Big Chetac Lake is a phenomenal 2400-acre fishing lake located in Sawyer County. It has a maximum depth of 26 feet. This lake is known for excellent fishing with plenty of bluegill, large-mouth bass, northern pike, small-mouth bass, and walleye. You can fish right from the dock or even ice fish in the winter. Big Chetac Lake has plenty of room for all kinds of water sports: swimming, water-skiing, sailing, pontooning, canoeing, paddleboats, kayaks or wave runners.
Rent our pontoon for an additional fee, bring your own boat, or rent one nearby and use the public landing and secure to our dock. Enjoy boating and waterskiing on this six-mile lake and venture over to connected Birch Lake if you desire. Lake clarity can vary depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
This lake home is close to recreational trails for ATV, snowmobiling, biking and hiking. The Tuscobia Trail is the main off road/ATV trail. It runs about 65 miles and is very well marked. Additionally, The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a thousand-mile footpath entirely within Wisconsin and is nearby to hike some of the state's most beautiful natural areas. For biking, the Chequamegon National Forest offers miles and miles of trails.
In the winter, when the snow flies and the lake freezes over, you will find plenty of new adventures! Fabulous snowmobiling can be found on the hundreds of miles of local trails. These trails are part of the largest network of snowmobiling trails in the Midwest.
If cross country skiing is your thing, the American Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Race occurs every year in nearby Cable, WI. Or, you can bring your own cross-country skis and go out across the lake. If you're looking for cross country trails, then try Nordic Woods, Beaver Brook, Ice Age Trail, or the famed Birkebeiner Trail.
There are MANY options for bars, restaurants, and shopping all nearby.
