Sunset Cottage: Spacious Vacation Home with Game Room

True to its name, Sunset Cottage delivers spectacular evening views of the valley. Only 5 minutes outside Meadville, the home offers a restful, country atmosphere, unsurpassed comfort and quick access to all the region has to offer.

This spacious ranch home is 2100 sq. ft. on the main floor with additional game room and theater/family room on the lower level. There is a front porch with rocking chairs, a back deck, a sunroom, and a small attached greenhouse for relaxing and enjoying a cup of coffee.

There is a propane gas grill on the back deck (May through October). Grilling utensils are in the kitchen.

A basketball hoop is located behind the house for a little one-on-one.

Entrance is through the lower level with primary living space and bedrooms upstairs. This house is not handicap friendly. Guests have access to the entire house (except for the garage area).

There are Roku equipped TVs in each bedroom (except the loft), the living room, and the theater room. In addition, there is a coffee bar in the kitchen.

The two fireplaces are non-functional, but remote-controlled candles are provided to give ambiance.

The twin beds in the main floor bedroom can be converted into a very comfortable king-size bed. Please indicate if you need the king conversion when you book.

The loft bedroom measures 5'6" in the center. The stairs leading to the room are very steep--like a ladder. Only children ages 11+ should stay in it. It is not appropriate for young children or older adults. No TV.

Sunset Cottage has a rural, country setting but is only 5 minutes away from Meadville. We are located just 3 minutes from the Harper Event Venue, 7 minutes from Allegheny College, 12 minutes from Faith Builders, and 17 minutes from Sunset Ridge Venue. If you are staying for a few days, you can make day trips to Erie and Presque Isle Peninsula (45 minutes), Pittsburgh (90 minutes), and even Niagara Falls.

There are exterior security cameras covering the rear, front, and side yards of the house. This is for the security of the home when there are no rentals. There are absolutely no indoor cameras to invade privacy.

When you book, you are agreeing to the fines incurred by violations of these rules (and possible eviction). We want our guests to feel welcome and comfortable. Our house rules are meant to ensure that the house is respected for the sake of our future guests.

Our son/grandson got married at The Harper located approx 3 miles away. This location was perfect. The accommodations were very warm and the hosts were very thoughtful to the original structure in their renovations. Plenty of space for everyone and excellent amenities. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay!

We stayed here after the rehearsal dinner and during the weekend of my son's wedding. The house was exactly what we needed to relax and enjoy the weekend. I think that the bed, sheets, and blankets are some of the most comfortable I have felt. The coffee bar was excellent as was the patio! Amazing stay; thank you!

Perfect for our multi generation family while staying for a wedding! Very close to The Harper. Great spaces to eat, play cards, sleep, and great for kids! The game room and downstairs was a great place to have kiddos play and allow for the grownups to enjoy cooking dinner! Excellent rooms, clean, plenty of bathrooms even for 5 adults. This is a raised ranch so stairs should be considered for your needs. It’s also on a rural road just outside of Meadeville, but this was a plus for us. Clean, inviting and well managed. Great hosts, we would stay again!

We enjoyed the house and property. It was a great place to stay and a safe place. We were in PA for my dad's funeral, but a few fun things. We visited the Saegertown Dairy Isle (a great thing from my childhood) and we made it to the Erie Zoo for my granddaughters. We also enjoyed the end of the Olympics

Wonderful Place to stay

This is as bright, beautiful spacious house situated in a very nice neighborhood. The house is decorated just as the pictures shows. It's tastefully decorated! Everything you need in a home away from home this host has thought of putting it in this home. She thought...if I stayed here what would I want in this home? That's exactly what she put in it, as though she was staying here herself. This house come with my highest recommendation!!!

My husband and I live near Meadville. We have a large family and are now expanding into grandchildren too. There is never a dull moment in our home! We have always enjoyed making guests feel at home in our own house; now we are enjoying welcoming guests to our getaway home also.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I fell in love with this house in 2022 when we were helping our son find a home for his bride. We have lived near this house since 2008, and we jumped at this opportunity to restore it and share it with you.

What makes this property unique

Our house was originally built for the area's veterinarian in 1960. His wife added a greenhouse and sun room for the plants she loved so well. It has been our pleasure to restore the home, making updates while preserving its original charm. The ranch house is much larger than it appears and offers a tremendous amount of space. There are large open spaces for family gatherings as well as a great game room for playing ping pong and air hockey. We also have a loft area the teens may enjoy sleeping in. We love to stay in guest houses, so we have tried to think of every luxury to make your stay top notch.
