About the host
Hosted by Mary Helen Ellis
Love the quote by an unknown author: 'The Human Spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man.' Scott and Mary Helen Ellis; we love the rural life! Our passions range from the oldest town in NC on the Pamlico River to the northern NC Blue Ridge Mountains. We love all things nature: woods, wildlife, Celtic music, boating, hiking, horseback riding, crafting, gardening...and all things old: antiques, genealogy, NC's oldest town, and old legends. Give us the views across rivers, oceans and mountains to the most sophisticated views across the grand cities of the world. We wonder at the remarkable beauty and elegance in a bevy of butterflies sunning on a rock in a bold mountain stream...as opposed to the brush strokes of someone hanging on a wall, lit by a bulb, in a stuffy building...Our fervent belief is that nothing mankind can do is ever on par with what our Creator did!
Why they chose this property
Every year of our 30+ years of marriage, we have ventured to the NC mountains. In 1997 we made the leap of faith to purchase our property at Leatherwood Mountains Resort, appreciating the concept of stewardship in creating a human presence but maintaining the wilderness for all generations.
What makes this property unique
Our Concept: seclusion, just you and your family/friends, the beautiful wilderness all around, the long range views of the glorious mountains, peace...
