About this property
Beautiful 6-bedroom lake front summer house in charming Charlotte
Your Charlotte adventure begins at this fabulous 6-bedroom house. Recently listed for the first time in many years. Located on Thompson’s Point, a 1.5-mile-long peninsula on Lake Champlain with 360 acres and 100 lakefront summer homes. The property has 1 king bed, 3 queen beds, and 2 bunk beds (main house and guest cottage) and is perfect for a multigenerational family gathering. The property is unique with two private shorelines - with Adirondack Mountain views across Lake Champlain to the west, and the Vermont Green Mountains from the east facing waterfront. Fully equipped gourmet kitchen with Wolf Range, double dish washers, outdoor grilling station, badminton court, lakeside fire pit with custom-built pizza oven and tree house - providing alternative sleeping or leisure space for the kids, with electricity and smart TV. Four separate patios - at the front and back of the house and by the lake.
Private lakefront includes floating dock system with deep water swimming and boat access, offshore swim float, and various watercraft, and a separate secluded reading deck perched over the lake's edge. A private mooring (50 feet from shore in 25' water depth) for a renter's power craft or sailboat can be arranged on request at no additional charge. Explore the 100-mile reach of the historic Lake Champlain that flows into Canada 50 miles to the north and links to the intercoastal waterway system at the Hudson River Valley to the south. Discover the rich history of this region which was the birthplace of the U.S. Navy and the site of historic British/America sea battle in both the Revolution and the War of 1812. The house has a display model of the US Eagle which was constructed in Vergennes Vt in 1814 and fought victoriously in the battle of Plattsburgh - the culminating event of the War of 1812.
Property is easily accessed from the greater Burlington area, 30 minutes away and across miles of pristine Vermont farmland. Enjoy the downtown Burlington pedestrian mall and great restaurants in this smallest US city that is also the largest city in its state. Charlotte borders historic Shelburne Vermont, site of the iconic Shelburne Farms and Museum. The Charlotte/Essex NY car ferry is 10 minutes away for an easy day excursion to the Adirondacks (90-minute drive to Lake Placid from Essex, NY) or drive 1 hour east to the Stowe Vermont playground.
Club rights can be arranged for tennis, pickleball, ping-pong and bocce ball (10-minute walk from the house; $80 surcharge per week).
Book now and enjoy everything this house has to offer. Limited window in August for a one to two week stay.
