Our home ('Triphailme') is a 3,000 sq ft. private home located on the Irish coast in southwest Kerry. It sits 500 yards from Waterville Golf Links ranked in the top 5 of Ireland's best Golf courses and 54th in the top 100 of the world. The house has an 180 degree unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean. The house, built in 1999, enjoys 2 living rooms, one on the first floor and one on the second floor, both with the ocean view.
The downstairs living room has a gas fireplace, perfect for returning from a day on the links. The house has 5 bedrooms en-suite; in addition there is a 6th bathroom in the center hall. Four of the bedrooms have ocean views.
The kitchen is very spacious with an eating area attached. A washer and dryer are located in the back pantry off the kitchen that also includes a large hot press. There is also a game room off the kitchen which has a real fireplace.
The Smugglers Inn, a 4 star Inn, is located half way between Triphailme and the golf course. The Smugglers offers fine dining at night as well as breakfast and lunch for those who don't care to cook. Triphailme is 3/4 of a mile from the village along the coast.
Brenda O'Sullivan, our house and reservations manager, is a wonderful resource for almost anything you could think of while staying at Triphailme. She can arrange airport pick up and drop off, drivers for evening activities, extra house cleaning, in-house catering and babysitters to mention a few. If you want to fish the local lake for gold medal salmon and trout with a guide, plan a unforgettable hiking trip, set up golf tee times or go horse back riding, Brenda will arrange it.
In addition to the world ranked Waterville Golf Links and Skellig Bay Golf Club, you have other spectacular golf courses to choose from. Dooks, Tralee, Killarney Fish and Game and Ballybunion are all an easy drive for day trips.
Touring scenic Valentia Island, lunching in the charming fishing village of Portmagee, or shopping at the world famous Chocolate Factory in Ballinskelligs is short half a day trip.
You can drive the historic and beautiful Ring of Kerry and lunch and shop in Kenmare and or Killarney.

This house was absolutely perfect for our group of 7. Jim was extremely helpful from the time we booked this house, and thru our 3-day stay. Plenty of space, comfortable beds, walking distance to town, and great Restaurants (Smugglers Inn and Dooley's). I highly recommend this place if you are traveling to the Waterville / Portmagee area or planning a trip to Skellig Michael.
Although I gave 5 stars for the online review, it really did not do it justice, the house is spacious and comfortable, the view is spectacular, it’s a 6 out of 5 overall. I would not hesitate to book it again if I went to Waterville
We chose this house so we could visit Skellig Island. Sadly, the trip was cancelled due to stormy weather but we didn't mind too much as the house was such a pleasure to hunker down in! We used our downtime to catch up on showers, laundry, rest, and relaxation before resuming our tour around Ireland. It was a lovely house with plenty of room to spread out, watch Banshees of Inisherin, and eat take away from Dooley's in our PJs. The area looks like it would be a lovely place to explore when the weather is nicer. I hope we can return some day to find out!

Waterville in September
We stayed just two nights here. The home is very nice and the location in wonderful. The owner was very helpful with hints of what to see. We got in late and Brenda set us up with a light meal at O'Dwyers. She called ahead for us and Deidre was waiting outside for us. The Skeelig Ring is what she said to see. We followed her advise and it was breathtakingly beautiful. I highly recommend seeing this part of Ireland. I also highly recommend this home. It is very nice and accessable to everything. I am so glad I found this property and made this connection for our trip.

A Little bit of Heaven
We have been coming to Ireland for 25 yrs. My Husband was born right here, outside of Waterville, so we come home very often to visit family. I can tell you, with all honesty, that this is by far, the best home we have ever stayed in. If nothing else, the views from almost any window in the home, take your breath away, and make you feel like you are in paradise. Having tea in one of the numerous, comfortable sitting areas, or just relaxing out by the front lawn, makes one want to stay forever. The house has 5 spacious bedrooms, each with its own bath, and the beds are very comfortable. Then there is the wonderful, large kitchen, with everything you could want, and enough room to have lots of family gatherings. Off the kitchen is a very cozy room with a peat fireplace, that we would sit in every night, and enjoy a glass of wine, and lots of conversation, before going to bed. The home is very close to town, golf, and the beach, so many activities are right there, at your fingertips. Another nice thing about this rental, is Brenda. She is a phone call away, to answer any, and all questions you might have about the home, the areas activities, etc. I have to say also, that Jim, (Mr. Hall, the owner, is very easy to talk to also!) Everything about this home says, "Stay here, you wil fall in love with it" just as we have.

Duone,
I am so happy you love Triphailme the way we do. I am sorry that the weather wan't more cooperative on your last visit. Everything that you describe about the house and area I can relate to and agree with you. I get excited about Waterville just writing about it. I am headed over in 2 weeks and will take some pictures to show you how the village fared from the storms.

The water views from the house were beautiful. We enjoyed the house and the convenience of making breakfast at the house. The Smuggler's Inn was a short walk down the road and the food was delicious. Beaches were also a short walk away. The house was a close drive to other sights and is on the Ring of Kerry.
Suggestion: It would be great if there were window seats upstairs/downstairs and binoculars/telescope to better enjoy the view. from the house.
We had an amazing time on our holiday in Waterville! The house was a great base to explore the Ring of Kerry. It sits with a view of the bay within walking distance of beaches, Waterville golf club, and the village with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. The house itself has anything and everything you could need and if it doesn't Brenda was so nice to deal with and happy to help. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is plenty of space for everyone. We laughed that it almost felt like we were in a new place every evening as we played games in one sitting room one night, another we sat in front of the fire, yet another we sat outside and looked at the full moon and stars. I couldn't recommend this house more highly!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house. It had a real feeling of home away from home. Superb location lots to do & see in the locality. House manager was excellent & checked in regularly.
Would love to book again we would certainly go back.
5 Star experience all the way.

Great location, lovely house, full amenities, great staff.
Our group of 8 had a wonderful stay. The house was roomy and comfortable. It has all the amenities and exceeded our expectations in all respects, except fir wireless strength. Wifi needed to be reset twice a day. But this minor inconvenience did not detract from an overall excellent experience. We would definitely return to the house in the future.

The house was gorgeous, roomy and comfortable. Incredible views from every room in the house.
This was the trip of a lifetime for our familiy and staying at this home ensured that happened. So close to the water and the beautiful town of Waterville. Jim was incredibly helpful and Brenda met us there and stopped by several times to see what we needed. Excellent restaurants, pubs and golf courses within walking distance as well as shops and historical statues and points of interest. We had an amazing time and cannot wait to go back.

A Perfect Retreat in Southwest Ireland
This home is well situated for golf at Waterville, experiencing the town of Waterville, and exploring the beauties of Southwest Ireland. There's plenty of room for a large group, the house is well equipped, and Brenda -- who oversees the house -- is a wonderful resource. Highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxing place to park your group as opposed to moving town-to-town.

Our family stayed at Jimmy's lovely home at the end of August. We were in Waterville for a family holiday and to attend the Chaplin Festival.
The home is large, comfortable, and has a lovely family room with a very cozy, warm fireplace with gas fire.
The location of the house is excellent , just a short, nice, walk into the village, beach, restaurant, golf club , and the view is just magical . We also found the ' flags' a great help in finding the right house !
There was lots to do while we were there, and our family ranged from ages 70 to 6.
Brenda is a great lady and very helpful in helping us with all our questions !
Thanks again Jimmy, my family in Ireland may be inquiring on booking a stay in the future.

An Incredibly Memorable Vacation
Although a few flight issues delayed us, everything after that took a sharp uptick. The home is gorgeous and spacious...well-equipped and clean. The seven of us had more room than needed, with the option of being altogether...or each separated to our own quiet area. Brenda was gracious and the perfect Home Manager. She offered great suggestions on activities, made golf reservations, dinner options, and more. She is a true asset to your stay. We will return, as our vacation was five months ago and we still talk about it. Jimmy, a heartfelt thank you for making this trip of a lifetime a dream come true.

Heaven on Ear
When planning a vacation, one tends to create expectations and visualize outcomes that are rarely, if ever met. Our stay at Tri Phailme exceeded the aforementioned ten-fold. From the moment I discovered the photos of Jim's home, which include an Irish flag flying high over Old Glory, I knew I was making the right decision in booking the first leg of my family's 2014 trek through Ireland. Traveling with my wife and our three little ones (all under 8), as well as my 65 year old mother, our age rage could have presented various obstacles in most places. Upon making our entrance into Tri Phailme, it was immediately evident that this home wasn't and isn't most places. The kitchen jumped right out at us. Its size perfect for our morning breakfasts and evening snacks. The family room just off the kitchen, with its unobstructed views of the Atlantic, offered a comfort and coziness that will resonate in our minds for years to come. Though we had just 6 in our party, the home could easily accommodate double that. Each of us slept soundly throughout and having en suite bathrooms in every room was truly gravy. The kids made the second floor family room their haven, with each night presenting a new board game. To say we were blessed with amazing weather would be an understatement as we enjoyed 75 degrees and sunshine for 7 straight days. This allowed us to spend ample time on the beach which is right down the road. The memories we made in the ocean, with the Skellig Mountains as our backdrop, are the stuff of fairy tales. Absolutely Incredible. For the golf enthusiasts, Waterville Links is right next door and is worthy of its world class pedigree. Just mentioning Jim's name ensured that I got out in the first group and I am forever grateful for that. Teeing off at 8am enabled me to get back to the family with the entire day still ahead of us (after a Guiness inside the clubhouse of course). When we found ourselves in need of an excursion we simply phoned Brenda who readily provided us with her local knowledge and charm. Our day in Knightstown on Valentia Island won't soon be forgotten. With ample eateries within walking distance to the house (Dooley's Seafood & Steak House tops our list) there is a menu for everyone. However, it was the after dinner sunsets back in the front yard of Tri Phailme that will live with my family and I for eternity. Jim, we can't Thank You enough for welcoming us into your beautiful home. My only hope is to one day return. Slainte!!!

Beach, Golf and Spectacular Views
Jim,
Just a note to say that your house was perfect and we had a great stay there for the week. All the comforts of home and the views and proximity to beach and golf could not have been better. We also enjoyed some of your musical collection especially the "Gypsy King" CD which got a few of us going!
Thanks again, I hope we get back there soon.

LP- Napa, CA - Amazing
I have visited this special home on four separate occasions with family and friends and there is nothing like it. I will continue to make a point to visit this home and Waterville regularly. The house is wonderfully decorated and all the rooms are spacious and comfortable with their own bathrooms and views of the ocean. The location is perfect; near to town and Waterville Golf Links with an unobstructed view of the ocean. The golf course is second to none as far as I am concerned, and the staff is as friendly as can be. The town is like something out of a movie- a quaint, ideyllic small Irish town in the southwest portion of the Country. I am convinced everyone in Waterville is friendly, at least everyone I've met on my multiple visits. On the trips, we play a round of golf, grab a pint at the nearby Smugglers Inn and then head to town for dinner at the Huntsman, or just make dinner in the wonderful kitchen in this special home and sit by the fire. Every visit is a truly memorable and relaxing experience and I can't wait for the next trip.

Louis, Thanks for your review and you are always welcome at Triphailme and in Waterville. I don't know if you have been back since they redid some of the holes at WGL, but if you haven't played since the changes you must come back. It is always nice to have such wonderful people like you abd your family and friends stay at the house. Happy holidays and all the best.
About the host
Hosted by James Hall
We have been coming to Waterville since 1994 and consider it coming home when we return. We enjoy the golf, the fishing, the hiking, the scenic drives and the wonderful food. The choices for either pub food or fine dining are plentiful and close by. All the meat and fish are raised and caught locally. One never tires of our ocean views. The people of Waterville are the friendliest people in the world.
Why they chose this property
We initially came to Waterville for its top links golf course but now we enjoy the entire Irish experience when we return there. The lake and ocean fishing draws anglers from all over Europe. The spectacular irish landscape makes biking, hiking and strolling memorable. It is also an artist's dream come true.
What makes this property unique
The house is ideal for golf vacations. The rooms can comfortably accommodate 4 couples or 2 foursomes of golf buddies. Our home is also perfect for family reunions. The Smugglers Inn is a short stroll away and can accommodate your overflow. It is also open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The golf, views, hiking, restaurants and people are what visitors love the most when they come to Waterville.
