About this property
PlainLivin*walk 2 Journeyman*Pet Friendly*Downtown
Summary:
Explore Valparaiso from my historic 3 bedroom 1.5 bath home built in1910 in the heart of downtown. A 5-min walk leads to JOURNEYMAN DISTILLERY & the lively square with top eateries & shops. Ample parking on-site, steps from VU. Dunes NP & South Shore Line are just a 20-min trip. High-speed internet, Roku/smart TVs in every room, and a computer for guests to use.
The Space:
"Welcome to Plain Livin’ - my primary residence - where my partner and small child spend much of their time as well. Within our thoughtfully curated space, each bedroom boasts its own dedicated air conditioning unit for the summer months and a personal heater during the winter, ensuring that guests experience optimal temperature comfort. For those moments of relaxation, every room is outfitted with a television complemented by ROKU streaming services. Furthermore, the bathroom showcases modern elegance, having been recently renovated to the highest standards. We offer this space to guests during our travels or when it aligns with our financial planning. Please understand that our listed rate is carefully considered, ensuring it offsets the costs and inconveniences of our temporary relocation. We kindly ask for your respect towards our property and to consider this when contemplating rate negotiations. For your convenience, an access code will be provided upon booking. Laundry facilities are located in the basement. Parking is available up to the pad by the yellow shed, and additional parking is permitted in the neighboring lot during weekends."
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole house except one half of the basement which I use for storage.
The Neighborhood:
Nestled a mere stone's throw away from the Journeyman Distillery and situated opposite the Valparaiso Police Station, our location promises convenience. The heart of downtown, with its myriad of exquisite restaurants and boutique shops, is easily reachable on foot. Moreover, FLUID coffee shop and the chic Ella Jayms boutique are just a minute's walk away, while the vibrant downtown square is a brief three-minute stroll from our doorstep.
Getting Around:
This property boasts ample parking spaces for your convenience. A brief stroll immerses you amidst an array of shops, eateries, and boutiques. Should you prefer, Uber services are consistently at your beck and call. For cycling enthusiasts, the town features the Zagster bike-sharing program; the closest rack is mere minutes away, offering daily rentals at a modest fee. Furthermore, a bus station a few blocks distant provides routes to Chicago, while the South Shore Line is a concise 15-minute drive along Route 49.
Other Things to Note:
Positioned near the train tracks, you might occasionally hear the elegant rhythm of a train passing by once or twice daily. At times it can be quite long, but always short. As this is my cherished primary home, you may find some personal touches gracing each room.
Interaction with Guests:
This is my primary residence, yet when I offer it to guests—which is frequent—I ensure my absence for their comfort. Should any concerns emerge, I am readily accessible via the app or telephone in the event of an emergency. Additionally, I have the support of two esteemed co-hosts (also known has my wonderful mother and brother) who assist in overseeing the property during my travels.
