Tammy is an exceptional host and her property is "sparkling" clean, with many touches that make you feel like family....We couldn't have asked for a more perfect accommodation.Would definitely stay here again!

Thank you so much for the kind words! We welcome you back anytime!!
We had a wonderful time, we were able to relax and reset and spend time together which is the goal for our New Year’s trip every year. Would definitely go back again.
What a beautiful property! My wife and I loved staying there with our 6 month old daughter. And she loved seeing the horses that will come right up to the fence near the cabin. The hosts are so wonderful as well. Friendly and responsive, and makes an excellent biscuits and gravy, my favorite breakfast of all time. I highly recommend this cabin for a quiet getaway.
Beautiful!Needs a closet and a dresser for clothes. Needs hooks for wet items such as towelsCouldn't store luggage under the bed because of all the dust and tiny debris. NOTE: Beautiful place, and the family was wonderful. Be sure you don't want to go into town much, as it's quite a drive.
We stayed at the Rusted Barn due to proximity to our desired boat ramp for spoonbill season at the Ozarks. Everything was adequate and ready for our arrival. The only issue (minor) we encountered was the beds were all super squeaky! If you're a light sleeper, be ready. We would still stay here again and it still rated 5 stars. The cookies on arrival were great!

The host is extremely inviting and welcoming. We feel like we found an old friend. Tammy puts a personal touch to everything. The home cooked meals we some of the best ever. And the cinnamon rolls were out of this world. We enjoyed having our meals brought to us at the cabin, never having to drive somewhere to find a good restaurant and fight traffic and crowds.
This is a very clean and peaceful property. My wife and I stayed 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. It felt cozy with the fireplace going, and the bed was very comfortable. If you want to explore, there are options. It is a little bit of a drive to get to some places, but it was worth it. We took a tour of the Bridal Cave and had a great experience.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. It was secluded and therefore peaceful, nice views of the countryside, and the owner was very pleasant. Easy to talk to, very creative in her crafts, all around good person. Will visit again soon!

Thank you so much for the kind words! It was wonderful having you stay with us, and we look forward to your next stay!
My boyfriend and I came to stay for a lake weekend over the fourth, as our friends had a house 20 min out. We loved the rusted barn !! It was even prettier and larger in person, the pictures are beautiful and still don’t do it justice ! Our host Tammy was so lovely and welcoming, easily the best experience I’ve had with any rental I’ve tried :)) Our only regret was wishing we had more time to spend in the house as we ended up at our friends for most of the weekend - if you have a chance, definitely stay here !!

About the host
Hosted by Tammy Thomas
Hello! We are Tim & Tammy Thomas. We have been married for 33 years, have two grown children, and one grand baby, Tim was born and raised just a few miles away from our Homestead and Tammy was born and raised in rural Oklahoma. We both have fond memories of our Country upbringing! We both come from very strong Christian Homes where there was no question about priorities; God first, then Family and finally Career. We were both very close to our Grandparents. Memories of milking the cow, hauling hay, crappie fishing, butchering hogs, shucking corn, breaking green beans, picking black berries and making sauerkraut seem like only yesterday. This is no doubt why we have so much love and interest in the past. After High School we both attended college & had long and successful careers in the Education field before retiring a couple years ago.
After retirement from public education, we knew we wanted to continue to work and challenge ourselves. Hospitality and serving others has always been something that we both enjoy very much. Cooking for company has a way of taking us back to our Granny's house. Sunday afternoons were big meals with some of the best Home Style cooking you can imagine. The food wasn’t fancy…but it was the Best! Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Crowder Peas, Asparagus, Mac n Cheese, Homemade Rolls, Peach Cobbler or Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream! But, the best part of all was just Visiting around the table! So, this is the simple life that we want to offer folks. Our “Rusted Barn” is a throwback to years gone-by with Rustic Decor from top to bottom! Our “Homestyle Food” is just like Granny's. We would love to share some of our simple, wonderful life with you and your Family! Our promise is to treat you like Family and our Goal is to take you back to a time in the not so distant past. A time that you may remember fondly as well, so that you want to come visit us time and time again!

Why they chose this property
Tim grew up in this area and Tammy joined him over 30 years ago when they got married. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the United States where people are kind and a little "old fashioned"! We love being close to the lake and nature where we can fish & hunt. We love hearing tree frogs at night and it being dark enough outside where we can see the stars!
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is a throwback to the "old days!" It is uniquely decorated with antiques that either been passed down to us from our family or items we have collected. One of the best amenities we offer is our food! When you want to be in a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of life, you often sacrifice the convenience of having restaurants and fast food nearby. We have solved that problem! We offer breakfast, boxed lunches, and supper for a cheaper price than you can get eating out, not to mention the fact that it is all homemade and tastes much better! If you don't want to, you do not ever have to leave the property! You can "hole" up for the weekend and we will take care of you and your family! The other thing that is unique to us is that we greet you when you arrive. We introduce ourselves, show you around the property, how things work, where things are stored & answer questions you may have. We also provide you with fresh homemade cookies and cold water!
