About this property

New Build in the Champlain Valley,Adirondack Views, Otter Creek & Total Serenity

Welcome to The Fieldhouse — Nestled on the edge of Vergennes, our 2025-built home is perfect for groups. Just 15 minutes from Middlebury and Lake Champlain, 20 to Shelburne, 40 to Burlington, and 45 to skiing at Middlebury Snow Bowl. Set beside Otter Creek with Adirondack views and steps from Buck and Snake Mountains, it offers spacious, modern comfort in Vermont’s countryside, close to hiking, Lake Champlain, and charming towns.

The space
Situated along the scenic Otter Creek, just 1.5 miles from the vibrant small city of Vergennes, The Fieldhouse offers a peaceful setting with sweeping views of the Adirondack Mountains, Snake Mountain, and Buck Mountain. Built in 2025, the home sits in an open field, surrounded by natural beauty. The expansive lawn is perfect for lawn games in summer or snowball fights in winter, while the northern deck provides a sunny retreat for reading, dining, or simply watching the sun set behind the mountains.

-Guest Access-

Guests have full access to the home and property, except for the unfinished basement, which contains utilities and storage.

You’re welcome to enjoy walks along the driveway, down the path to Otter Creek (not always mowed & can be wet), and in the open pasture.

Please be respectful of our neighbors, their dogs, and nearby cultivated fields. Be aware that natural terrain can be uneven and may present hazards—explore at your own risk and use caution.

If you need anything during your stay, please message us through the VRBO app. We’re happy to help make your stay as comfortable as possible.

For emergencies, dial 911 immediately.

-Other Things to Note-

Please drive slowly on the property — under 15 mph.

Use caution when opening doors on windy days.

Respect our neighbors, their dogs, and their privacy.

If you have questions, feel free to text or message us.

The house is new, so issues are unlikely, but if anything isn’t working properly, let us know right away so we can address it.

We don’t recommend swimming in Otter Creek.

A charcoal grill and utensils are available outside — just pick up charcoal from Aubuchon Hardware or Shaw’s, both 5 minutes away by car.

A fire pit is available for seasonal use (May-November). Firewood is available for sale at Aubuchon Hardware. Important: please read instructions listed on fridge prior to use!

During snowy weather, the road will be plowed and walkways shoveled. Because the house sits in an open field, drifting snow is possible. A snow shovel is available (outside or in the entryway closet), along with a bucket of sand/salt and a scoop to improve traction. Please use caution on snowy or icy surfaces — access and use are at your own risk. The house is located down a long gravel driveway. We highly recommend having snow tires and/ or all wheel drive if staying during snow season.

Smoke detectors are in every room. There are also carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers (side door closet and under the kitchen sink), and a first aid kit (laundry room).

My husband and I discovered this property and were immediately captivated by its natural beauty — the sweeping mountain views, the open fields, the quiet along Otter Creek. We knew we had to build something special here, and The Fieldhouse is truly our little slice of heaven.
We love Vermont for everything it offers in every direction: the working farms and countryside that make this place feel timeless, world-class hiking and snow sports, and incredible water sports and boating on Lake Champlain just minutes away. But what we treasure most is how dramatically and beautifully the seasons change here. Spring brings the fields back to life, summer glows golden, fall sets the mountains on fire with color, and winter turns everything into a quiet, snowy wonderland.
Every season at this property has its own magic — and we built this home to help guests slow down, breathe deep, and soak all of it in.
We love being hosts because we want others to experience the calm and joy this place brings us every time we're here. We hope it does the same for you.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this corner of Vermont's Champlain Valley for its rare combination of wide-open beauty and genuine small-town life. Vergennes — just 1.5 miles away — is Vermont's smallest city and one of its most charming, with a walkable downtown full of great restaurants, a local brewery, indie shops, and a falls-side park that feels like a secret. It has real character without the tourist crowds.
The surrounding landscape is what drew us here first, though. The Champlain Valley opens up in a way that's unlike most of Vermont — big sky, long views, and that unmistakable sight line to the Adirondacks across the lake. You're in the heart of some of the best cycling, hiking, and farm-stand country in the state, with the famous Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area nearby for birding and the Champlain Bikeway right at your doorstep.
Middlebury is just 15 minutes south — a lively college town with excellent dining, the Middlebury College Museum of Art, and easy access to the Green Mountain trails. Burlington is about 45 minutes north when you want a city fix.
But honestly? Most guests tell us they didn't expect to spend so much time just here — on the deck, watching the light change on the mountains, completely unwilling to leave.
