My wife and I had a wonderful time at the cabin. Julie was an excellent host and left us detailed directions. The check-in process was smooth and the cabin was exceptionally clean. Great location to explore the Durango area.
A nice escape from the everyday busyness we all experience. The host has done a great job with this little historical cabin. She is always available and wants to make each stay as enjoyable as can be!!
A wonderful place to base our Durango visit - close enough to be able to pop into town (and hear the steam train), yet a step away as well.Falling asleep to the sound of the stream was a delight. Our first visit to the area, and now we know a sweet spot, should we (likely) return to the area.
Very clean and nicely decorated cabin. Very comfortable and relaxing time. Our host Julie was very helpful and left nothing out. Lots of birds and a lovely little creek to listen too. We will definitely be back.
As promised the bed was FABULOUS! Cabin and yard were cozy and we really enjoyed the birds, view, and privacy. There was no AC and it got very warm in the evenings but cooled nicely by 1:00am. Kitchen was great but NO MICROWAVE. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there but never paid more and got less even WITHOUT TV. Location was great, easy to get to town, easily followed directions. Website alluded you would be part of James Ranch but that is NOT TRUE
We enjoyed staying for two nights in the historic Days Cabin on the James Ranch. The cabin combines the history of the Animas River Valley with all of today’s conveniences. We loved the water flowing down the adjacent aceqiua (irrigation ditch), but the unfamiliar sound made sleeping soundly a bit challenging. Even so, we’ll be back, hopefully for three or more nights.
We loved our stay in the cabin. It was clean and cozy. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend if looking for a relaxing and quiet getaway
This property exceeded our expectations! The cabin is newly renovated with new appliances and appropriately stocked with cooking essentials. It was also spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable and the babbling brook right outside the cabin lulled us to sleep. We spent days on the covered porch watching the birds and also enjoyed an occasional visit from the ranch dogs, who were polite and well mannered. Host was delightful! She communicated well and was quick to respond to requests. The James Market was well stocked with fresh organic veggies, meats, and many other local items. We had the best burgers we'd ever had at the James Grill. This deserves much more than five stars! If you're in the Durango area, give this a try. You won't be disappointed.
This cabin was so great. The hosts were very responsive and helpful with directions etc… if you’re looking for a quiet getaway you can’t go wrong with this one!
Wonderful, comfortable with babbling water source nearby. Very shady and private. Beautiful views and a very active birdfeeder!Shower is great, hot water anytime, private washer and dryer. Wonderfully situated. We did miss having a microwave or air fryer or toaster oven. So we used the perfect stove/oven. I even baked brownies one chilly morning. We love James Ranch nearby and had two of our dinners there. Wonderful views from the restaurant and the service is incredible. The little James Ranch store has wonderful fresh fruit, fresh veggies and even more delightful, fresh eggs. Julie, our host, is amazingly receptive and quick to respond to any wish. This is our 2nd year and we truly hope to come back again, next year.
Julie is an amazing host offering a beautiful sanctuary and escape. The attention to detail in the cabin was incredible. Anytime I reached out Julie responded quickly and was so helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this space to anyone.
The cabin was the perfect base for my mountain biking adventure. Although small, there was ample room for all my gear - bikes stayed outside in the private front "yuard" with no fear of theft; the back-room shelves and front porch stored all the clean and dirty clothes and armor. The bed was oh-so-comfy, and the kitchen was perfect for meal preparation. Parking was easy, and again private. With the wonderful noise from the nearby waterfall, I could barely hear 550 or the trains. I slept like a baby, a happy baby! But the best part of my whole stay was my dealings with the owner Julie and her son Abe, who were both such gracious, down-to-earth, and friendly people. I highly recommend this gem for solo or couple travelers.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Historic Cabin. The host was very responsive to questions or anything we needed. The cabin was beautiful and just perfect for us. We hope to visit again!!
The cabin was fantastic. We loved the historic aspect and care taken to preserve it. We loved the quiet location out of town. The cabin had everything we needed and more! The ethos around how the family utilises the land and farms was impressive. Julie was a fantastic host, we couldn't fault anything. Thanks for a fabulous stay.
Our stay in this cabin at James Ranch was fantastic! The cabin was perfect for my wife and I, and everything was just as described in the listing. Julie was a perfect host, and the check in/out process was the easiest ever. We will definitely be staying here for any future trips to the Durango area!!
You have a wonderful cabin with amazing views. The grill has excellent burgers and what I know will be delicious steaks from the market. We loaded our cooler before headed home. Thank you for your hospitality. Hope to see y’all next year.
