Taw Caw Creek is located on the north side of Lake Marion near historic Goat Island in Summerton, South Carolina. Because the creek dates back to the time prior to the development of Lake Marion in 1942, it is virtually stump-free. Lake Marion boasts some of the best fishing in South Carolina and is home to huge catfish, bream, crappie, and record-sized striped and large-mouth bass. BIG catfish are caught regularly from our dock!
Enjoy fishing and water sports on Taw Caw Creek. Bring the boat or jet-ski. There are several convenient boat landings as well as a full service facility, Taw Caw Campground and Marina, right across the creek. For some extra fun, take a short ride down the creek and dock your boat at the Goat Island Resort Restaurant for lunch, dinner, refreshments, and live music. If you like the scenic “big water” of Lake Marion, it is only minutes away.
For a change of scenery, Taw Caw Park is just two miles away and has trails, a play structure, picnic shelters and restrooms..

The house was beautiful and had everything you could ask for, the owners were super friendly and helpful. The lake itself is astonishing and huge.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It helps other guests to know that they will have all they need while they are away from home. I was so impressed by all the adventuring you all did on the lake, visiting the locks and going out to the I-95 bridge...sounded like so much fun! Hope you will come back soon. B.
Cozy, comfortable home. Beach area was wonderful for grandchildren as well as adults. Quiet protected cove was perfect for tubing. Hope to return next year!!

Thank you for this nice review. So glad you enjoyed our home. It's a great spot for families and friends. We love that it is away from it all. And by "away" we mean AWAY! Many of our guests come back every year - which we love. We look forward to your return! B.
This house is exactly as pictured and in a very desirable area of the lake. The shoreline is easy in and out for swimming or floating around. The living area of the house is spacious and the kitchen well stocked.
Property was so nice. We loved having morning coffee on the dock So many different bird species. Quiet and peaceful.

The house has plenty of space and is well equipped.
We had a fantastic time. We were very pleased with the property after booking for a holiday week at the last minute. The house was perfect for two families and the yard and swim area were fantastic. The new dock was great for docking our boat and swimming and fishing.
Beautiful from the time I walked to when I left. Gracious host with real concern for me, and my family, that ALL things were as perfect as humanely possible. Great location on the lake with access to anything lake related; marinas, ramps, power on the dock, playground, Lakeside market and much more.
The owner Beth was an excellent host and helpful as needed.
The cottage itself was a double blessing, as in our weeks stay the first 3 days were all rain, so we spent most of the time indoors with very comfortable furniture and great TV and Wi-Fi service!
We brought our boat and kept it at the dock, lake access ramp a mile away, and it was a secure location with night flood light at the dock for extra security. Neighborhood were all upscale and friendly.
My brother and I spent a month at this house and found it to be meticulously maintained, and very well appointed with everything we could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable and the house is beautifully decorated . The neighborhood was very quiet during our stay in Nov. and we loved the lake access via the level lawn and very nice dock.. Even caught some jumbo Catfish right from the dock! The owner Beth was very kind, and communicative. Can't say enough good things about this house! We'll be back!
What a gem this place is! The house is clean and beautiful and has everything you need. Boat slip is right down the road and had a nice dock to park our pontoon. Very nice neighborhood There is a sandy beach to swim at, we fell in love with this place! Cannot wait to come back!!!
The house is very well suited for a family vacation. The beds were comfortable and having two bathrooms is a plus. The kitchen had everything we needed, the living room furniture was comfortable and the back porch was a nice place to watch the rain all week lol. The dock accommodated our 24’ bay boat. We are definitely going to stay again.
We needed to be close to Sumter, but also wanted to have a property near water. This house fit perfectly. Lovely view & pier on the water. House was cozy & comfortable.
Excellent communication with Beth, the manager. Very well maintained home; quiet location perfectly suited for sailing on Taw Caw Creek. Linens/towels included in the rental rate would be more convenient. Great stay, looking forward to return next year.
The house itself was fine but definitely the bathroom connecting the two bedrooms could use a face-lift. The toilet in that bathroom worked but you felt you had to be cautious with the handle. The outside beach area was kind of shabby, lots of debris from the trees and some garbage strewn around. It would NOT hinder us to book again to be sure!!

The problem with reviews is that there’s no way for an owner to address what has not been communicated before the comments are out there for all to see.
November is a great time to come enjoy the lake but it is difficult to enjoy the beach after a storm like the one during this stay - remnants from hurricane Eta, no less. We do end up with m some debris drifting our way because this is one of the only sandy beach areas on the creek. If I had know there was a problem with the area looking “shabby” I absolutely would’ve had our landscaper come take the debris out if I couldn’t get there myself. I would never expect guests to do that during their stay - but if they want to enjoy the sand, they would. Regarding the guest bath - it looks exactly like it does in the pictures and the toilet is new. I’ll be there this week to see what the issue is with the handle. My guess is that it’s loose - which is easy to fix.
About the host
Hosted by Owners
We purchased the Lake House on Taw Caw so we could enjoy time away as a family while also sharing our slice of heaven with others. Our aim is to provide our guests with a clean, cozy and relaxing home so families and friends can escape the daily grind of work and busy-ness. We installed wi-fi of course, but not because we needed it. We rather enjoy seeing our kids faces instead of the tops of their heads.... Nevertheless, it's there if you need it. You can always "forget" that we gave you the password while you're there.
Why they chose this property
The house is situated such that the sun rises just off to the right as you look out over the lake. The forest is protected across the lake so we know it will never be developed. The creek is wide enough right off the dock that kids can ski and tube while parents and grandparents watch from their lawn chairs. The yard is mostly shady but there is a wide slice of sunshine down by the water. There is something for everyone.
What makes this property unique
We love that the trees in the backyard are the perfect distance to accommodate our hammock - which we leave for our guests to use during their stay. The dock is the perfect place to sit and watch the sun rise with a nice cup of coffee from one of the many cups in our collection.
