Although we can't apologize for the fees that you were charged from VRBO (something you should probably take up with them rather than penalize the host of a property), we can justify and defend your comment and rating for value for the money of the cost we charge for the property. We encourage no more than six for occupancy of the property because our costs go up with the need for additional sheets, towels, laundering each of the said items as well as wear and tear on the property from the extra use of additional guests. What we provide: a completely modern an equipped kitchen, a modernized bathroom with an old Farmhouse feel; complete updated bedrooms to still look like old time farmhouse. A/C; a wrap around porch with a porch swing overlooking a two acre property that gives your family area to roam, play, fish swim along a 200 lake frontage, a dock to fish off of and tie your boat off of if you choose. Two fire pits, one near the house and one beside the lake for late night fishing. WiFi and streaming TV. We clear from our charges minus the hospitality taxes, and the cleaning fee, $540 for your three days. Divide that by three days, that is $180 per day. I divide that by three families that is $60 per day per family (three families). Divide the $540 by seven people (children not included) by three days and that is approximately $25 per person per day. We feel after speaking with one of your family members what a wonderful time you had with family, that was a small price to pay and believe me a fair price. The fees that you may be upset about are more than likely the fees that VRBO charges to help you find your location, protect you if something happens and provide payment opportunities. We certainly wish you would have taken that up with them rather than punish the hardworking family that is just trying to share our small part of nature and relaxation with others. Had you chose to go to a hotel, for a clean establishment with a view (no acreage etc.) you would have had to pay 150-200 per room for thee families. $600x3 days-$1800. No intimate space and time with family, no area to roam with the kids, no nature, lake, swimming fishing and time around the living room with your family which most would say is priceless.

Thanks so much that is exactly what we were going for. Helping people to see and feel the history of the home yet feel comfortable with the modern amenities. We have enjoyed this area fo over 30 years and love to see adults with young families and groups of friends enjoy the relaxing atmosphere; enjoy the Surrounding nature and spend time together. Glad you enjoyed our little slice of quiet.

Cheryl, we appreciate your kind review. We are sorry there were difficulties with the WiFi. We had had some difficult storms a few days before you got there and were experiencing some difficulties with our Wi-fi. We have been able to get it taken care of but we are happy that our Property Manager was able to work with you on that. We absolutely appreciate your comments about the stairs but we have done our best to update them as much as we can but our engineering is limited. We have provided two very large sofas for that reason. We are happy you parents found them comfortable. We hope to see you again soon. Everyone that brings kayaks really do enjoy the lake.
