About this property

1930s Cape Cod Bungalow at Firmstone Manor

A beautifully renovated one-bedroom bungalow on the historic Firmstone Manor estate, originally part of the 1930s-era Lucy Selena motel that once welcomed travelers along this stretch of road. Today it offers all the modern conveniences while keeping its mid-century character — a quiet, intimate retreat ideal for couples or solo travelers looking to slow down.

Inside, the single-level cottage features one bedroom with a king-size bed, a bathroom with a tiled walk-in shower, and a charming open-concept great room with comfortable seating, a 4K streaming TV, and a high-top dining table for two. The full kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and Keurig coffee maker — so your first cup is ready before the rest of the world wakes up. Central A/C, heat, and high-speed Wi-Fi keep things comfortable year-round, and 4K streaming TVs in both the great room and bedroom work with your Roku guest account.

Step outside and 13 acres of rolling Alleghany County countryside are yours to explore, with mountain views from the property and quiet spots to read, sip your morning coffee, or watch the sun set behind the ridgeline. Our location is something special: we sit almost exactly halfway between Clifton Forge, Lexington, and Bath County, which means you can base yourself somewhere peaceful and be at a vineyard, a national forest trailhead, or the historic Warm Springs Pools in under 30 minutes.

Please note: this cottage accommodates 2 guests maximum and is not pet-friendly.

Our stay at the Cape Cod Bungalow, while brief, was thoroughly enjoyed. It is conveniently situated right off the interstate, and is centrally located to all the sites we wanted to visit. It is ideal for an intimate getaway as it is only a one bedroom/bathroom home. We did not stay long enough to take advantage of the full kitchen, but we are very appreciative that it is available. The cleanliness of the building and grounds surrounding is top tier. And communication with the property owners was easy and thorough. Thank you Brian and Michael for your wonderful hospitality!

This freshly renovated bungalow had all the conveniences we desired. When we first arrived we where shocked by the cleanliness, beautiful decorations, and attention to detail. The cookies, bread, and refreshing beer found in the fridge made our arrival perfect, couldn't has asked for a better host. Definitely recommend anyone traveling near Clifton Forge to consider a stay at this wonderful bungalow. You will not be disappointed. We are already making plans to stay again in the very near future.

We loved our stay at this property! The directions to the location and entry into the bungalow were very clear and lock on the door was easy to use. The bungalow was immaculate, decorated beautifully, and had a well-stocked kitchen. The bed and bedding were wonderful and the the hosts left a hand-written card and cookies and cinnamon bread on the counter. There was also craft beer and yummy juices in the fridge. It was wonderful! We booked the bungalow for a weekend getaway and had a beautiful drive through the mountains to the Warm Springs Pools in Bath County. We will come back!
