The cabin was cozy but bare bones. We luckily brought our own extra blankets when the weather got colder. We also bought a frying pan and left it for future guests as the only pans were tiny. The instructions left by the owner were outdated. At some point there was a gate we were supposed to open and lock but it was open when we arrived. We were unsure what to do with the garbage as the instructions were crossed out but no additional direction how to dispose of it. This cabin is very remote and cell service and internet are only available about a 30 minute drive in Sperryville. Make sure you research the area ahead of time and know the routes to get to your destination. With a combination of printed maps and the help of locals we found our way but not without driving in the wrong direction a few times. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed hiking in the park with our dog. The whole area is very dog friendly (inside and out) so this is a great place to visit with your dog.
The cabin was what we were looking for. Great communication from the hosts. Quiet and calm is what you'll find here. A lot of wildlife in the area. Pond is peaceful. I don't think there are many bass in the pond of any size, was only able to catch 3 on artificial lures. All around 12", but there are plenty of bream. We caught well over 50. Use small hooks with nightcrawlers or corn. Saw several large snapping turtles surface in the evening in the pond and plenty of frogs around the shoreline as well. We plan on making a return visit at some point. Was great to disconnect and hang out as a family without the distractions of a phone.
The cabin was wonderful. GREAT location. Even though there is no signal there and no WiFi, I had no problem finding it. This is exactly the type of property that I have been looking to buy around PA, OH, WV and MD. VA is a bit too far for me, but this cabin would make me change my mind. The pond is very nice, fishing was good in the pond and the river/creek is walking distance for some nice trout option. Made to 2 National Parks while there. Really lovely property and location. We will likely be coming back. Thank you for sharing your house with us.
Host cares that you make it asking for a phone call once you arrive as it can be challenging to find the cabin. Beautiful property and the cabin fits exactly what you’re looking for when getting away for a weekend.
The view from the porch is great, and the cabin itself is very cozy! Loved the wood stove, definitely helped keep the chill off! Will absolutely return to see the scenery in different seasons!
The cabin was cozy, private, and clean. We enjoyed spending time inside, offline, and fishing in the nearby pond. It's a great home base for enjoying Shenandoah and near excellent hiking routes. It was a great stay.
This is a cozy and comfortable little cabin in a beautiful area with close access to the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive! Loved the very private location and the pond out front! Perfect place to relax and unplug. Would definitely book this cabin again!!
