StoneHaven : Adirondack Cottage- Pet Friendly, Children, & Eco-friendly
Tucked in among the large boulders and mature trees, this secluded property is only a 5 minute walk to its deeded access on West Caroga Lake with dock and designated boat slip (up to 21') and abuts over 60,000 undeveloped acres of state land known as the Ferris Lake Wild Forest Preserve. The preserve offers endless miles of trails that wind through some of the most beautiful terrain imaginable. Completed in early 2013, StoneHaven was custom designed and built by it's owners to incorporate the luxury of modern and efficient technology into a rustic package. This concept allows visitors to experience the more premium comforts of a home while the décor and setting provide a true Adirondack “camp” experience. An open floor plan allows an opportunity to engage in conversation, entertain and keep an eye on children all from any vantage point on the first floor. Complement your meals in the dining area with a gaze out the large picture window which affords an uninterrupted view of nature at its finest. Be sure to appreciate the old world craftsmanship of the custom made kitchen cabinetry built in primitive design and utilizing traditional construction methods. Also take note that the walls and ceiling on the first floor as well as most of the trim throughout the house are comprised of knotty pine that was reclaimed and milled locally from the trees that were harvested from the property prior to construction. Don’t be too surprised to find your morning coffee or evening drink interrupted by a visit from one or more members of our local wildlife community which may include: fox, deer, turkey, chipmunk, possum, rabbit, fisher, mink, raccoon, black bear, bobcat, and many others. From our family to yours...We sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit here at StoneHaven! Please- relax, unwind and be happy!

Wonder time with family and friends at the StoneHaven Camp. Very much recommended it for an Adirondack getaway. We were very comfortable; Everything was in good working order. Very quiet and only a short walk to the lake.
The house was beautiful and very clean. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and then some!! We went for quiet time and relaxing and that's what we got. We will definitely return in the future.

Lovely cabin close to family!. Beautiful location. Adorable kitchen. Love all the decor and large windows. Thermostat wasn’t working upstairs, but the provided blankets were very warm. I’m allergic to most laundry detergent so we always bring our own bedding/pillowcases/towels etc, but it was great to have the backup blankets to use over our comforter. We didn’t find body towels, but we brought ours anyway. Do bring your own towels and tissue box. Overall a wonderful stay and look forward to our next visit. :)
We had an absolutely perfect stay here at the cottage. The living room, kitchen and dining areas were just the right size for our family and Boxer. The covered porch was extremely comfortable for outdoor reading, but the best part of the trip was spending evenings by the huge fire pit in the backyard. It's ideal for making s'mores and roasting hot dogs. It's also only a 3 minute walk down the wooded road to the shared dock area which has incredible lake views, especially at sunset.
We stayed at this house because of its proximity to the main snowmobile trail in the area. We rode from there all day around the surrounding areas for lunch and dinner both days.
We stayed here during spring break to get away from our day to day life. We enjoyed our stay & especially liked the extra touches at the cabin such as the board games/card games stocked. The lake was beautiful as well.
My husband, friends, and I came here for my Birthday. It was a perfect trip from frolicking in the woods, to fishing on the dock, and just being away from reality.
Beautiful cabin in the woods in the Caroga Lake area. Love the peaceful setting and hearing birds di
Stonehaven is a heavenly getaway. It’s so quiet and yet has everything you need during your stay in Caroga. Everyone in the area is super friendly. Trent made this stay super easy and I recommend this beautiful cabin to everyone needing some time in the woods.

First visit
After having to make our own beds, buy towels to use, we spent most of our time at a friend’s camp.

Nancy. Thank you...We always appreciate feedback. Our policies are clearly explained in our listing as well as in the 7 page Welcome Document that was sent to you upon your confirmed reservation. We have found that our guests prefer fresh clean linens folded and ready to be placed on each bed that is to be used. There is no way to know that linens on a made bed were actually laundered. We try to provide an economical alternative for those who wish to enjoy the area while staying in a 3 bedroom/2 bath home with a private yard and lake access as opposed to a hotel room.
we were in town for a couple of shows in Saratoga so we did not have a ton of time at property. But the time we did get to spend there was very nice and we would for sure return
My family and I stayed at the cabin to visit friends at Caroga Lake. Lots of room for my husband and I and our 6 kids. Well stocked kitchen, the kids appreciated the toys. Great location close to trails and the lake. We missed that towels were not provided in the listing - it is in there but only after opening one of the links. Wish it was written right next to information about linens. Once I noticed we bought towels on the way in, no issues. Perfect place for what we were looking for.
Trent and Patty Atkinson purchased a vacation home in Caroga Lake in the summer of 2007 which would come to be lovingly referred to as 'CrookedWood'. In 2010, they received confirmation that Patty was pregnant with their first child. Although they simply adored their little slice of Adirondack heaven, Trent had determined that the costs associated with renovating CrookedWood to make it 'kid compliant' were not feasible. Coincidentally, at that exact same time their neighbor had made an offer to sell a portion of his property located directly adjacent to them. And thus the idea of 'StoneHaven' was born. CrookedWood was subsequently sold to family friends and Trent began the design and construction of a new slightly larger, more kid friendly, and much more energy-efficient home. Every aspect of the home was carefully planned out in order to maximize use while minimizing size. Also, consideration of environmental impact, both short-term and long-term, had a major influence on every detail of the design. On January 1 of 2013 they officially proclaimed 'construction complete'. StoneHaven is now the second home of the Atkinson Family...Trent, Patty, Harper, Hudson and their dog, Jack.
