I stayed at Ellen's cottage with my adult kids for a week this August. It was even sweeter than the pictures describe. Super comfortable and enough room for 4 adults and my little dog. Plenty of towels and linens, kitchen well stocked and the little gas fireplace made for a warmup on a couple of chilly mornings. Definitely recommend!
Perfect size for 1-3 people. Ellen thought of everything so if you forget something, you will probably find it here. Parsons Beach is a gem but getting one of the 8 parking spaces is unlikely. Plan to ride bikes or drop off belongings and park at end of Brown St. and walk in. Especially enjoyed screened in porch.
Overall what an awesome stay! The cottage was so peaceful and beautiful. No complaints at all. I think any family or couple would love this! My favorite part of the cottage was the sunroom. You can cozy up and read a book. My dog lily and my husband loved it too. It was really nice how close it was to the beach and those beach views nothing compares!

Thank you Lisa, yes the sunroom is my favorite room to hang in also. I'm glad Lily liked it too!
Lovely cottage with very cute "beachy decor." 15 minute walk to Kennebunk Center and short drive to beautiful Parson's beach. No dishwasher or TV but AC in main room and wonderful yard and screened in porch. Cottage well stocked with all of the essentials and Ellen was very responsive. Would highly recommend!

Hi Mary, so glad you enjoyed the location. Yes, it is a nice walk to town. It sounds like you might have liked to have a local tv station?
The SMART TV gets most anything through U-tube but the local news can be a little tricky to find.
We wanted our own place to wind down at instead of a hotel which we had done is years past in this area. My husband, 3 month old, 2 dogs and myself thoroughly enjoyed staying at this cottage. It is a short drive to the beach, and a short walk or drive into the town of Kennebunk. I think this place is best for a couple and children. It'd be tight for 2 couples (the second bedroom has a full bed). Also the house is fully stocked with anything you think you could need day to day. We really loved everything about our vacation which revolved around having such a comfortable place to stay. I highly recommend this place. Thank you Ellen!
If you are wanting to stay in Cottage Sheik this is the place! We enjoyed our stay so much! The cottage is a perfectly put together and everything we needed was there! It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay so much, that Ellen allowed us to ass one day to our stay! We were close enough to everything, beaches, stores, etc but we felt very secluded from everything.
The cottage was very cozy and easy to manage; perfect for a small family or couple. My wife is unable to walk without help and the small size of the house was a definite plus with helping her to get around. I was especially pleased with the convenience of the home's laundry facility and the ease of using the kitchen. The neighborhood is quiet and the setting very peaceful given its proximity to Rachel Carson NWF. A definite 5 star property rental.

Thank you John! I am so glad you guys had a nice stay and that the cozy cottage was made your vacation more enjoyable. Would love to have you come again!
The house was beautiful with everything I could have asked for. Perfect size for 3 people. Parsons beach was beautiful with only one complaint, not enough parking and had to walk a half a mile and park on the street. Though was worth the walk because of how gorgeous the ocean is. Loved having board games and card games at the house, made our nights enjoyable.

miscommunication
We have rented from VRBO in the past and have several trips for the future. This is by far the worst to date. Not because Maine isn't ok (beaches are rocky and filled to the brim with seaweed on the beach as well as red algae floating) but because we felt the house, distances to beaches, etc were misrepresented. Plus there was no beach pass as promised ($25/day parking). The house had feces under the bed (cat or ferret-NOT mouse dropping). Over charged for having to do sheets and cleaning before left. Unclean glasses, dust everywhere... just find another place.

The Kozy Kottage was not misrepresented. The description clearly states that the beach is 2 miles from the house and the town is within walking distance.
It was unfortunate that the prior guests had taken the parking pass with them, however the pass was not "promised" in the ad, it was a bonus included in the arrival information AFTER booking, though I did replace it as soon as possible. Also, no parking pass is necessary for Parson's Beach at the end of the road.
Although I was totally embarrassed that you found dog throw-up under the bed, it brought to my attention that I need to leave more time between guests (and check under the bed!). As a goodwill gesture you were refunded $100.
Regarding washing your own sheets and towels, a lot of rentals include a cleaning fee of up to $200. Instead I do rely on guests to do their own dishes and launder the sheets and towels before they leave. VRBO rentals are not hotels.
It seems your "Maine" experience just was not what you had expected as noted in your description of our beautiful beaches.

A gem!
We couldn’t have asked for anything more. The cottage is so bright and comfortable. It’s small but not cramped. We stayed comfortably with 3 young kids. Location is great, we found our way around in no time and it’s a super short drive to the beaches and attractions.
There’s no channels on the TV, but we brought along our Apple TV to hook up for the evenings while the kids wanted to relax and that worked fine. There were also toys for kids, which was a pleasant surprise.

Kozy Kottage close to the beach!!
The Kozy Kottage was absolutely adorable and close to everything I needed! I enjoyed Gooch's beach, Wells beach, and Parson's beach during my stay. No AC so bring extra fans if possible, the ceiling fan in the master bedroom was a lifesaver but, other rooms can get stuffy. There are delicious fresh berries in the yard and plenty of space outside to enjoy. Ellen was friendly and responsive. I hope to stay here again soon!

I love the beach! I spent my summers growing up on the coast of Maine. My whole family including two grown children, my little grandson, sister, cousins all love the beach and have that inherited pull to the ocean that runs in our blood from our shipbuilding Grandpa.
We've been vacationing on Long Island in Casco Bay. Casco Bay is another nice day trip you might enjoy. Ferry service is available out of Portland at Casco Bay Ferries.
When not enjoying the cottage myself, I spend my time living on a boat in Kittery, Maine and enjoying the sites and sounds of the Piscataqua River and Portsmouth, NH.
I usually have a little garden growing in the backyard with vegetables and fruit - help yourself to whatever is available.
I've been to a lot of beaches all over the world and I truly believe we have some of the best right here in Maine!
Why they chose this property
LOCATION: This house is a short bike ride to the beach or just a few minutes by car. But the beach is not the only thing to do (only in my mind), there is so much to see and do within walking distance: concerts in the Park, farmer's markets, craft fairs, hiking, bowling to name just a few.
Kennebunkport is 5 minutes away, groceries, health food store, fitness gym all within a mile or two.
What makes this property unique
Quiet, private beach at the end of the road, just take a right and keep going until you hit the beach (no parking permit required). The town of Kennebunk is a short walk from the house for a leisurely stroll for shopping, diner or just an ice cream.
The old historic Inns in the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport area are a treat to visit for lunch or diner.
The quiet backyard and patio is just right for cup of coffee in the morning or relaxing after a long day.
