Martha's Vineyard Beachfront Cottage in Oak Bluffs but closer to Vineyard Haven

Small beachfront cottage; back deck is right on the water and the front door is on Beach Rd. where you can flag down a bus or ride or walk to Vineyard Haven (1 mile) or Oak Bluffs (2 miles). Unbelievable sunsets. Games. 3 bedrooms upstairs: The Master bedroom is a "queen-short"; other ocean side bedroom has a double bed; the roadside room has two twins. You don't even need to bring a car! If a family member can't do stairs, the couch opens up and the full bath is on the first floor. Watch parasailers and ferries and fishermen, walk up the beach to the jetty, rent bikes, explore the island. Or just stay home and read on the deck. Wifi, grill, TV. So relaxing at the house. In the family for many years and we rent it out when we are not there. There's a great Film Society less than a mile away with nightly good movies. Don't rent this house if you want modern Pottery Barn feel; it is small, old-fashioned, and simple.

Our family had an amazing vacation at this wonderful home in Oak Bluffs. The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We especially loved the casual living area, well-equipped kitchen, and relaxing outdoor area.The location was perfect!Steps to the beach, close to downtown, and the ferry, but still quiet and peaceful. We made great memories here and would definitely love to come back. Highly recommend for families!

Lovely stay!

The cottage was everything we needed. The beds were very comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. Franny was easy to contact and very responsive, friendly and polite.Just a note of caution regarding getting on Martha's Vineyard; as first timers we did not know that the ferry needed to be reserved in advance.. Fortunately, I stumbled upon that information and got a ferry that lined up with check in time. Great stay!

Great two weeks

The cottage was exactly as described. Perfect location. Beautiful to hang out and hear the waves crash and the sunset. Easy walk into town. Great new washer and dryer as well as stove. We loved it and we hope to return ❤️

Another lovely MV vacation

Amazing sunsets ! perfect setup for my daughter and disabled father can sit on the back porch and enjoy time with the family while we play on the beach and enjoy the sunshine . The host is wonderful and quick to respond . Old vineyard charm

Wonderful location

My friend and I spent a week. The weather was not the best but we still enjoyed watching the ferries, sailboats and yachts go by. The location was great and the deck was wonderful. The inside is as described and could use some TLC but it had everything we needed. Franny was a good host and communicated as needed.

Amazing stay!

We loved Franny's property! It was a perfect cottage for our family! The beach out front had the most amazing sunsets and the cove behind the house was my kiddos favorite place to play during our stay. It was a great location - close to both downtown VH and OB. The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Frannie was great with communication and made every just so easy. We would absolutely stay again! Thank you Franny!!!

Perfect location and great size for family of 4

We had a wonderful time at Franny’s cottage! We have been visiting MV every summer for 5 years so have a few properties to compare it to! Franny was wonderful to work with and always very responsive to questions. The location can’t be beat, so close to both downtown Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. And the beach backyard was heaven for our two littles. Plenty of bedrooms for us all to have our own space and love that there is a washer/dryer there to use. We will definitely be staying again! Wonderful beachfront cottage

This year was our 5th stay at this wonderful little cottage. Our week here is one of the things that everyone in our family looks forward to all year long! We had a great time (as always!) With how busy life can be, this is truly the perfect ‘escape’ for us! It’s in a perfect location, right between Vineyard Haven & Oak Bluffs so you’re minutes away from both. We love exploring new parts of the island as well as being able to unplug from much of the day to day, and just sit out on the deck, grill, play games, and enjoy our private little stretch of beach. The house is always clean and stocked with the essentials. And Franny is so nice and helpful, should anything ever be needed. Sitting out on the deck in the evening is one of the nicest sunsets we’ve seen! Thank you again for letting us share these incredible memories!

Great quiet humble cottage right on the beach

Booked with Franny nearly a year in advance. I was given a good overview of the property and what to expect. It’s a very cute cottage on the edge of Oak Bluffs near the bridge to Vineyard Haven. Super convenient to get to those places. The house is steps from the water on the Sound, that location, view and access to the beach is priceless. The home is small and cozy, very rustic and humble but met are needs and aligned to the expectations. The bedroom with the twin beds faces a busy road so at night light sleepers might get disturbed. The in room AC does a decent job of drowning the road noise. The other bedrooms face the beach and you can hear ocean waves at night, super serene. Not super modern but clean and functional.

Your yard is the beach, and it's a perfect location if you're carless

This is a cute, old-school beach house with a cabin feel to it. Everything was exactly as described by the owner (who was extremely responsive to messages and easygoing) and getting into the house was a snap. My family of four (parents and two teenagers) had a terrific long weekend. We had plenty of space; and found ourselves hanging out for hours on the back porch which is about 20 feet from the ocean. We enjoyed long relaxed breakfasts and dinners there; and the kitchen was well-equipped. This house is excellent for people who arrive without a car; as it's only a mile from Vineyard Haven and two miles from Oak Bluffs and right on 2 awesome places to swim/beach. We walked, biked, and took the bus depending on what we felt like, and it worked perfectly. We had no need of air conditioners because it was May (still very cool at night) and the ocean breeze was wonderful! We loved the outdoor shower too. The stairs to the second floor (where the bedrooms are) are pretty steep, so use caution. Short story - I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. It was a terrific home base to explore the island.

Perfect Birthday Trip

This was our first time on the island and Franny’s house was perfect. The location was wonderful- right in between Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. The buses were free this summer so that is how we got around the island. The house was just as described and pictured in the listing and Franny was a wonderful host. The thing we enjoyed most was the water right outside your back door. We visited the other beaches on the island but there is nothing better than stepping off the back deck and the water being right there. We would definitely book Franny’s house again.

Such a wonderful cottage!

This year was our 7th stay at this wonderful little cottage. Our week there is one of the things that we look forward to every year! Once again, we had a great time! With how busy life can be, this is truly the perfect ‘escape’ for us! It’s in a perfect location, right between Vineyard Haven & Oak Bluffs. You can be at countless restaurants and activities in minutes. We love exploring new parts of the island, and the location is in a great spot to make your home base. There’s nothing like grilling out on the deck, and playing cards while watching the ferries go by. Your own section of the beach is just a step away. It has some of the nicest sunsets on the island. And I can’t say enough great things about Franny! She is always so nice and helpful and very quick to respond should anything ever be needed. Another Sweet stay at my dream cottage on beach rd

It was other sweet stay at my dream cottage on Beach Rd. I dreamt of staying in this house as a young girl visiting this island with my Mom and family. We'd, hop off the ferry and drive down beach road past the house annually and I would proclaim "that is my favorite little house!" Post Covid I intentionally prayed the house would be available at a price I could afford. I checked for available listings, and it was. Franny is a wonderful host. The property manager is reliable and "johnny on the spot" fast. The location is perfect for access to the happenings in OB and Vineyard Haven, super close to the Net Result (you can walk) and the perfect proximity to trips up island for the Farmer's Market and spelunking. We love not having to pack up to go to the beach and having the freedom to let the kiddos explore the beach inlets and areas near the house. The house is also walking distance to ArtPlace where Gina's Ahmazing cooking requires the reasonable walk home to wear down some tummy fullness. There are too many wonderful things to say about this home; but I will refrain some as I don't want to find the house booked when I want to go (LOL). I cannot visit the island without secretly pining to be in the house on Beach Rd; it has fast become one of the reasons MV is my happy place. Thanks again Franny!

Wonderful Family Memories

Franny’s house quickly became a magical and special spot for our family. It’s in an excellent location and the beach access when you open the back door is everything we wanted. The kids couple play in the sand and swim in the water. We brought out SUP and had a great time paddle boarding around. We can’t wait until next year!

As the owner said "if you are looking for Pottery barn feel, do not rent our house" It is truly a rustic beach cottage, but you can't beat the location!

Private Beach Delight

Exactly as advertised. Just a quick drive to Main Street Vineyard Haven or downtown Oak Bluffs. The back deck is private and beach is breathtaking. Looking forward to coming back.

Location!

A few bumps at the beginning were solved by persistent communication between Franny and the electrician! This is an old time cottage with lots of updates upstairs, in the nicest location, though a very busy street. Nothing beats waterfront views, a private little beach, and ferries passing by. We took so many pictures as the sky and clouds changed by the hour. Nice kitchen appliances, and plenty of practical items like pots, pans, bowls, etc. Short drive (or easy walk) to town. We had a great time!

Wonderful Cottage and Location in MV

This year was our 6th time staying here. Our family keeps coming back and our week here is truly one of the things we look forward to each and every year! It’s in the perfect location, right between Vineyard Haven & Oak Bluffs so you’re minutes away from either. Plenty of restaurants, shops, beaches, and areas to explore. We love being able to sit out on the deck, grill and play cards and watch the ferries go in and out. Can’t beat the sunsets over the water on the beach right out your backdoor. Franny is also incredibly helpful and nice, and is always quick to respond should anything ever be needed. I highly recommend this great cottage. Thank you again for letting our family share these memories!

Photo, top left is my father who owns the house. My NY-based maternal grandfather used to summer in the cottage and do his plaster-to-bronze sculptures on the porch. In 1975, my family added a second floor with three bedrooms. Our family has squeezed many of us in for laughter-filled weekends of games and swimming, sunsets, meals on the porch. Right now we rent it most of the summer. We live in various parts of the Boston area and Amherst, MA. Photo is from Dad's house.

Why they chose this property

Lifelong memories. My family first rented this cottage in the1940's and then bought it back in the 1950's. I love that everything is right there, from views to fun water play right outside, to public buses, to hospital, to villages and film society and theatre. People flock to Eastville Beach and we are right there!

What makes this property unique

Cute house, right on the water. It is hard to find houses that are literally 15 feet from the water. Convenient to everything--buses, ferries and fun.
