The home was beautiful and very well stocked. It had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, along with thoughtful touches like extra towels and a cozy fireplace. Our entire family really loved the space and it is classic tahoe cabin vibes. The only other thing worth noting is the private beach and pier. It is quite a distance from the house and while it is closed in winter, we couldn't find it or figure out where it could be located. Just a note if you are going, but we hope to return in summer to check it out!!!
This is our favorite place to stay in Tahoe. Check in and out is so easy and the property is so clean and well equipped. A nice outdoor space for kids and dogs.
Everything was as outlined on the description. Lots of activities with the rental and close to anything else you might want to do. Highly recommend this listing.
Every single thing about this property is amazing. Beds were comfy! Place is clean and kitchen is very well equipped (we cooked gourmet meals for 10 people for a week and had no issues!) So many little touches that make this place top notch. We will be back for sure! Can’t beat it!
This property was really great. We really appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and other items available for guest use like beach towels and chairs and many other things throughout the house. The detailed instructions and information left by the host were helpful, and the host was very communicative and fast to respond to any concerns. The house and property were beautiful and relaxing to spend time in, and felt relatively secluded while also being conveniently located. We would definitely look to return to this house for future Tahoe trips.
Great place to stay in the Tahoe area. Very clean. Well stock kitchen. Spacious rooms with three full bathrooms and bedrooms. Plenty of room for family gatherings. Would stay again.
We loved our stay here. Beautiful updated, fully stocked kitchen, cozy living room area, great dining table for 8, comfortable beds & nice bathrooms. Hot tub on the deck was fabulous. Beautiful view through large windows. Highly recommend this home.
We had a great time at the property! The location was amazing, with great access to snowshoeing across the street. The home was cozy, with a well stocked kitchen. The internet was very fast, and it was a really convenient location to stay with dogs. The host was very responsive and extremely accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!
This property is beautiful, well maintained and perfect for a family. We enjoyed everything about this home. It is well stocked with the essentials for cooking meals. Everything is organized and user friendly.
We liked our stay at this home. Easy to communicate with the owner and it had everything we needed. Some smell of cigarettes throughout the upstairs bedrooms.

We have never permitted smoking in our house. We stayed at the house ourselves immediately before this guest. The carpets were cleaned before our arrival and there was no smell of smoke when we left. This review was from a guest whose deposit was charged for damage by her dog,
Our stay at Richard's property was excellent! We had a group of 8 adults and our stay was exceptionally comfortable. The hot tub was a huge perk and the kitchen was plush with prep space, cooking surfaces, and kitchen tools. It made cooking for our group fun and easy to work in. Would love to stay here again. Highly recommend!
This property was exactly as listed. This is a well-maintained home with all the amenities as advertised. Access to the HOA beach with paddle boards and a kayak was a definite plus, especially during the holiday week. Coffee on the deck in the morning was peaceful in this very quiet neighborhood. Also, another plus was access to a variety hiking trails right outside the front door. We would definitely stay here again!
My family and group of friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very beautiful home. The house is well appointed and in a great location, with easy access to Tahoe City and skiing. The house is very comfortable and well cared for. IT has everything you could need and communication with the owner is excellent should anything come up! I would love to stay again one day and would recommend this home to friends. Thank you again for your hospitality, we had a wonderful time.
This is our second visit to this property, and we plan to return. Everything from the comfortable beds to the gourmet kitchen to the spacious deck and yard is well designed and inviting. Lots of room for adults to sit back and relax, and it’s safe for little kids. The location is very convenient to the lake and groceries. Richard is readily available and responsive to questions.
The house was as represented. We’ve rented quite a few houses and this house was among the best. The kitchen had all the provisions and supplies we needed and everything was in good condition. Given the historic amount of snow/blizzard during our stay, we spent a lot more time in the house than we expected. We were very happy and comfortable here. The snow plowing required nearly every morning was excellent too.
A lovely home that accommodates 7 adults and 3 children very well. Kitchen is well stocked and love that the knives are sharp. The bear picture over the fireplace is amazing.
Access to the HOA beach was a great addition (by car). Detailed notebook was thorough as to the house amenities and activities in the area.

About the host
Hosted by Richard Neubauer
Our family lives in San Diego and in nearby Truckee. We've stayed at many rental condos and houses while skiing, boating and travelling. Mostly, we've been disappointed. We've furnished and outfitted this house to meet our own demanding expectations. We spend a lot of time here, so we maintain it to our high standards.
Why they chose this property
Carnelian Bay is among the most convenient places on the lake, whether you fly into Reno (1 hour 15 minutes) or drive up from San Francisco (3 hours 30 minutes). The house is in a quiet location away from the busy, noisy highway around the lake but when you're ready to go out for dinner or cocktails, there are many fine choices nearby. Grocery stores and other shops are ten minutes away. Before purchasing this home we vacationed at Tahoe for years, staying at the Tahoe Keys in South Lake Tahoe, Incline Village in Nevada, Alpine Meadows on the Truckee River, and Homewood on the West Shore. This feels the best to us. The across-the-street access to the hiking trails is a huge benefit in all seasons.
What makes this property unique
Completely refurbished in 2021 with high-end furniture and new gas fireplace. Large corner lot, heavily wooded with a big front yard. Located on a private road in a private community, traffic is very light and children can safely play in the yard while you sit and watch from the deck. In late spring and early summer you'll hear the nearby creek running down to the lake. You can walk the quiet, winding streets or hike in the adjacent National Forest land. There is no retail or commercial activity in this upscale 'Old Tahoe' neighborhood.
