About this property
Comfortable Spacious Victorian in Central Bar Harbor, 4 bedroom 2 bath
Ledgelawn Cottage, a nineteenth century home on Bar Harbor's historic Ledgelawn Avenue, is steps from all the attractions of downtown and a few minutes from Acadia National Park. Stroll to the village green, fine restaurants and quaint specialty shops, theaters, the Abbe Museum, Shore Path, free Island Explorer bus, tennis courts, skateboard park, playground, and Sunday farmer's market. Two park entrances are a few minutes' drive away. We comfortably accommodate up to eight guests in this welcoming spacious home, decorated with a blend of new and antique furnishings. The house offers four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office, and numerous indoor and outdoor spaces for gathering with friends and family.
Enter the house through the large enclosed front porch with ample seating, the perfect spot to relax and plan the day's adventures. Once inside the central entrance hall, you will see the spacious living room to the left, with ample seating and television. To the right is the reading room, with local maps and travel guides, and shelves of books for children and adults. Beyond the reading room is the sun-filled dining room with seating for eight, and games and puzzles in the corner china cabinet.
Across the hall from the dining room is the large, fully stocked kitchen blending antique charm with modern amenities. Every effort ha been made to ensure that guests have all they need to prepare meals for both indoor and outdoor dining. Spices and condiments, paper goods, foils and wraps, trash bags, sponges, dish and hand soap, and of course lobster pots, are all provided.
The first floor provides a powder room, and along a sunny hallway there is a laundry room with washer and dryer, laundry detergent, ironing board and iron. There is a separate shower room with a large walk-in shower, shelves holding fluffy towels, soap and hair dryer.
A t the rear of the house, a few steps lead down to the charming patio room. Surrounded by antique glass windows and featuring a brick floor, this large space has comfortable outdoor furniture for relaxing, as well as a table with dining chairs and a cooling ceiling paddle fan. Just outside the back door is the gas grill, and two picnic tables are placed in the shade across the big back yard.
The second floor has four spacious comfortable bedrooms with a range of bed sizes. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed. There is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a room with a double brass four-poster, and a room with two twin beds. A pack-and-play and a wooden toddler bed are also provided. In addition to the bedrooms, there is an office with two built-in desks. High speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
A skylit full bath with shower tub, towels, hairdryer and soap completes the second floor.
Ledgelawn Cottage is a non-smoking, no pet vacation home. Dogs cannot be considered under any circumstances, regardless of breed, due to severe family allergies. We welcome up to eight staying guests, with a maximum of twelve people on the property at any time. Our driveway can hold up to two vehicles. Bar Harbor rental permit number 1321
