About the host
Hosted by Cheryl
Born and raised in the Portland area, then moving away for our careers in public service and raising a family, we consider the Oregon Coast home away from home. We visit often to visit our parents, who have made Coos Bay their home for decades. We take family vacations to the Oregon Coast ourselves and enjoy all the incredible things the area has to offer. We love to hike, golf, take scenic drives, play in the sand at the amazing beaches, ride quads, kayak with Grandma & Grandpa, clamming and crabbing, boating and fishing on the local lakes and the Umpqua. We love Sunset Bay, the dunes, and Golden and Silver Falls.
The Oregon Coast is a very special place to us, where many fond memories with family have been made. We are excited to share our special home Whispering Pines with you!

Why they chose this property
Welcome to the Southern Oregon Adventure Coast, where the land meets the bay, the lakes and sea, among majestic coastal sand dunes. A recreational paradise! Bring your own boat, kayaks, fishing poles or ATV/UTVs to hit the sand on the untamed dunes and experience the lakes, streams and rivers that converge here. Visit the nearby marina for boat rentals or Spinreel Dune Rentals & Tours to hit the sand and winding trails to the ocean!
Nearby lake, river and stream fishing, boating, hiking, clam digging, crabbing, surfing, and riding ATV’s are just a few ways to enjoy the outdoors here. ATV dune access right from this property! Rental crab rings are available at many RV parks, other lodging facilities, and tackle and marine supply stores. Minutes to boat rentals, kayak and boat launches, restaurants, gas station and grocery store. Enjoy adventures up and down the coast, the dunes, lakes, rivers and pristine beaches. Explore everything the southern Oregon coast offers from this convenient location in the town of Lakeside.
Tiny Pines is a convenient few minutes off Hwy 101 and less than a one-mile walk (or drive) to McKay’s Market grocery store and some of Lakeside's best eateries. Lakeside is a small vacation and retirement community destination with a McKay’s Market grocery store, Dollar General, a liquor store, cafes, local tavern pubs, hardware store and a post office.
Winchester Bay, a small port village at the Pacific Ocean end of the Umpqua River, is to the North (12 minutes). North Bend and Coos Bay, the larger towns along the Oregon Coast, with shops, historic places, casinos, farmers and artisan markets, and entertainment are to the South (20 minutes). Shore Acres State Park, Sunset Bay and the Cape Arago Beach Loop, featuring stunning views and hikes on the coastline and seals and sea lions on the Oregon Coast is about 40 minutes away.

What makes this property unique
Generally speaking, we have a long driveway, as shown in the photos. There is room for ATVs UTVs SXS and most trailers within our private gravel parking area. The property is located at the end of the street on a cul-de-sac. There is no street parking. Trailers must be backed in or backed out and there is no room to turn vehicles around on the property. There is a utility pole on the street as well. There is a full hookup RV site (RV2, see photos) available for an additional fee, where you can park and hook up your RV for an additional charge (sewer, water, and electric hookups provided at $45 per night). The RV site can accommodate max one 35 foot RV.
No tent camping is allowed on the property. Let us know at the time of booking to reserve the RV site, and we can provide the combination to the locks. Pets are NOT allowed inside the tiny house at any time. Dogs may remain in RV when an RV site is reserved and must otherwise be leashed at all times.
Lakeside is the only city on the Oregon Coast with city-wide dune access! From this property, you can ride your ATV directly to the ATV route (to the dunes!) or into the town of Lakeside! The map is shown in our photos. Check in, unload your toys and gear and ride to Lakeside's restaurants, friendly coffee stops, marina and grocery store. Grab a snack, grab a coffee - then zoom off to the dunes!
When in town, slow down…and make sure you review the regulations to avoid fines. We are 2.5 miles from Spinreel Dune Access. More information can be found on the map in the photos or at the City of Lakeside website where you can also find a map and the rules.
It is very important when riding through the neighborhood, please go slow and be respectful of neighbors and mindful of the noise. QUIET HOURS at Whispering Pines is 10pm to 7am. Let us know if you will be bringing ATV/UTVs and we will send you more tips. In addition, you must follow all City Requirements & Regulations.
