Quiet cabin close to everything, yet in the middle of nowhere<br>
Your UP adventure begins here. Quiet cabin on 80 acres conveniently located off US 2 with comforts of home such as good wifi and 65” TV or step outside into the beautiful woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Relax by a fire, hunt, fish or make day trips. An hour west of the Mackinac Bridge and an hour east of Escanaba, 20 minutes to Manistique, 30 minutes to Kitch-iti-kipi, 15 minutes to Seney National Forrest, 45 minutes to Pictured Rocks and Grand Marais, approximately an hour to Tahquamenon Falls or the Soo Locks. The home price reflects the out dated but clean condition. Purchased the home last year as it’s adjacent to other cabins and land I own. One of few in the area that allow pets, especially larger breeds, please be honest with pets as it’s always extra work for the cleaning company. It is the UP! Expect mosquitoes. Older home purchased last year as it’s attached to 400 acres of my/family land. Needs updating which it will get eventually along with AC. As for now as the reviews show, clean andcomfortable but dated home that allows pets. If you want a city vacation or the Ritz this is not your place. It is very much a “UP cabin” for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and sightseeing.

The home was pet friendly and the owner was great and very responsive. It was as described and we enjoyed walking the main trail with the dogs. It was also conveniently located for the activities we were seeking. Would stay again.
It was a nice place glad it wasn't too hot because I had no air conditioning which was not a plus and they said it was in Gulliver 10 minutes away from manistique no it was 25 miles away out in the middle of nowhere didn't like that not really happy
Our time at this home was very nice. It had everything we needed to enjoy the stay and prepare meals. The location in mid UP was ideal- not too far from anything. Privacy from the road was nice too.
The location was excellent to explore that area of the U.P.
When we first arrived there was a slight smell, I think it was coming from the basement. It aired out pretty good when we opened it up. Nice place, we would stay there again if we was vacationing in the area.
Great place to stay about 30 minutes from any town
It was easy to find, I loved the process of 'checking in' it was all very easy and the host was amazing and replied in a decent amount of time if you had to contact him. It's such a cute place, I loved the bathroom lights, and the only thing I would add is a few general paintings or pictures around the house cuz the walls seem a little empty.
Very clean, new linens, lots of towels. It was centrally located for our day trips. It was nice having a home base and it was economical compared to a hotel. The property was private so our dog was able to run. We highly recommend a stay there. The only downside for us, a couple, was no full size bed, only twin beds. Otherwise, everything was great!!
This place worked perfect for our UTV trip. We were able to ride right from the cabin (with help from VV Mapping). Other days we trailered 20 min north to Seney and dropped there. Great grocery store 20 min south in Manistique. Plenty of room in the cabin to spread out. We had 3 trucks with trailers and plenty of parking as well.
Twin beds are very comfortable and have stable frames. (no rickety beds here!) There are 2 additional cots available as well. The en suite bathroom has safety rails and a built in seat which was perfect for my 78 year-old mother. The front steps are a bit of a challenge if you have any mobility difficulties. The property was very clean. When a minor house issue was noted, the owners were very prompt and professional in addressing the situation. The only negative was road noise. I did not realized the house was so close to Route 2. A surprising perk: there were apples in the yard! (I'm Southern, it was my first straight from the tree apple ever!) When you stay, look for mile marker 253 to help you locate the road.

Cleaning needed
Shower curtain was on the verge of growing mold if not already. No wash cloths provided. Toilet seat was not attached. Soap scum on the main shower. Not much kitchenware or eating bowls provided, which is important since cooking is often a must with the rural location. Front stoop should probably have a rail due to fall risk. New towels but were likely not washed. Single ply tp, knowing it’s probably on a septic there are still better options (we have one too).
Positives: Great tv with many streaming options, rural location was able to let our dogs run, sheets, good internet.
Things uncontrollable: spotty phone service in the area and app will not pull up directions provided. Apple or google maps will bring you elsewhere. Make sure to have written directions pulled up or memorized. The vrbo app would not pull up checkout info if any provided and checked out too early in the morning to call and ask. Had no idea what to do with garbage. Large misquotes in a mass number but that’s the UP

Thank you for the feedback. There was definitely no mold on the shower curtains and extremely u likely plastic curtains would mold since I was there last and a professional cleaning company cleaning the home, however they have been instructed to change the shower curtain to one with a pattern to better hide inevitable water spots. Change toilet seats. I also want to assure you the towels were washed. We did add more towels but the cleaning company did wash them. The toilet paper is a preference I suppose, it is the same product the cleaning company uses in dozens of rentals in the area. This is second home we typically use paper products for eating. I have instructed the cleaning company to purchase more plates and bowls to better accommodate guests. The front step is admittedly a big one, however the last owner was in his 70’s and managed it as well as it passed the homeowners inspection but we have the maintenance guy coming out to address it with maybe an additional step or rail. I will update the VRBO site to remind clients the UP is beautiful because it’s natural, so cell coverage can be spotty until you can connect to wifi and there will definitely be mosquitoes. Thanks again.
I arrived at the rental home about 7pm on Sunday, July 14th 2024. Upon entering into the house, I was hit with a horrible mold/mildew smell. I immediately went to the windows to open them to reduce the smell and noticed that many of the screens had huge holes in them. There were a lot of mosquitoes at the property, so I had to choose to try to reduce the smell, or have the mosquitos come inside. It was impossible to turn on the ceiling fans because they were caked with a thick layer of dust. There were dead bugs all over the house. The house was in disrepair. Many of the cupboards in the kitchen didn’t even have bottoms to them. The bathroom door wasn’t even able to shut fully. My entire group of five didn’t want to stay there, all of them were bothered by the smell of the home. I am allergic to the dust and molds and it was unlivable for me. We left the rental within 2 hours of arriving, and I know it wasn’t more than that. I immediately scrambled, trying to find a new place to stay. I contacted the host that evening, who didn’t respond for over 12 hours. I then filed a complaint with vrbo and vrbo contacted him. Only then did he respond. He was hostile. The host then blocked me, so I was unable to communicate with him anymore. TOOK MY MONEY AND WOULD NOT REFUND!!! Wish I could give zero stars. WOULD RECOMMEND NOT STAYING HERE

After reviewing initial complaint, security camera showed guest arrived in the evening and the children, I assume, were seen outside complaining of the heat outside. Nest thermostat showed the closed up home at 76 degrees. Guest went inside to use internet to find a place with AC After 20 minutes, finding a new place using the WiFi as she admits in her initial complaint, they left. A few hours later she messaged me in VRBO app and asked for full refund as they found another place to stay. Immediately she had also sent complaint to VRBO with blurry pictures of one screen of 12 in home. The single screen pic has what appeared to be a hole from I’m guessing a guests dog. She also stated there was not enough fans to cool the home. The temp now was in the 60’s. There was a fan per room and a portable AC unit for the dining/dining area. This does not fit all prior feedback, however I messaged the cleaning company and they said they would go to the home immediately to clean or service to their satisfaction. The complaint of cabinets missing bottoms is new and comical. I responded immediately when they messaged me but it was after they arrived at their new destination. There is no way to block someone on the VRBO messenger. Liar. It appears they booked a cheap place that was available with no AC then after the cancellation period (with is liberal) and seeing the outside temp in the 80’s booked another place with AC and began to rant, lie and threaten to get a refund.

My family has owned land adjacent before the Mackinac bridge was built. The cabins near by are owned by me or my family. It’s not the Ritz it’s the UP. Enjoy your stay!
