This charming historical farmhouse with gorgeous waterfront and side views is located at the end of a beautiful ocean bay in Addison Maine. Built by a sea captain in the early 1800's, it served as the village's first post office, a maternity ward for midwives and a vacation home for many guests maintaining the same energizing warmth and hospitality it offered many years ago. Relax on the large front porch with your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine and watch the birds and seals, sometimes otters, deer, mink and moose! Absorb positive energy from the large tides that constantly change the view for you. Walk or bicycle to Crowley Island, a natural bird preserve and don't forget your camera, the area beaches are just minutes away and connect to trails with breathtaking views. It offers a charming dining and living room, eat in kitchen complete , a cozy library full of books including a children's section, board games, puzzles (a Maine favorite) and over 100 DVDs for a relaxing movie night. Tourist pamphlets and local restaurant menus are kept on premises to help you plan your days and nights. Perfect downEast vaca spot

Our stay reminded us of how lucky we were to grow up in that area. We were there for a family wedding and all worked out perfectly. Liz was very responsive whenever I sent a question along. Would highly recommend!

Perfect vacation

Loved the beautiful old home, loved the location! By far the best vacation we have had as a family. Loved that the home came well stocked with any thing we could have needed, and thoroughly enjoyed the bikes and kayaks provided. My husband and I are already looking at dates for next summer to book this home again.

Nothing short of amazing!!

This house was so comfortable and fit are every need!! We loved being able to use the bikes and kayaks, which we did every day! The furnishings and nautical theme were great!! Wonderful front porch! Loved the different living spaces and kitchen! Wish we could go back every year!!

Bold coast sea captains house

Wonderful water views. Lovely breezes. Very comfortable nicely laid out home, fully stocked. If you want cotton sheets bring your own and make sure you bring mosquito spray!

Beautiful as always

This was our third time staying at the farmhouse, and we love returning to this treasure each year! Our kids love the library full of children's books and games, and we love the peace and natural beauty of the setting. The community people are always so friendly, and the homeowner is wonderful and really cares about your stay. We can't wait to return again!

Idyllic location with awesome family options

Easy to find and great tips on how to enjoy the place (like kayak at high tide to avoid mud!) We really loved it here and wish we had stayed longer. Kids had a blast playing bocce, chess and kayaking. Loved having tons of movies to choose from! Bring bug spray so you can enjoy the outdoor options!

Second year back

Great property with a fantastic and communicative owner. Wonderfully equipped kitchen and a nice little grocery 3 minutes away makes it easy to cook in, especially considering how few dining options are nearby (a feature, not a demerit). I never return more relaxed from a vacation than when we return from this property.

Beautiful front porch view of the bay

This is a lovely home with lots of character. It boasts an engaging view of the tidal changes from the front porch. A seal played in the bay most days of our trip. It's a serene and relaxing place to vacation. The host left a Things to List of local hikes and beaches which we would not have known about otherwise. The home was well stocked and had plenty of room. Great trip!

Another great week in Addison.

Another great week in Addison The house is a treasure and as well stocked as any VRBO exchange that I have seen.. The yard is large enough to accommodate croquet, bocci, and that other game in the garage. Sit on the porch and watch the tides do their thing. An outstanding week!

what an amazing vacation

We absolutely loved our one month stay at Liz's property, right on the ocean - it was our first visit downeast and certainly will not be our last. Liz was responsive with our questions and we enjoyed the house, the canoe, evenings by the firepit, walking along the dirt road to Crowley Island, the several breathtaking nearby hikes, local seafood, day trips to Acadia, and much more! We hope to return again someday, and thanks so much for everything Liz!! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention - fast, reliable wifi and great AT&T cell service! :)

The perfect Maine getaway!

What can be said other than this place is amazing! Located on a quite road with incredible views and a short walk or bike ride from Crowley Island. Steam your lobsters and sit out on one of many picnic tables to enjoy you meal. Watch the tides roll in and out . Kayak and canoe on calm water from the private dock. This house has old world character with modern conveniences. We love it here and will be back again! Elizabeth the property owner was always quick to respond to questions and was the most thorough VRBO owner I've ever dealt with! Highly recommeded!!!

What a peaceful spot!

This lovely home is in wonderful, peaceful, waterfront spot. It has all the amenities and then some! Liz is an awesome person and is always available for any questions. The bikes, canoe and kayaks made our stay even better! Every day, we saw 4 seals when the tide was coming in. We spent two days at nearby Sandy River Beach in Jonesport, which our 2 and 4 year olds loved. Many unique rocks can be found there when the tide is going out. We highly recommend this property and hope to be back again! Thank you so much, Liz!

A Jonesport Jewel

This property is everything you could ever want in a vacation property. "Fully furnished," as a descriptor, would undersell how complete it is. One can just show up and have everything needed to cook, recreate, relax, make all sorts of coffee, watch movies, and more. The property itself is beautiful, inside and out. One can walk across the street and sit for hours, making friends with seals, eagles, birds, and foxes. Inside, the house has many beautiful details and it's a great place to relax in the evening. Lastly, the owner is wonderful and always available for advice or questions.

Great family time - stayed there for son's wedding

My son recently got married on the beach at Great Wass Island. My husband and I, daughter and son-in-law and two grandsons (aged 3 and 5 1/2) stayed at this wonderful house. Everything was as described. The boys had a great time with the games, puzzles, and books. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed to have a couple of meals at home. Beds were comfortable and it was soooo quiet at night! Liz was a real pleasure to deal with and gave us lots of great pointers about the area. A quiet retreat

Elizabeth takes such pride in her property. We were greeted with a call from Elizabeth on the final miles to the quiet retreat from the world’s noise. Every last detail was covered. Approaching the property was a step back in time to a more simpler life. Everything is on the property. We especially enjoyed observing wild life in its natural environment. As we kayaked the bay we were surrounded by seals and birds of prey, happily showing off their catch. If you’re looking for a place that’s peaceful, clean, spacious and charming with easy access to nature, then this is it!!

Sitting on a rock at the bay.

We had a wonderful vacation at this property. The house accommodated our party perfectly and had everything we needed. Books, games, movies you name it they had it. The outside activities provided were just as impressive. Bikes, kayaks, and canoes were included at the house and we used them often. We all enjoyed both exploring and relaxing on the rocks at the bay. Bird watching became one of our favorite things to do and we even started to identify the different bird calls. :) Elizabeth was so kind and resourceful throughout our stay. This was the most relaxing vacation for all of us and has left us with lasting memories of fun.

Peaceful Getaway

Before our stay Elizabeth called me and told me everything about the house and the area. She told me about many points of interests that the kids would enjoy and that we wouldn’t have known about without her. We visited all of them and loved them all! The house was beautiful and the area was so quiet and peaceful. We spent most of our time on the front porch or playing on the rocks across the street. We used the kayaks in the evenings and the kids swam right off the rocks. We loved watching the thousands of fish in the morning and seeing the seals come up. The house had everything we could possibly need and so much more. We truly felt like we were at home. This was the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken and we can’t wait to go back!

Amazing place!

I stayed here for a week with my brother and we had a fabulous time! If I could give 6 stars for location and communication with owner, I would. It was such an awesome place, being at the end of the cove and looking out at all the wildlife activity and the changing tides. It is so quiet and peaceful also. We spent a lot of time outside, photographing the eagles, osprey, and seals that frequent the area, as well as just appreciating the beauty of changing tides and light. Elizabeth is truly a Super host, it is clear that she really wants you to enjoy your time here. This place is incredibly well stocked, The house is old, but in a charming way. The stairs are steep, but we got used to it pretty quickly. We loved the artwork in the home, it was just perfect for the setting. We also loved that this area is so much quieter than around Acadia, but also beautiful. We would not hesitate to come back!
