The River House Getaway! Come Relax and Enjoy!

What a wonderful property located at This non smoking property is an all brick ranch located across the street from the Piankatank River with super views as well as access to a small sandy beach. The River House is 2000 sf and can accomodate up to 8 guests. Enjoy the Canoe, play some ping pong, relax in the sun room, go fishing, or just do nothing at all! Bedroom number 1 has a queen size, Bedroom number 2 has a Full and a set of Bunk Beds, Bedroom 3 is the Master with a Queen and private full bath. The Kitchen has all Cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The River House has central heat and air as well as brand new double hung windows. The Dining area has an awesome view of the river with a bay window that can let in River Breezes!
Don't Forget about the best room in the house on the end...The Sunroom; ideal for relaxing, watching a movie, or taking a nap!

Yorktown (Riverwalk Resturant is our favorite there) 36 min; Urbana (Urbana Oyster Festival is Nov 2-3, 2012) 34 min; Gwynn's Island (Gwynn's Island Festival June 28-29, 2013) 24 min; Deltaville (Cocomo's Resturant) 22 minutes; Mathews Courthouse (Mathews Market Days Sept 7-8, 2012) 20 min; Our favorite pottery is The Poddery (Owned and operated by Robert and Karen Podd) in Foster 14 min; Gloucester Courthouse (Daffodil Festival April 6-7, 2013) 20 min. Holly Hill Antiques on Route 14 - 11 minutes; Mathews Courthouse has a farmer's market on Main Street each Saturday morning. Favorite grocery store - Food Lion in Mathews Courthouse. Favorite fresh vegetables -Ware Neck Produce in Gloucester Courthouse. Wines come from Kelsick Specialty Market in Gloucester CH (they'll also order any wine you want). ABC stores in Gloucester CH, Mathews CH and Deltaville. Best fried seafood is Seabreeze on Gwynn's Island. Closest pizza - Stan Strings - Cobbs Creek 10 min. We also love the Crazy Crab Resturant in Reedville (1 hour).
They just opened a BREWERY on Main Street Gloucester court house!! Hooray!

Lovely Stay

We were in the area for the Tour de Chesapeake in Mathews, and this house was just a short drive away. The description is spot on. The house is large with plenty of space for guests to spread out if needed. The interior of the home was super clean and well stocked. There are ample linens, towels and kitchenware, and there are a number of games. We really enjoyed playing ping pong and looking out the window at the water. The place is very private and quiet.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful time canoeing/kayaking, fishing, biking, and hanging out. The beds were comfortable and the home was clean. 100% recommend.

Absolutely wonderful layout for family. The space is very open and inviting. House supplied nicely with linens, kitchen supplies etc. Very nice water access for kayak or canoe. Can't wait to go back.

We came to Gloucester to help a friend out- and a few of us went to the quilt show in Hampton. House was perfect size for 6 adults to stay. Waking up seeing the river was a great start for the day. House was clean and as advertised. We will stay here again!

Perfect for a Williamsburg getaway

The place was perfect for us. It was close enough to the theme parks while far enough away from the main tourist areas to experience some local flair. I loved sitting on the side porch in the evening and listening to the frogs.

Great Getaway

The River House Getaway is a fantastic location with beautiful views of the Piankatank river and lots of space. The house was clean, stocked with towels and linens and kitchen cookware we needed. The hosts were great to work with! We really enjoyed our stay there.

Family getaway

This was a great place to meet up with family to enjoy a few days together. The house was well stocked with what we needed to just visit and be together. A very remote area but not a difficult drive to sight see and find things to do in Yorktown, Jamestown, VA Beach and Williamsburg.

Beautiful home away from home

We had a great family stay at this property on the York River. Great early winter view. This property is great for large families/family gatherings even in the winter. Could use some sugar/coffee in the kitchen & more detailed description as where to dispose of our trash at the end of stay. We highly recommend this property, can only imagine how much nicer to stay during the summer.

The River House Gloucester County

This is a great house. Lots of great amenities. We had planned to go visit the historic triangle on Saturday, but mother nature had other ideas. Indoors it was, and there was lots of things to occupy our time (pingpong, board games, Roku tv, and the big bay window to view the river.

Relaxing getaway!

What a wonderful home! My family enjoyed the normal amenities of any home… what made my trip (as a Wife/mother of teens) were the little unexpected touches. Fully stocked kitchen, comfy throw blankets, coolers, trash bags/ toilet paper/ paper towels. LOVED the family photos around the house. The kayaks were great! Along with the beach area. Thanks for having us!

Peaceful

We loved the house. It had a nice view of the river and was located in a very quiet and peaceful area. It was nice to be able to go out and do all the touristy things and then be able to come back and relax at the house. It had everything you would need and we cooked out on the grill a few times which was nice. The owners were very helpful when the power went out and kept us updated when it would most likely be back on. I would definitely recommend this lovely home for anyone planning on visiting the area.

Good stay, beautiful views

We brought our family into town for Christmas Town at Busch Gardens. We had a little trouble getting in as the digital lock was not working, but there was a key in a lock box. Took a few minutes to get that in the darkness, but finally got in. We encountered a few minor problems (water pressure and broken closet door) and communicated to the property owner and received timely replies. We enjoyed the ping pong table, games and the furniture was comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well.

Great place to stay!

The house was very nice and clean. The only complaint I have is trying to wash the linens before leaving. If you have a stay here with the full amount of guests it would be difficult to complete the laundry before the 11am check out time. Also made it worse that the previous guests left their laundry half done and I didnt notice this until I went to wash ours. Other than that it was great.

Perfect Vacation for Any Age!

We had a group of 5 and the home was perfect. The master bedroom and bathroom are in a quiet area of the house, so adults can relax. The sun room was a great hangout space for our 4 teenage boys. Ping pong table was lots of fun, and the eating area and kitchen are spacious and well stocked. We used the kayaks, canoe and bike and walked the lovely country road where the home is located. We did a day trip to the Williamsburg area. The boys enjoyed the amusement parks, and there is plenty to see in the historic areas for adults. The town of Gloucester is really cute, and there are plenty of stores on the nearby highway to get everything you need for your stay.

The house is charming with a good view.

Enjoyed the house tucked away down a winding road with a good view of the river. My family enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the setting. We enjoyed eating at the dining room table with the view of the river. We enjoyed the kayaks quite a bit. My daughter and I spent a few hours out exploring the wildlife of the river and the marsh. The kitchen was well stocked— wouldnhave preferred to a few more pot holders and trivets. The upgrades with the cable TV and the coming WIFI are good. Please be sure to provide your guests with the WIFI passwords. We could see that WIFI was available but could not access. We were a bit disappointed in Sunday afternoon when the gardener decided it was time to cut the grass. We had extended family over for some quality time together and the lawnmower was very distracting. Others have said this in their reviews about having to wash, dry, fold and put away the linens. We’ve stayed in the area before and only had to strip the beds and put the sheets and towels in the laundry basket. Having to do the laundry before we left that morning made it a bit stressful. Thanks you for sharing your home with us. We enjoyed our relaxing stay.

Serene & Tranquil with Plenty To Do

We had a fantastic long weekend! The house has so many things to do and a great relaxing feel. The ability to bring our highly-anxious rescue dog was a huge plus for us. We were able to take her for nice long walks down the lane and it felt like a quaint cottage village but you quickly realized: many live her year round. The home is well-appointed. We brought our own towels and sheets to save on doing laundry on checkout day but the linen closet is well-stocked. The kitchen is also well-stocked with everything we needed. Small things - like dishwasher and dish detergent, hand soap and paper towels made were all there and so appreciated. Eating dinner at the table looking out at the river was beautiful! We took advantage of the canoe and did a morning trip down the river and back. We played ping pong and played some of the other games provided. We also just relaxed. During the day we drove off the beaten path to a couple wineries, local shops, etc. There is plenty to do and see depending on what you’re “in to.” Williamsburg is not that far if you like a more touristy venue and if you’re looking for a larger beach we took note of several within a short drive. Gary was available for questions and very communicative - even accommodating an extra day to our stay when our daughter’s schedule opened up. We’d love to come back for another long weekend or longer. Thank you For sharing your home with us! It was wonderful!

We thought we were going to see a small home in need of repair but instead we saw a wonderful place that has a personality all its own!
