The chalet was an excellent place for our family to stay during our two week vacation in Switzerland. It had all the features that we needed for an enjoyable stay.
We appreciated the accuracy of what we were renting. Ludwig was extremely responsive and answered all questions or concerns in a timely fashion. We had from 6 months old to 88 and this property accommodated all 8 of us. We appreciated all the little extras he provided to make stay even better.
The property was full of character and in a perfect location for visiting Brienz and the surrounding area. The views from the chalet were stunning and it was less than 5 minutes walk down in to Brienz. We very much used the chalet as a base to explore from so didn't spend a huge amount of time there. However, it had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and hassle free.Communication with the host was very good and we appreciated the gifts he left for us and the provision of plug socket adaptors! There is a comprehensive set of 'house rules', but these were straightforward enough and not an issue even with children between the ages of 8 and 5.
Our family had an absolutely magical stay at this stunning chalet in Switzerland, which made our vacation truly unforgettable! Tucked away in a charming alpine village, this property was the perfect blend of comfort and Swiss allure. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the breathtaking mountain views right outside our windows. The chalet was spotless, cozy, and beautifully designed with rustic wooden accents. The well-equipped kitchen was perfect for preparing meals, and the spacious living area gave us plenty of room to unwind after exploring the Alps. The host was outstanding—responsive, warm, and really enriched our trip. The chalet’s location was ideal, just a short walk to the train station, the turquoise lake, and charming village shops. We can’t recommend this chalet highly enough for anyone planning a Swiss getaway. It was the ideal base for our adventures, and we’re already dreaming of our next visit! Thank you for an absolutely perfect stay!
Our family of 9 enjoyed our stay very much. The small apartment below was ideal for 2 toddlers & parents. (Tiny bathroom) as far as naps and bedtime, monitoring with baby monitor while enjoying family games and adult time upstairs. Breathtaking views, walking distance from waterfront, grocery, restaurants and public transportation. Comfortable beds, great water pressure , fully stocked kitchen as far as dishes pans etc. Having laundry was also nice to have. Thoroughly enjoyed the sauna. We had 2 rental cars and found the parking to be a bit tight.
We stayed here - total of 4 adults and 7 children. The location and setting are idyllic! The sauna was a lovely addition and the owner was very responsive with a brief electrical issue, sending out the electrician to fix the sauna within 12 hours. While packing up, we looked under the couches and furniture only to find dust bunnies and many lost things from precious guests. The cleanliness could have been much better and we would have appreciated a thorough clean with as much as we paid for a cleaning fee. Overall, however, the house met our needs and had such delightful views of the lake and mountains out every window! We were so blessed to stay here.

Nice chalet but read "The Rules"
Whilst the good things about this chalet are that it is in a lovely position with marvellous views and well equipped sad to say the bottom apartment for two people had a constant musty smell.
Any persons hiring this chalet should read with care "The House Rules".
The owner meets you and takes over an hour going over these, the first rule being never to enter the house with your shoes on. The owner provides previously used mules which may well have been washed but I would suggest taking your own slippers if you wish to comply.
There are photos on the doors of the kitchen cabinets of the order you are expected to keep the China, glass etc and even the wardrobes have pictures of the arrangement of the hangers and extra blankets expected on departure.
This means you are constantly having to make sure nothing is out of place.
This does not make for a relaxing holiday.
We even had an email from the owns telling us that a couple of fruit stains on a damask table cloth had been hard to remove. I suggest a plastic one would be better then .

An anonymous review with this content is difficult to handle, since the person who booked the house for the whole party wrote us after the stay "many thanks again to a another wonderful holiday in Switzerland".
Some members of the group were not satisfied with their stay. We weren't satisfied with them either.
The complaint regarding the 2-room apartment with its "musty smell" could not be confirmed by the next guests. In fact, the people who stayed in this apartment just the week after gave us a glowing, five star review on another website. The anonymous commenter advised us to buy a dehumidifyer for this apartment, what we did on the very same day they left the house. However, this appliance wasn't necessary, because *airing* the apartment was enough to keep a nice atmosphere, which the next guest did confirm.
Yes, we have a thing we call "house rules" and we expect our guests to know them and to follow them. They are mentioned on the website and are explained with the lease agreement. People coming in our home will find neat and tidy things ; is it too much to expect from them to let those things at the same place at the end of their stay ? People coming in our home will find a nice and clean place as well ; is it too much to drop one's shoes in the hall and not to walk with dirty shoes in the house ? If a relaxing holiday means no respect whatsoever for the house, then please relax in another place !
In fact, those people didn't respect the house rules we took care to explain them during check-in. They even told us we took too much time and gave too obvious examples, but they nevertheless didn't understand how we sort out the waste in Switzerland, mixed things up completely, let more than 24 empty bottles of alcohol, and simply let their waste bags lying in the garden, when everybody in Brienz is able to put everything on the right spot on the street. The person who booked the house did apologize for this.
In fact, this booking has been for us the worst of the season and many things went wrong. We have never been sure who exactly stayed in the house, because the people switched during the check-in (without any prior information !). An elder woman, who complained about the house, didn't even stay there. Two younger people complained about the beds, because they weren't modern ones (checking the picture before booking is advised). And they told us only on departure about this, so that we hadn't the opportunity to do anything during their stay.

Jederzeit erreichbar.
Knapp 10 Minuten Laufen zur Promenade, Badestellen, Einkauf etc
Ruhige Gegend, wenig Autos.
Es hat alles wunderbar geklappt.
Die Nähe zu den Skigebieten Hasliberg und Grindelwald bietet Abwechslung. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Die Badezimmer müssten renoviert werden.
Our family rented this property as we wanted to spend a week in the Berner Oberland. It was perfect for the six of us. The house met all of our needs and we enjoyed spending time in Brienz as well as traveling to surrounding areas. Communication with the owner was excellent. We highly recommend this property!
Gut eingerichtet.Die Küche mit allem was man benötigt ausgestattet.Tolle Liegewiese..Viel Spielzeug vorhanden.
Sehr netter Vermieter

We deeply enjoyed our stay at this chalet in Brienz! The house was very clean and everything was very well organized. The book of photos showing what goes where in the kitchen actually proved very helpful. Our family of ten (two senior citizens and eight adults/teenagers) fit in well over the three floors. My parents enjoyed the accessibility, privacy, and quiet of the ground-floor apartment. The teenagers enjoyed the ping-pong table and badminton set. The internet worked well. And Brienz is a lovely area for holidays. It was nice to be slightly above the town (for the views) but close enough to walk down easily to the grocery store and train station. We enjoyed hearing the children singing in the school across the field. All in all a great place to spend one's vacation!

A well-equipped chalet in a great location
We have visited Brienz several times before. This stay lived up to all our expectations, and more. The chalet is extremely well-equipped, with great attention to detail. There are excellent instructions on how to use the various appliances that come with the property, and there are outdoor games etc also available (including table tennis in the grounds). The kitchen / dining area in the upper apartment was very capacious for our family of six, and the living room was big enough for several activities to take place at the same time (e.g. card games, reading, conversation). The property is well-situated looking over the village of Brienz but with a walk of no more than 10 minutes to Migros or the Co-op for food. The view from the balcony of the upper apartment is wonderful. We had the ground floor apartment as well, and this proved a useful retreat for the two older members of the group. The owner is extremely helpful and kept in touch by email during the week in case we had any problems. Although the theoretical capacity of the chalet is higher, we'd suggest that 6 occupants is the ideal (unless there are very small children or babies present).

Why they chose this property
My wife and I did fell in love with this traditional and beautiful chalet during Summer 2012. We decided to buy it and to rent it, after some renovations, and are doing this since 2014. We are definitely attached to this property and have spent countless hours in order to prepare it for guests coming from all over the world.
What makes this property unique
This chalet is a traditional house made of wood, decorated with style, so that every guest may enjoy an uplifting stay. The garden house with the finnish sauna provides a fantastic opportunity to relax and spend quality time, especially in winter. The views of the Lake of Brienz and of the mountains can be breathtaking.
