About this property

Madison River at the Palisades

Just 300 feet from the Madison River, a beautiful, large custom three level log home on five acres located in the spectacular Palisades area of SW Montana. The house has private fishing access to the river famous for its blue-ribbon trout.

The home offers river and/or mountain views from every room.

When not fishing steps out the back door or enjoying Yellowstone National Park or any of the other spectacular nearby sights and activities, the sounds of the majestic river will provide you with a soothing background to an afternoon on the large deck and will lull you to sleep each night. Summertime on the Palisades is spectacular, and fall provides the added bonus of watching herds of elk as they graze the property and cross the river during the Rut.

The main floor consists of a large, vaulted living room with wood burning fireplace. The open floor plan with walk out deck moves through to a large dining room and custom kitchen. Also available is a den with barn doors and a fold out queen-sized bed adjacent to a 3/4 bath.

Upstairs is a large loft for gathering and game playing and a spacious primary suite with vaulted ceilings and gas fireplace. This bedroom offers a king sized select comfort bed, walk in closet and open bathroom area with a slate shower and jacuzzi tub.

The lower level walks out onto a fenced grass and perennial garden area. On this level you will find two master suites, one with a queen bed and and one with a king select comfort bed, each with a private bathroom and large closet. Both bedrooms have views of the Madison River. One room has a private gas fireplace.
Also available on the lower level is a family room with seating and smart tv, as well as a separate laundry room.

Outside offers a wrap-around deck with propane grill, seating and a hot tub area.

Newly installed fiber optic internet allows for seamless work-from-home opportunity.

There is plenty of parking space on the gravel drive.

Activities:

The property is located in prime fly fishing territory, with private direct fishing access to the Madison River. Put-in fishing access at Lyons Bridge, Windy Point, Palisades, McAtee, and Story Ditch are all 5-15 minutes away. The property also adjoins BLM land for added recreating and sporting opportunities. Other fishing in the general area include the Jefferson, Big Hole, Gallatin and Beaverhead Rivers. Wade, Cliff, Quake, Hebgen, Henry's and Ennis Lakes are all an easy 30 to 45 minutes away. The West entrance to Yellowstone National Park is a scenic 45 mile drive. The quaint western town of Ennis is an easy 19 mile drive to the North. Other fun and interesting destinations in the area include historic Virginia City and Nevada City as well as Big Sky (home to Lone Peak). When you need to relax, try Norris Hot Springs, serving locally grown organic food, wine and beer and live music many nights of the week. The nearby cities of Bozeman, Butte and Helena all have much to offer. Bozeman (home to Montana State University) is known for its vibrant Main Street and its fine dinosaur exhibit; Butte for the colorful and rich displays at the Mineral Museum and Helena for its gorgeous historic buildings and stunning capitol as well as the Archie Bray Center which draws aspiring and known artists year-round to its residency program.

Besides world-class fishing, the Madison River north of Ennis is known for its relaxed kayaking and tubing in the warmer months. Rentals and tours are available in Bozeman. And every summer sees rodeos and professional bull riding in most of the nearby towns.
