This was one of the best vacations we have ever had. Sam and Mark were wonderful hosts. The place was peaceful, clean and quiet. I loved it. We did not want to leave. Sam and Mark, thank you again. We hope yo come back one day!!!Shelly & Allen
We would stay here again! The hosts were very welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. The area felt safe and remote - yet was only 15 minutes away from grocery stores, walmart, resteraunts, etc. The water here was calm and fairly shallow. They even have a pond/large deck/bar area that you can use. The beds and couches were comfortable and soft. They had plenty of towels for our family of 6 there and available! They also had things to cook with, silverware, cups, plates, bowls, etc., so we were able to make meals at the house with ease! We did not realize the hosts home was also on the same property and the dock is behind their house, but they were kind and we were able to use everything on the property without feeling like we were at all in the way - more just like having neighbors. Thank you for everything and for letting us stay!
Peaceful location, courteous host, beautiful scenery. The location puts you far enough away from tourist areas to where you don't have to feel like traffic is an issue but close enough to get to anything within minutes
This cottage is the perfect getaway! The scenery by the deck is breathtaking. The hosts were nice, accommodating, and really thought of every detail to make the stay perfect. Already missing this cottage and Virginia!
The place was described accurately. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable, and the cottage was bigger than we were expecting. No issues with checking in or communication. The owners were nice, answered our questions, and made sure we had what we needed, which was fantastic. It was cold when we were there, and we didn't get to fish the river, but we caught plenty of smallmouth bass and bluegill in the pond. The amount of space we had to run our dogs was exactly what we were looking for in a property. Unfortunately, renters should know that there are dogs on both sides of the property that roam freely. We had to keep a close eye on the grounds before we could let our dogs out because they are afraid of large dogs charging at them. Every day, we had issues with dogs running at ours and had to keep our dogs close to the house. This is something to consider if you are bringing your dog. Otherwise, we loved the property and enjoyed our stay. Going into town was easy, and nothing was too far away from the property. It was quiet in the evenings and a nice retreat away from city living.

We had a lovely Mother's Day weekend away and are appreciative of the Cottage at Jameslin. The cottage is quite roomy with a comfortable living room, kitchen with many necessities, large beds and a screened-in porch. Coffee maker/Keurig was supplied, linens for the beds and bath, hand soap, tissues, books, DVDs all available. The host invited us to wander the property and enjoy the boat dock and Tiki bar by the pond. Note: there were dogs running loose and while we love dogs and did not have any problems, some want to know that detail. Host was clear on arrival information and quick to answer questions. With a few updates and attention to detail, this cottage would be even more charming. The home itself shows some wear; the interior walls could use some touch ups. The bath linens were old and thin, but there were plenty of them. There were cobwebs on the furniture on the porch, and in the windows. We were also surprised that the photos included in the VRBO description do not make it clear that the cottage is in the host's front yard, basically. While we were welcomed to walk to the dock and Tiki bar, there were other people around which was awkward, in our opinion. As a former host, I was a bit disappointed and hope there might some updates to the details in the description, specifically the lovely deck that is now a pond and some upgrades to the cottage.
We enjoyed our stay! The house was comfortable and the scenery was lovely. It was an easy drive to Busch Gardens and convenient to parks and restaurants. Thank you for a wonderful weekend getaway!
The cottage setting was so peaceful. We took advantage of the tiki hut for dinner and card games. The cottage was very nicely appointed - clean, beautifully done. We would definitely stay again if we visit the area.
If you are looking for a peaceful place to take your dog, this is it. Lots of wildlife, and plenty of birdwatching. The water was very relaxing to be by. The cozy little cottage would be perfect for a small family.
Beautiful property, comfy home off the beaten path yet just minutes from town! Sam and Mark are so kind and readily available. She was very responsive to texts and Mark shared stories of the area. Our 2 dogs accompanied us and enjoyed walks outdoors. Dog friendly home yet did not smell like it! Very clean! Visited Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg, & Chesapeake Bay.
The cottage was a very nice place to stay. It has everything you could need. Its also a very secluded area, so if thats something that you like, then youll enjoy your stay. Bush Gardens and Williamsburg are only 30-35 minutes away. We enjoyed our 3 day stay here, thank you Mark and Sam.
This is a beautiful and serene property away from it all--yet close enough to all of the sites of Williamsburg, Yorktown, etc. Hosts were gracious and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Beautiful location- fairly secluded with wildlife and access to water, and is the perfect place to bring the pups. House has cute waterside cottage vibes, and is stocked with almost anything you would need. The property owners were very nice and accommodating.
