About this property

Majestic Harbor Views ~ Sunrise to Sunset

About this space
A private home, located in the walk-to-all neighborhood of Mission Hills, 12 minutes from the airport. Safe walking to restaurants and coffee shops. The sunroom boasts tremendous views of the harbor, airport, and cruise ships, the best place for morning coffee and happy hour sunsets. Light and breezy throughout. Smart TVs in the living room, master bedroom, and guest room. Patio dining and BBQ, plus a bonus outdoor bed for lounging. Beautiful kitchen with high-end appliances. No animals allowed.

This sophisticated home is light and breezy with very open and comfortable living spaces. The dining area has beautiful sunset and harbor views, and the sunroom will be your favorite nesting and necking space in the house. You will view soaring hawks and many other bird species from the sunroom’s “treehouse” feeling. You’ll enjoy the breezy mornings and stunning views at sunset (sometimes the views are like art). The sunroom will suffice as an indoor patio on rainy days.

Completely furnished with all the details of an inviting, cozy getaway spot. Every room has large, sunny view windows and many elegant touches. The master bedroom has a queen-size sleigh bed, a reclining chair, and a fireplace for ambiance. The 2nd bedroom has a high-quality queen bed + desk.

All beds have beautiful pillows and spreads, cozy comforters, and high-quality bedding and linens. The living room sofa is an L-shaped sectional.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, dining, and entertaining with lovely dishes, tableware, barware, and linens. Even the gourmet cook will find the necessary appliances, cookware, bakeware, and utensils for any special meal or recipe. The laundry area has a washer and dryer, cleaning and laundry supplies.

Cabinet shelves are amply stocked with herbs, spices, oils, sugar, flour, coffee, tea, and much more for rental guests to enjoy.

Outdoor patio with dining, BBQ, and twin-size day bed...great for entertaining, lounging, cocktails, and fun!

Easy on-street parking is always available in our quiet residential neighborhood.

It's best to have a car, but Uber/Lyft are also easy. Restaurants and nail salons are about a 12-minute walk away. Parking is on the street and free.

For summer, the home does have air conditioning. Guests who want AC must inform the owner, as the owner controls home temperatures via Nest. There is a fee for the Guest to control the AC thermostat as listed under "additional rules". AC is usually unnecessary in this home when guests keep blinds closed from Noon to 6 pm, except possibly in July and August. All windows, doors, and blinds must be closed so the upstairs can cool efficiently without damaging the AC (due to the sunroom view area). Guest control of AC is NOT included in the rent.

For Winter: Nest is programmed for 74 degrees/daytime and 67 degrees /nighttime. Guests can request an adjustment to temperatures as needed.

Outstanding amenities, wonderful location

I booked this property for one of my employees to stay in while she attended a conference at the convention center. She said the location was ideal -- a short hop to the convention center and close to all the sights and sounds of central San Diego. I didn't stay in the property myself, but my employee said it was clean, with great decor and wonderful views.

Lovely home away from home

Based on the pics and previous reviews we booked a one week stay. Previous reviews are spot on! We did not rent a car & were able to walk almost everywhere. My husband and I enjoyed strolling around the neighborhood and looking at the cool homes. Taxi rides were easy to obtain. The home and views (the views, wow) were just like the pics. Our stay truly was a "Lovely home away from home."

Very Nice!

Nice neighborhood, quiet , plenty of room with nice extras...movie dvds, music cd's , interesting books, the home is lovely inside with soft hues and interesting art. Enjoyed Blue Water Grill and Extraordinary Desserts , close to Marina and enjoyed the drive up Pt Loma ( beautiful views and interesting military sites ! ) Much more enjoyable than a hotel ... home away from home ! Hope you get a chance to get away from it all !

Fantastic Location, Fantastic Place.

This is the third time my family and me go to San Diego and this place is by far the best we've ever been to. It's conveniently close to everything, including the beach, downtown and even a nice park, not to mention grocery stores to supply yourself pretty much 24/7. Also, the house is fantastic with plenty of room for everyone and very home-y. I can't recommend it enough.

The BEST

This was my second time staying in this home and again it was absolutely amazing! The home as usual was beautiful, fully stocked with everything you need and more, and super comfortable and quiet. Melanie recently remodeled the kitchen - what a gem! I can't say enough about this home and it's within minutes of all the popular attractions and beaches. If you are on the fence with picking a place to stay in San Diego GET OFF OF IT! You won't be disappointed.

Great location to visit all of San Diego

We appreciated arriving to a house that felt like a home. We quickly became familiar with the areas of Mission Hills and Hillcrest which are convenient for shopping, restaurants and coffee houses. The location of the house is central to all that San Diego has to offer in a safe, family neighborhood. The 5 freeway is very close, so it makes zipping around very easy. The home is nicely decorated, clean, offered lots of storage space (closet room) and you get a choice of sitting in the sun room area to enjoy the view or outside for some great beach weather! San Diego is home to some very nice people!

Great house and lovely view

This was a lovely house for the two of us while we were visiting family in San Diego last winter. Very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed having coffee in the morning and wine in the evening in the sun room with views out over the canyon and down to the harbor. The first morning we heard the planes taking off at 6:30, but after another day they just became background noise (probably because the bed was so comfortable!). Nicely equipped kitchen; we did limited cooking but there were plenty of utensils, wine glasses, dishes, knives, pots and pans, etc. Very helpful to have a washer and dryer. The house is in a conveninet location for walking to the Mission Hills commercial area or to driving down into San Diego. Melanie was easy to work with; very responsive. We hope to stay here again on future trips to San Diego.

Great House

House was great. LOVED the sun room and the beautiful view of the harbor. Great place to take a nap or enjoy the view. House was centrally located to everything we needed. Two really nice size bedrooms, very clean, even had some fruit on the counter when we arrived. Patio out front was very nice. Quiet neighborhood. Would recommend the house.

Awesome location! Home away from home!

We can't speak highly enough of this house and how wonderful it was. Everything we needed in the home was in full supply. Every morning and evening we sat in the nook off of the dining room and enjoyed the tremendous view of the bay. The neighborhood was so quiet and peaceful. It was great for walks and looking at all of the different and gorgeous homes in the neighborhood. The bed was comfortable and we felt at home immediately. Melanie was a pleasure to deal with and we would definitely stay here again.

Family vacation

We just returned from a family vacation in San Diego. The house was a perfect place for us. The bedrooms were roomy and the living area was very inviting. We spent a lot of time in the sitting area overlooking the city. The house had all the furnishings we could possibly need. We enjoyed several of the restaurants nearby. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay.

My family with 3 kids (ages 9m, 3, & 6) stayed 6 nights at this rental in March 2015. We had a lovely stay in the house. Pros: - Well stocked house with lots of small detailed items such as beach towels/umbrella, kitchen utensils/condiments, extra bedding and towels etc. - Great location overlooking a ravine with a view of San Diego harbor in the distance. - Convenient access to highways and commercial districts (Hillcrest), and downtown. - Clean and tastefully decorate house Cons: - Unbalanced air conditioning. I’m really stretching to find a negative. One day during our stay, it was really hot and we were having friends from LA visit us. I turned on the air conditioner in the morning and in the afternoon when our friends arrived, the upstairs living area was still really hot and the downstairs bedrooms were cool/cold. But let’s be honest, it’s San Diego and the weather is usually beautiful. We had a great stay. The house was everything as advertised and more. Melanie prepared everything as she said she would. I would stay again and will recommend to my friends if they are planning to rental a vacation home in San Diego.

We have traveled to San Diego for the past 16 years and have occupied many different places both short term and long term. This house goes to the top of our list for location, comfort, and convenience to all that San Diego has to offer. Whether it was sitting on the patio absorbing the sun or lounging in the sun room while viewing the awesome sunsets, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. We enjoyed our leisurely walks to Mission Hills and Hillcrest restaurants and riding the trolley to Sunday's Farmer's Market in Hillcrest. A must for organic vegetables and fruits! Melanie was very responsive to our needs and requests, especially the sharp knives. Are we coming back? You bet'ca!!

My husband and I spent the whole month of October at Melanie's rental. The location was perfect since we were only 6 blocks from our daughter's house and it also was within walking distance to Mission Hills & Hillcrest and only a short drive to downtown San Diego. The air conditioning was very welcome since October was warmer than usual for San Diego and having the bedrooms on the lower floor helped keep them cool also. Being able to park right in front of the house was great. The outdoor area was much appreciated too. Melanie was very easy to deal with and the place was perfect for our month's stay.

Excellent place to be on Independence Day!

We were very pleased with our stay in San Diego in this well maintained and stocked house. There are a lot of nice touches from the fully stocked kitchen to the beautiful patio and sunroom. It is a centrally located base for touring the San Diego area and quick to get to all the attractions. The highlight was watching the fireworks on the 4th of July from the sunroom and being able to see 3 of the 4 barges where the fireworks were set off. The views are spectacular. Melanie was good to deal with and our deposit was returned quickly as agreed. We enjoyed touring the USS Midway, Harbor Cruise, Padres baseball game, snorkeling in La Jolla Cove and all the usual family attractions like Sea World, Zoo and Legoland. Would highly recommend this house.

Family get-a-way

I have to admit this house was much nicer than I expected and I expected a lot! It is beautifully decorated, has very nice views, and is close to most attractions. There was a recently installed patio where we loved to eat, or just relax and enjoy the outdoors.I actually enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen. I would certainly lease this house again.

We enjoyed our stay in San Diego. This 2 bedroom tree house was very clean and well furnished. Beds were very comfortable. Very quiet area and location was great for us. I would recommend this for your stay in mission hills. The only negative was the street parking. Someone was always parked in front of the house, so we needed to always park else where. Neighbors were not happy about us parking in front of their property.

Absolutely perfect rental in every way!

This property was even more beautiful than the pictures! It was perfectly maintained, extremely well stocked, and in an very convenient and safe location. It was hard to leave and we can't wait to return! (Families with young children should make sure their kids are comfortable with stairs.) Ours children loved the multiple levels and we all enjoyed the fantastic views of the bay:)

We loved this property!

This place is in Mission Hills, a single residence beautifully appointed with everything we needed for a week long stay in San Diego. It's in a quiet residential neighborhood. Parking was never a problem, we parked in front of the house everyday. The inside is spacious enough for a family of four (2 young kids). It's got beautiful views out of the bedrooms and living areas. We actually enjoyed watching the ships as well as the planes landing, noise was not an issue. The location was optimal for visiting the zoo (under ten minutes by car) downtown, sea world, and other attractions. Hillcrest with the restaurants were a short drive away. The only thing missing for us was outdoor space, though the sunroom makes up for it. Overall the place was wonderful place to stay and relax in after days of exploring San Diego.

Great views, comfortable home away from home

The property was just what we needed for our stay in San Diego. It was near enough to the highways to get where we wanted to go, near to grocery stores, and a short drive to Balboa Park and the Zoo. Our college age son liked his own room in the former garage space - he didn't care that it wasn't fancy. The fully equipped kitchen was great for fixing meals. The two main bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The only downside was no outdoor space. We are from Minnesota and with the long, cold winter, it would have been nice to sit outside in the evening and enjoy the weather. But we played games and visited instead. We could hear the airplanes landing and taking off at the airport - but it didn't disturb us. I would recommend it for anyone who is going to enjoy the many things to do in San Diego and needs a comfortable, convenient place to stay.

Why they chose this property

Located in Mission Hills, one of the best neighborhoods in San Diego...the most amazing views..and close to everything that San Diego has to offer. If you love San Diego's weather , this home gives you the best atmospheres.

What makes this property unique

Love the views...sunsets are unforgettable...I love the layout of the home with the living spaces upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs. I love the open floor plan that allows me to enjoy every living space and my home is built above a canyon -- very private! The patio entry is fully gated and private -- with outdoor dining and BBQ - feels like an outdoor dining room plus a safe place to dump the beach toys to keep sand out of the house. The outdoor bed is a sunny retreat! The house is fully stocked with spices, oils, coffee and tea for each guest. The kitchen is well stocked with all the dishes, cookware, utensils, glass ware and linens to satisfy even a gourmet cook.
