. Anything you need in that kitchen, they had it. Need extra blankets, sheets, towels or pillows, they had it. They even had a half a gallon of milk, orange juice, bread and a dozen eggs along with water and snacks in the space when we arrived. We would recommend the space to anyone staying in the area.

This property wa deceiving the photos were not accurate and I never saw the stairs which they have listed now. I felt as though I was in a dungeon the furniture was old dilapidated when you sat on the furniture you sank to the bottom. The shower was extremely small not accessible to anyone who had any type of disabilities or restrictions. The internet went dead at 11:00 11:30 and did not come back on did not come on until the morning there was bugs or insects shall I say on the counter when we woke up. We were eating alive by bugs on the patio facing the lake it was a very traumatic experience and I don't think they should be renting that space out because we call it a dungeon because that's exactly what it was

I am not sure how to respond to this review other than to say I disagree with everything it contains. The listing clearly states that the space is a finished basement. Furniture is not dilapidated. There are numerous pictures of the listing from every angle of every room. There is a picture of the stairway. The shower is small but there is a picture of it in the listing. I disagree with the comment about bugs. I am not aware nor was I made aware by the guest of an alleged problem with the Internet. I do not control the number of mosquitos or whatever outside the house. I can only suggest that prospective guests read the reviews from other previous guests and place more weight on what they say versus this review. Kim

Kim and Mary were wonderful hostesses! The home was thoughtfully prepared for having younger children stay. I personally feel they went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Beds were comfortable and kids loved the pool table!

This is a lovely quiet property on the water. It was the best supplied property I’ve ever stayed in with food in the cupboard and fridge and bath room toiletries, even an extra toothbrush. (Good thing because I forgot mine.) There’s plenty of room to spread out and even a pool table. Highly recommended for your next trip to this wonderful little corner of the world.

What can I say? I need a sixth or seventh star to properly rate this host and property. The pictures and description are beautiful but really don’t do the place justice. Just a perfect place to get away, more than enough room, immaculately clean.If you forget something, Kim remembered it. They provide food and drink if you don’t bring enough, most hosts don’t do this. Plenty of activities, pool table in the unit got plenty of use, he even set up the corn hole for us on the back porch. So peaceful earlier in the morning driving a cup of coffee (provided) on the deck overlooking the water, I highly recommend this! Great communication (better than mine was, sorry had some phone issues).. all in all absolutely wonderful and would stay again in an heartbeat. Worth every penny and minute. This is southern hospitality

There was such a welcoming atmosphere in this home. Very comfortable and more than expected amenities provided in the way of water and breakfast items. The backyard of this home is absolutely gorgeous and the sitting area on the creek is relaxing. You could fish if you wanted. The hosts are welcoming but unobtrusive, careful of your privacy. Honestly I thought they and this home provided the epitome of southern hospitality.

Charming & Cozy Getaway – Perfect for Unplugging!

We absolutely loved our stay at this super cute basement suite! The space was much more spacious than we expected, with a comfy layout that made it easy to relax. What really made it special was the decor – full of antique knick-knacks and thoughtful touches that gave it so much character and charm.There’s no cell service, which was honestly a huge plus for us. It was the perfect excuse to truly unplug and unwind without distractions. They also stocked the place with plenty of snacks, which held us over nicely between meals – such a thoughtful gesture! And if you do need anything, Main Street is just a quick drive away.We’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, cozy retreat with lots of personality!

Seemed like someone hadn’t stayed there in a while. There was dust on dishes and a couple dead bugs on comforter. The water smelled like sulfur. But the yard and space was really nice and we felt welcome and safe. Bathroom shower was a little small. Overall it was a great experience! We had a blast!

Quiet and secluded home, enjoyable relaxing either creekside on small deck or on larger deck at the house.. Sat by the creek early evening with no bugs..Well insulated to the point we could barely know the owners were upstairs… owners were very nice and helpful if needed…Like others noted a selection of snacks, spices, condiments were available, along with drinking water bottles…The appliances worked just fine, everything was clean… we need to cook meals while traveling, plenty of pots n pans, silverware and plates/bowls/cups, but did need to get some disposable baking pans when we got our groceries, but the nearby store had everything we needed…Loved the stock of sandwich/gallon type bags and other foils/wraps!Would stay again if in the area…
